  1. My VR experience a couple of years ago started with the HP Reverb Gen 1. For a long time, I resisted the temptation to upgrade to the Gen 2 because I guessed the improvement would be marginal and had hoped that, within a year or so, an affordable step change might come available in the VR headset marketplace. But the affordable step change product hasn't yet arrived. And I was tempted a little more by the claims of the recently updated version of the Reverb G2, especially a modest improvement in Field if View. And so, I bit the bitter pill and bought it. And, for me, it is indeed worth the extra cost. The screen door effect is better than the G1. The co…

  2. I shot a video, but it's not worth the upload. Description follows: Played one low level challenge, no problems. About two weeks ago. After the update, when I try and start one, as soon as I am immersed in the cockpit, the entire HUD is obscured by what appears to be a Whte SpalshSreen that I remeber seeing normally as part of the challenge launch during my first successful Maverick challenge In VR (I only fly VR), [HP Reverb G2, RTX2070s, Ryzen 5000 32G,] It is pegged to the center of the sweet spot, making flight impossible.

  4. I’m sure many of you already tried this, but for me, this was the first time and it almost freaked me out for several seconds. I had recorded a flight over the Grand Canyon on an R44 helicopter with the free flight recorder, and I played it back in VR so that I could watch the flight again in VR without actually flying it. As I was over the abyss, I stepped out of my seat, and there I was, outside the R44 and “standing on the skids”. That was an incredible feeling, and for a while, I did not want to let go of the seat and try to move around. Don’t try that if you have a fear of heights. 😳 Anyway, once I regained my composure and ‘footing’, I was ab…

  8. I'm using the Varjo, but I don't see why this wouldn't work on other headsets. Basically you reduce the FOV using OpenXR Toolkit, putting your resolution into a smaller area. I reduced mine just a bit (to about 93%). No noticeable reduction in FOV, but a huge increase in clarity. Zero performance change since you're still outputting the same resolution, just into a smaller area.

  9. Hello, I changed from Pimax 5k to Vive Pro 2. I can tell, that this decision was very good for me as I really like the easy handling with the vive and the perfect clear view. 1. Whenever I start MSFS, SteamVR and Vive Console start now automatically when I arrive at the main menu. I still remain in 2d. This is not big problem, though I dont understand why it is like this. I would prefer, that these services only start when I start them manually, especially with Ctrl + tab. That was also the only way with my Pimax, which also useses steam vr. Sometimes when I close these services (still in 2d) I get a CTD. 2. I also see, that in contrast to Pimax it is …

HI guys, Having now delved into VR and loving it immensely (slowly getting my motion sickness under control!), was wondering if the above title would be worth getting? Anyone have this as yet? Comments? Also, on a side note, went back to v1.1.0 of XRtoolkit as seems to be more stable than the latest version as in not losing as many frames even with tweaking.... Cheers

Hi All, I have never known what my FPS are in VR , this utility has a great great option to display them , worth installing just for that function. so of course i have to do lots of test at various locations. Bowerman, New York, Iceland Stormy, Clear, Rainy . I don't have my frames locked. They vary very little between 39-42 staying pretty constant on 40. Is this good for VR or should I expect better with more fiddling with settings?

Being not as complex as pay ware I (naively) thought default aircraft would have higher FPS? I fly in Vr and default F18 get around 35. but in Just Flight piper Arrow same flight get a solid 45. Anyone else have this sort of result?

Are there any other VR headsets besides Oculus and HP that can actually run MSFS2020? Ive had an HP, a Quest 2 and a Rift S and I can't stand any of them, especially the Oculuses. I am having multiple issues with this Quest 2. Is Pimax or any others any better or have video cards not reached the level to handle them yet with this sim?

Hi, Some of you might have read about the OpenXR Toolkit, some of you might even be already using it. Chris has recorded an exclusive interview where Matthieu and I are sharing with the community everything you wanted to know about the team behind the OXR-TK project, how we did it, what we're looking for next, and many other VR technical infos (and even a few personal anecdotes!). You're all welcomed to tune your players to the Pie in the sky tours YT channel for the premiere!

  16. Hi managed to install this and navigate the menus by setting the time out to long ! I could not get them to go up a line, says SHIFT 2 but that doesn't seem to work for me, but found out just keep pressing CTRL F2 and it goes back around to the top. That's about as far as my ability gets me, Now can any Quest 2 users recommend what settings to change? Its all a bit over my head. I really have spent ages googling watching utube looking for tips but all seems a bit difficult to find for Quest Users. Also does the tool change the appearance only or can it improve performance? Thanks for any tips

Since WU8 (or was it WU7?) I haven‘t been able to use the replay function in VR. Before WU9, the camera wouldn‘t follow the aircraft and just stay where I stopped recording. After WU9 all I can see is a recording of what was shown on my regular monitor with very low-res graphics. Has anybody found a way to get the replay function to work? Or are there any user-friendly addons that work in VR? I don‘t need anything fancy, I‘d just like to be able to watch my landing after a flight.

  19. Hi Anyone else got this problem? Prior to last week's update, I had no button set on my HOTAS for the undercarriage but, instead, did the following: - Pressed the U/C lock with the VR mouse cursor for >2 seconds to unlock it - hovered the mouse over the lever to find the up arrow - clicked, which raised the gear - to lower it, or to set the lever into the middle position, again, just hovered the VR mouse cursor over the lever, chose the down arrow to either choose middle 'off' position or to fully lower the U/C Worked a treat And this method still works fine for flying in 2D post last week's update But in VR, the VR …

After many months trying to get Foreflight to work in native VR WMR, I finally found a Microsoft solution. I was in a business Teams session today and found out that Teams can stream iOS screens. So I set up a meeting on my iPad (using the iOS Teams app), started Foreflight on the tablet, then went into VR in my desktop. I then started Teams from inside VR and joined as a guest to the same meeting. The iOS screen was right there. I next linked MSFS to Foreflight with FS2FF, then in the VR cliff house I used the pin feature in WMR to keep the meeting window with the stream in it. I started MSFS, got in a flight, and lo and behold, I had Foreflight in the cockpit. You…

Today I'm building a new computer specifically to run VR in MSFS 2020, DCS, and racing Sims. I am not a gamer and it appears most folks are getting their games and also MSFS 2020 from Steam. What is the advantage of getting MSFS 2020 (also DCS and others) from Steam as opposed to just buying MSFS 2020 directly from Microsoft or some other retailer and installing it from a USB stick?

  25. Hi , In Open XR it says Runtime Manifest ; \ C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.jon Which from various googling and utube videos I understand is correct? I am very nervous about doing so as my VR setup is working well My logical mind is saying "DONT CLICK IT you may mess it all up" but a little voice is whispering "go on just d…
