Dear all, I am trying to find a way to use VR that makes it actually agreeable to fly VR. At the moment, my impression is that other than main controls, there is no easy way to manage the more complex actions in the cockpit, such as setting AP, adjusting engine controls, plane startup, frequencies adjustments, managing FMC etc without "typing blind" or having to do some counter-inuitive manipulations with VR handsets. Are there any solutions for this (including different VR headsets)? I am perfectly content not to use VR for the moment, as apart from the eye-candy, the current use of VR simply does not do for me what I would need to be ably to fly as if sitting …

Hi guys, been having a devil of a time (my own fault from tinkering) getting a smooth experience in sim with my G2... Tried settings at default - using open xr toolkit - the not - different scalings etc.... i seem to get the best performance with 50% render scale in the OpenXR Dev Tools and similar in game, but as you can imagine the picture is really bad... i mean, really bad! But smooth as butter! I keep also getting a message like CPU then a time like -0.4 sec or + .6 sec... not really sure what that means but assuming my CPU is not doing the business...even at 4.9Ghz! Im coming to the ominous conclusion that my system (even on mid to low settings) isn't…

So what are the experiences and opinions on VR in SU11 Beta? There are a ton of possible combinations of HAGS/Nvidia driver/DX11/DX12/LOD settings/Supersampling settings/Render Scale/DLAA - DLSS - TAA FSR2 etc and I use the OpenXR Toolkit also. For me the new FSR2 doesn't work: it produces a ghosting effect, and that only in my right lens, so it is terrible looking with 2 eyes... Other combinations produce all different results, all with own advantages and disadvantages. In general I have yet to find an optimal setting to prevent stuttering when panning my head and looking outside, esp. so in dense areas with photogrammetry and big airports. It is buttery s…

  4. I cant seem to get this combo working in MSFS.. anyone else have this combination and can comment? In the headset view when using at least steam vr you can see the controller, but not in MSFS with openxr Thanks in advance

Hi guys, My last headset just died, it was a HP Windows Mixed Reality, and I am looking for a new one. I have a medium config: Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2060, 32 Gb RAM I understood the HP Reverb G2 is the best ATM but it is quite expensive and I am afraid the Quest 2 will be too demanding and I'll have stutters while flying. So, is the Rift S a good option? Will it be better than what I had before? I found one for 200 euros which has been used only one hour so it is new... Thank you!

I'm using an RTX 3070 Ti with 517.48 driver and Odyssey+ headset. The framerate was constantly dropping below 15 fps (minimum for reprojection) with it set on DX12. I flipped to DX11 and it was at 20 or 30 fps. I have mostly high settings and the odd ultra, so don't expect much more than this, but I'm not sure why DX12 messes it up. I'm not quite sure what the advantage of DX12 is, should I see an improvement in visuals?

I am under the impression that this can be done without any additional software. I was able to find one YouTube video describing how to set up the controller bindings, but the video was too old and the settings in the sim didn't match to what's in the sim now. Can anyone point me to a video or article that explains how to get it working within the sim and what bindings work best? I am using a Quest 2 and have the controllers that come with it.

  8. It had jittery every several seconds, but now it’s gone. Mine is 9900K + 3900, grahic high/ultra, DLSS balanced. Framerates around 34 over London. Quest 2 bandwidth maxed. SU 10 is godsend for VR. I am very happy.

  9. Anyone else having issues with the Aero lately as far as getting audio out of the aero itself via its jack? (and also below, mouse tracking issues in vr) I have to disable all audio sources except the varjo to make it work in vr since the final su10 (maybe not related). If i leave the monitor enabled and do a test on the varjo device you can hear the test sounds, but MSFS just wont output now unless the aero is the only active device. Im on windows 11 21H2 Secondarly.. i always have a horrid time using the mouse in VR to do things like move navigraph around or other vfr maps, the mouse stops responding at certain areas, no matter if i have the screen …

Since SU I haven‘t been able to complete a single flight in VR. I have massive stutters and jittering (I don‘t know the correct term), either right from the start of a flight or after a certain amount of time. When I move my head a tiny bit and no matter how slowly, the image on the displays and menus „jump around“ making it impossible to play. I used to have this before occasionally and when that was the case, which was very rarely, rebooting did the trick. But now it‘s on every flight in the Fenix or the default A320. I tried lowering the settings but that doesn‘t help. DLSS doesn’t change anything. I did a complete reinstall of the sim as well but that didn‘t help eith…

