Notice your version number. We are currently on 1.6.13 in the beta. The release version number continues to climb. They've not only reached 1.7 as a milestone version, but have had 11 incremental updates as well to reach 1.7.11. We will have to see how many bugs they get done before release, but they seem to be working diligently.

After watching many videos over the last month or so, I see obviously "real pilots" among others on the testing team for this sim. Frankly, some of their expertise in flying is evident, and to me, a bit intimidating. They use the various settings in such a fluid way that I cannot contain my ENVY. Because it's a brand new sim, I was wondering if there were tutorials....specifically for the Flight Management System, built into MFS 2020. Additionally, I would hope that tutorials for everything in this new simulation would be available either in the sim itself or at a specific site. I expect to start with a lot of GA VFR flying to check out the wonderful scenery realism, …

Strangely enough, this is one of the more controversial issues regarding the sim, with some people thinking the camera system is a complete, total useless (and, gamey!) mess, and others simply using it with no problem and wondering what all the angst is about.

Found his commentary very interesting. What he seems to not be aware of is that his area obviously has photogrammetry. His reactions are fun though 🙂

All I've seen are US, and Europe mostly. I've been wanting to see more of the Asian region, besides what I've seen of North Korea. Are there any of the following videos of the following places in MFS2020? Thailand Vietnam South Korea Philippines Hong Kong Taiwan Japan I really hope these areas are at least detailed enough where we can do some GA VFR flying because in the past with previous sims, Asia was always a region that needed much attention.

Hey everyone. Really excited for the release next week. Does anyone know when the review embargo is supposed to break for FS2020? I’m really curious to see what kind of scores this gets. Not that it matters to most people here, but incredible reviews could really boost the sim among more casual gamers. Outside of small bugs here and there, and based on reading all the previews from the main gaming/tech outlets, it seems very probable that the new edition is going to get widespread acclaim. I remember the biggest knock on the FSX reviews was how even high end computers were struggling to run FSX at launch. From what I’ve seen, that should not be an issue…

From what I understand, mesh data is the resolution of the peaks and valleys of Earth. Has Asobo ever indicated that mesh data will be improved for MSFS? An example of what i mean, is in this image of Rio de Janeiro, Bing Maps captures a general elevation of mountains, but ignored the high resolution elevation change for Sugar Loaf Mountain and instead shows it completely leveled off. It shows this mountain correctly in the pre-release trailer, but Asobo likely hand-drew that. But maybe it is indeed better automatic mesh data being used for this sim?

Whoever makes their camera system available in MSFS first, whether that be Chaseplane or EZDok, I'll buy it. Thank you.

Hi all, I've been watching plenty of FS2020 videos and have noticed that some airports have unrealistic airport lighting. Here is an example: Chewwy shared a great Grand Canyon video which ends with a landing at Sedona KSEZ. The runway has centreline lighting and the taxiways have centreline lighting. According the FAA Aircraft and Facility Directory this is not the case at real KSEZ: RWY 03–21: H5132X100 (ASPH) S–15, D–30 MIRL 1.8% up NE RWY 03: REIL. PAPI(P4L)—GA 3.0º TCH 43´. RWY 21: REIL. I'm wondering if MSFS will model the tropopause. It is the boundary between the troposphere (where the weather lives) and the stratosphere. It is often marked by a boundary layer of dust due to a temperature inversion. It is a considerable factor in planning and flying the big iron. Imagine flying in the troposphere and requesting an altitude change that puts you above the tropopause. When you get to the new assigned altitude, the higher temperature limits your power. You request your original altitude but ATC has already given it to someone else. "So there we are, as the expression goes, “with the nose in the stratosphere and the tail dragging in the water…

Hi everyone, I have an internal 1 TB HDD with around 200 GB remaining and a portable 1 TB USB SSD which is essentially empty. I’d preferably like to install the sim on the SSD so that I don’t have to entirely delete X-Plane’s scenery to install the new sim. Is that a bad thing to do? Are there any downsides to installing on a portable SSD? Is it better to try and delete ortho scenery from XP on the HDD to free up space?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but would there be any difference in performance between running the sim on an internal or external SSD? Thanks!
