Through various betas of XP12 I have had issues with the way aircraft behave on the ground with hard or large left or right rudder inputs on the ground at low power and speed basically stopping the aircraft dead on you - making you center the controls and start again from my perspective it made for very awkward handling on the ground in tight spots. I went through the joystick control calibration routine where I also discovered another thing that XPlanes joystick controls - sensitivity sliders and then the control response curve are basically doing exactly the same thing (According to Austin they are thinking about changing it when he can get the curves sorted) So that wa…

Good morning. Sorry boring you with this. Since the last five days I haven't been able to connect to X-Plane server. Neither can I update neither after removing completely the program from my PC( don't worry I made a safe copy on an external driver!) I can install a fresh copy. I have downloaded 5 times the installer.exe and nothing goes on. Immediately I get a window dark grey asking if I want to cancel installation in progress? An error occurred during installation: unable to open a zip file. It may be missing or damaged. I click on Continue installation and I can click hundred times nothing goes on. I have been in touch with a technician from the X-Plane serv…

.) Jet engine thrust limits for max KEAS and max inlet temperature. This resulted from an exchange I had with Austin months ago, all beginning with a thread here on AVSIM about F-14 being too fast at low altitudes. So thank you AVSIM! .) Modeling of fuel-oil heat exchange (as it happens in real jet engines) and its influence on fuel temperature, also depending on speed, altitude, outside temperature, etc.; .) Modeling of break-away friction for tires resulting in break-away thrust to start taxiing. .) Refining of temperature model for reciprocating engines, based on real flight test data. .) Some final statements about other things the rest of the team…

Greetings, This is my first post so please be gentle... First of all, I want to clarify, I have done my research and watched a ton of YT videos. What I don't understand is Is the XP filesystem. Here's my dilemma...I use Ortho4XP 1.3x. They suggest you create a folder called, 'zzz_hd_global_scenery4'. Then I watch YT videos on Ortho4XP and they don't do that; the zOrtho folders are directly in the Custom Scenery directory. Then, after watching a ton of videos I came across one that mentioned XP-Tools, so I could extract the, "mesh" or "elevation" file. NONE of the other videos ever mentioned this. After using XGrinder and pointing, Custom_Dem to the e…

Who knows how to rotate second pilot column with VR controllers? PS: everything is OK only from the CPT seat in any plane. And it is impossible to rotate the First Officer column in any plane. Only pitch works .

In XP12 you may occasionally find these strange cataract lights. The source of the issue is a 2D texture. XP12 uses some 2D textures from XP11, including the "1000_lights_close.png" texture. I'll show you a comparison of this texture of XP12 and XP11. I'm sure you've seen where the problem is. In the XP12 texture has been changed: the designers have inserted a ugly "cataract reflection" that did not exist in XP11. Fixing the problem is very easy, just replace the texture "1000_lights_close.png". Click on the texture below ⏬ with the right mouse button... choose "save image as"... and copy it into the Lites folder overwriting the defau…

Hi there, I have been running panel Builder ver 2.x for many years on an AIO touch as n 2nd PC for Panel builder only (not my SIM PC), it worked on XP9/10/11/12 without any issues. After many years of service, my AIO touch PC packed up (MOBO dead) and a repair is not possible. I then bought an replacement AIO touch (old used i5=1st gen) installed WIN and panel builder. Panel builder runs, it sends commands to X-Plane (adjusting e.g. heading / ONH) changes in X-Plane but commands / changes from X-plane to the instruments = not working (instrument not changing to changes in X-Plane) The sim PC / network / router = all untouched / unchanged All sett…

I finally went to a friend that invited me some time ago to try HotStart Challenger in his XP11 installation. I also installed in his XP11 my visuals using X-Vision and ARO and some custom sky textures. Firstly, we were both amazed. Me because of Challenger and how good it is, and he because how better his sim looks after my tweaks. After cold&dark start, and some systems familiarization, I took off with a big smile on my face. What an addon. Not going to lie, but all other sims look like a toy after flying in a Challenger for a bit. After a bit of flying, I decided to follow some close AI traffic, to test manual flying. And yes, I'm 🤏 this close to purchase…

There's now a beta version of the Tobii head/eye tracking plug-in that plays nicely with the X-Camera system. (It replaces the current version of the plug-in deployed by Tobii Gamehub which confuses Gamehub about whether the plug-in is actually installed but that shouldn't be an issue once it's fully released.) https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/296016-tobii-plugin-with-native-x-camera-support-beta/& The problems integrating with the Tobii is the one thing that kept me from properly using X-Camera so I'm delighted to see this resolved.

After reading an article in a flying magazine (from the Bavarian aviation association), I searched also the internet for that simulator mentioned there. Here it is: https://flugplatz-genderkingen.de/simulator/ (in German). Not only that respective aviation club is using X-Plane 12 for their simulator, but according to the article in the magazine, it is almost structurally identical to a simulator at Diamond Aircraft. Excerpt from the website:

When I first started my training for cross country flights I made https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/43863-balkan-area-detailed-flight-planner/ To make the detailed part of my flight plan, and have basically more or less stuck with it since give or take a few minor changes that weren't worth shouting about. For my next flight I thought I would give little navmap a go, been a long while since I used it and saw it had had a lot of loving since then. https://albar965.github.io/ OHhhhh my, leaps and bounds doesn't cover the half of it. this isn't just a recommended app, its verging on a flight and sim essential.
