First DLC expansion to include helicopters apparently. The paid DLC is meant to include a range of helicopters, helipads and playable missions. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-dlc-updates-roadmap VR coming VERY SOON. Something meaningful every month planned.

With less than 6 days remaining to launch I thought it would be fun to guess the date that the NDA will be officially lifted. At tomorrow's Livestream? Friday the 14th? The same day it releases (Aug 18th)? Step right up, folks, and take yer best bet! So lets see...I dunno...I'm going to guess that the NDA lifting will be announced during tomorrow's livestream event.

Are any testers out there able to confirm whether or not MSFS default scenery alters with seasons (and not just the addition of snow, which I'd classify as "hard winter")? I'm hoping to see leaves-off in winter, bright greens and blossom in spring, deeper greens in summer and reds, yellows and browns in autumn.. If so, could you post some screenshots or videos please? Many thanks

I have to tell you guys I am so stoked to what we all are about to experience in a very short time. I started using FS when 95 came out and have been hooked ever since; so there was a time when I would sit at my Compaq 386-DX2 and most excitingly sign into America Online and then onto the CompuServe servers and download the new jets which now had 16 sided fuselages opposed to 8; man look how far we have come! I also see the same volume of excitement coming from the community with regards to being on the avsim and flightsim forums like I used to be daily to see what what shiny and new files were available during that particular day. I know that this new "from the ground up…

For FS2020, what is the division of labor and responsibilities between Microsoft, Asobo and others?

I am reaching out to my friends in hope someone can do better than the 2 hours of no help from Microsoft Support. In July, I pre-ordered MSFS 2020 and recently the payment was secured by Microsoft. After reading about some issues from AVSIM users regarding download and install of the small 200mb file, I decided to make sure mine was good for the game installation next week. Long story short -- I cannot get anything to happen when I click on the INSTALL/PLAY link. So I click on the 3 dots and see "install on my devices" . This takes me to this error >> Where do you want to install? It looks like you don’t have any applicable device(s…

A lot of us who fly GA aircraft would like to set up our sim cockpits as close as possible to our aircraft. For me, this means not using a glass cockpit, and having the Garmin GTN750, which I've been using for several years with the current MFS. Does anyone know if that's possible? Thanks.

Hi, I pre purchased the premium deluxe version of MSFS 2020 and have been charged for it. I'm not a computer nerd, so I'm a little nervous about what to do when it is released. Will I get a notification by email that its ready to download from MS? Or do I have to go to the Microsoft Store to download it? From what I've been reading here on the Forum it sounds like it might be a big pain to get it after it's released. Thanks

This forum now grows rapidly and this will accelerate The Day AfterTM. An explosion of posts. Raving and ranting in all directions. Like with any other release but with a twist. A large crowd of beta testers will open their big mouth. The Insiders forum is said to have been a dumpster fire as of late... And this brings the question, what do we want ? A forum, this wonderful invention of the Greek and Roman Antiquity to which the Information Age has given a new life, where people debate, sometimes hotly but gentlemanly, the affairs of the day ? A free-for all circus with flaming one-liners and mob behaviour ? A church where fanatics have always a bundle of wo…

I am curious if anyone knows how updates to FS2020 will be handled: - Will these be automatic updates, like with Windows 10? (In other words, will MSFS update itself if there is an active internet connection, even if you don't run the sim?) - Will the user have an option to NOT update the sim? I am asking this because with FSX/P3D, if you used add-ons, some no longer worked after an update (ORBX Objectflow, for example). Therefore, the user may prefer to defer an update until the 3rd party developer will update the software for the newest sim version. - Any hint on how frequent the updates will be? Will these be small frequent updates, or major infrequen…

I remember the first time I sat down in a Level-D simulator (Southwest 737-700). I could hardly believe the way the outside world looked. Sort of like a twilight scene from FS3. How in the world can real-world pilots train in anything that won't let them see their house I thought? Good heavens. (I shudder to think about the Link trainer days.) I figured that must just be some sort of simulator that is used only by a low-cost airline. And then I sat down in a 747-400 Level-D at United. Wow, it was soooooo much better. Instead of some lousy twilight scene that looked like something from FS3 I had a beautiful early morning scene that looked just like FS5. So, I'm flying Uni…

Looking at preview videos whenever any airline traffic is showed it's always an airbus aircraft. From what I saw there are A320 A330 and A380. Are airbus aircraft the only AI? I've also seen a couple videos where there is a United painted A330 and one with a United painted A380. The trailer also randomly shows an Iberia A320 so some liveries must be available but again seems like there are no other types of AC? any insights into this? Thanks, Dave

Hi all, the bonanza could be my round the world trip plane. Does anyone know if it has anti icing or any de icing ability? I assume the model in mfs2020 is fairly recent, around 2010? As it has the g1000. Any info appreciated on this fine bird

Spotted this article when browsing FSNews. It lists what several devs have in the pipeline, with links to the sources. Might make it easier to keep tabs on devs' plans. They claim they will keep it updated. MSFS Megathread: What Are Devs Doing?

Wild speculation post, but I have to wonder if there are gaming plans beyond MSFS building on the same engine/real world data sources? With all of the development work and money that has gone into the platform perhaps there are plans to expand it into additional gaming uses. Two things come to mind for me: A new combat flight sim It wouldn’t be uncharted territory for Microsoft to get into an open ended combat flight simulator based on a civilian flight simulator based on the MS Combat Flight Simulator series. But could you imagine having the world that is being created for MSFS available as a base for combat flight simming? Simulate conflict anywhere …

Hi, This is supposed to be a great SSD, PCI based. https://direktkauf.idealo.de/productpage/6457188?siteid=1&offerKey=e6438b788224b7957f67fd9260bd6e70&osId=3240492304978413647?utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=affilinet&utm_campaign=103504&utm_content=feeddk&camp=affilinet&camp=affilinet&awc=15536_1597156582_1018961cb441e67d49a92cb631bde117 Does anyone know if this can be attached to most motherboards? Ideally, I would just get a fast external SSD, but if this is faster, I would prefer this solution, but not sure if this would fit my 10 year old Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard. Thanks!

As most of us are used to using a weather engines which come with reports for the various airports we are departing or arriving at, I was thrown a curve ball by FS which when using Live weather has no such option (at the moment). I've no doubt whatsoever that this will be remedied over time, but, until that time arrives I highly recommend using Windy:- https://www.windy.com/?51.575,0.188,5 It shows an incredible amount of very useful weather info including "all" airports Worldwide, and gives you exactly the information you will require for a successful preflight, flight and approach.
