  1. So I’m planning to go around the world in the Cessna 172 G1000. But am wondering, given all the mentions of FPS hit using the garmin aircraft, would I be better off going VFR in the 150 steam gauges? How many FPS do you lose steam gauges vs LCD displays? im going to be using a gtx1070, i5 7500, 16gb ram. Hoping for between high and ultra settings at 1080p? Is that reasonable do you think?

  3. Started by Tnarius,

I've very lightly dabbled in Flight Sims (and a few hours of full size flying) over the years but FS2020 has got me interested in progressing with sim'ing as a proper hobby and I would like to record my progress formally from the outset in a LogBook as I would for full size. Does anyone know if FS2020 will support this and if not, would you recommend any other Windows software to use instead or as well?

  4. I guess reviews will come out and live stream will start tomorrow then. Anything to help the time pass until Tuesday is welcome 🙂

Hello; I have a question; Yesterday I posted a topic in this forum and when I came back hours later my notifications said that I got replies on my topic...but when I tried to view them I could not access my topic...instead I got a message saying that I was not allowed to view the content along with an error code...very strange since this has never happened before. So I sent a message to the administrator about this but I still haven't got any response. Any ideas as to why this is happening?... Thanks and have a nice day.

I think it's over a month since the last one? I think they sometimes hold off on releasing drivers to add optimizations for new games, but is MSFS in that bracket of big game (sorry, simulator:))?

  8. I think we are about to experience something we have never seen before, an explosion of "Sim tourism", where people are simply exploring the world, something not all that profitable to do before, when one piece of land-class looked like pretty much like any other..... I can imagine video travelogues, as people find cool spots to showcase and everyone rushes off investigate for themselves. Storm Chasing? New Era.

Just asked this some place else but I feel like it might be worth an own thread. Checking out all the footage of the weather settings I see all sorts of things, but nothing like a visibility slider. In the IFR episode it was clearly stated that it's possible to "precisely set ceilings and RVR for instrument practice". We've seen the beauty and stunning visuals of this sim more than enough. I want to see something like an 800m visibility ILS, and I want to see CATIII conditions. So if any of those content creators reads this, this is what I want to see. I can't believe that to this day, with release literally within reach, we haven't seen any serious IFR, more specifically…

Hi folks, My intention is not to open a thread controversy. I loved P3D from the start, and I am so grateful to LM for taking over FSX and making it what P3Dv5 is today. A superb flight simulator. But there. I've been using MSFS in alpha then beta for 7 months. My feelings at the beginning were very mixed. Beautiful graphically but too buggy, the planes were barely usable 10 minutes, I looked at the landscape ... then I returned to P3D to "fly". Device allocation was a nightmare and I wasn't using the full potential of the cameras that MSFS offers. In addition, I had disabled all navigation and piloting aids, did not use ATC nor ground services. In fact, I flew very …

Hi all, Looking forward to Tuesday. Are there any iPad apps that will integrate? I see some apps that offer another screen for flight planning, charts and also some parts of the instrument panel. Just wondered if there’s any worth pursuing really. Thanks

I started using the Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Pilots: Real World Training last year because I wanted to learn to fly, the mechanics of it, and all the details but since MFS2020 was announced I thought I'd wait and start over again with the new game. Do you know if there's a book like the one I mention, or any sort of guide planned to release with the new game? Or should I just be patient? I'm sure the game comes with a tutorial but I enjoyed using that guide since it was so complete.

What do you think about the translated versions of the simulator? I've seen a few videos that used other than English versions and I feel the overall translation quality has vastly improved over past versions. I still wish they had some more aviation professionals go over the texts and everything, they still say stuff like "runway twenty-one" and use translated terms that are simply inappropriate in the target language when you think about aviation terminology. It would be great if the translated in-game texts were accessible for editing but I'm quite sure that ain't gonna happen. Furthermore I believe there might be a bug in the lessons, the very first audio from th…

Will the sim on August 18 be in a version digit that has never released before as the "final version"? or is it closed already as per the version distributed to some bloggers, and eventual fixes to be included later. Meaning are they making minor adjustments to this minute or are they "on holiday" as per their email says until Aug 16th

  19. Handy little web-tool for guesstimating how long your download should likely take at your rated Internet speed. Assuming the servers aren't swamped and it isn't all going to heck, https://downloadtimecalculator.com/ Estimated size of the download is 90GB but some are saying the release version is back to 127GB

  20. I can't prove it to you because of the NDA, but I've seen comparison shots between Grippersim's Bugalaga video (22:54 is a good view) using the release version vs. what the trees look like with the same view in the beta and it's night and day. There are some public preview shots of Bugalaga out there before the release version was given out you might be able to hunt down. I'm not just talking about hand-fixed trees around the airport, but miles into the distance on the peaks of the mountains and in the valleys the trees look to be about half the height and half the overall width, maybe even smaller in some cases, i.e. like they were shrunk by some global parameter. With t…

My plan: Friday - Visit the bank and pay off my mortgage, leaving me totally debt-free, allowing for all my funds to pay for MSFS add-ons! Saturday - Make the last few flights in P3D. Sunday - De-commission the P3D PC and place it in exile in the storage cupboard with all the other old PCs and their simulators that I'll never fly again (don't know why I've never got round to sending them to the computer recycling centre). Monday - Set up the new MSFS PC and the other new toys I've bought for it. At midnight, press the big button and wait for fulfilment - could take a while....! Tuesday - Spend the entire day exploring the whole new flight simulat…