The 3 goggle eye taskbar icons are OpenXR Tools (yellow), OpenXR Toolkit (black), and Mixed Reality Portal (blue). And the familiar black oval (Oculus). The 2 on the left in the orange square are entirely different! OpenXR Tools has nothing to do with OpenXR Toolkit. You need both with an HP G2 Reverb, for instance. Otherwise I don't see how you will get best performance and image quality. (That MSFS TOOLBAR is just a very tall vertical taskbar that pops up when the tiny >> above it to the right is clicked. All my MSFS links, manuals, apps are on that. But I digress). Compared to this video, OpenXR toolkit (black eye icon) has moved the menu items a…

  13. I’m not sure if this is the way it always was (probably was), but I just noticed that the Reverb G2 brightness gets lighter or darker as I move my head. If I’m looking straight ahead and I move my head down, the display gets brighter. Same when I move my head right or left. So, I’m not sure if my eyes are reacting to the different lighting conditions in and out of the cockpit, or if there is something inherent in the way VR works. Anyway, just curious if this is something in my setup or if this is a ‘normal’ condition with MSFS in VR. Thanks

Hi again folks. I am still very new to MSFS and everything that goes with it. When I am in VR I find that everything on the ground looks too bright and washed out. But I don't know how to fix that. Where do I go to control the general brightness of the headset image when trying to fly in VR? Truth be told I am getting so sick of trying to tune my system to use that I sometimes want to just ditch MSFS and go back to just playing native Quest 2 games. But I have too much invested in Honeycomb devices and addons to just give up. Thanks in advance for help.

I have been in the SU10 Beta since the beginning with no real problems. Today I installled the new 517.nvidia driver and brought the system up. Now, every time I hit the keys to switch to VR mode, I get a brief "Loading' message and then the simulator crashes. Thoughts on what I should do? Thanks. I guess I should add that I am using a Quest 2 via Link cable.

Had a quick tinker and I can't tell should I now use the Nvidia DLSS setting rather than TAA as I have a 3080RTX? My Nvidia driver is 31.0.15.1694, which I had to instal to get F1 2022 to work. I read that there is a new one coming out. Have not really noticed any graphic improvement. There is also a setting called reprojection, should that be on or off? Had a few instances of the Headset crashing but MSFS still running? Just when I stopped messing with settings new options come out....argggggg Any one recommend anything? I am using DX 11 and the Open XR toolkit Here we go again more tinkering than flying ;-…

Big regression for me in VR I can't play anymore with my FMC opencockpit module.. In 1.27.21.0In the airbus for example: pop out the FMC, in VR if you interact with it the undock windows will not change anymore. It does not react to the entries keysVery annoying because you can’t use physical hardare like opencockpit module in VR anymore https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/pop-out-panel-vr-no-longer-react-in-su10/543865

  19. Hi all, I have been using an oculus rift CV1 and an nvidia gtx1070 for the last 2 years since msfs2020 released. Ive never managed to get it to run smoothly, always with consistent small stutters even with all graphics set to low. And then there is the low resolution of the cv1 along with my ageing graphics card. My question is, how much of an improvement is it to swap from a cv1 to the lastest and greatest VR headset. Combing the field of view and improved resolution, along with a powerful graphics card and supporting hardware, I am assuming it would be a big improvement. which graphics card & head set would you recommend to maxim…

Is there some way to change the default seating position in VR. It seems every airplane has a different default starting position. I am able to adjust seating position to my hearts content, but I haven't found a way to save that position. Even exiting VR to 2d monitor and back to VR, and the seating position is re set. Is that normal? is there a work around? Perhaps I am spoilt by my Racing Sims, but I find this annoying and frustrating. I hear no complaints from anyone, so perhaps I am the only one with this 'problem', so I thought I would ask for a solution here.

  21. Update: all design files, Blender design files, 3D-print STL files, build photos and part lists for my Motion VR Cockpit and all controllers are now available for FREE DOWNLOAD (optional donation) on my website. If you are looking into building a similar rig - feel free to use my designs as a starting point. Some of you may know me from the 4 Canadian airports I made, but now I want to share a latest iteration of my Home-built Motion VR Cockpit - a whole new immersion level for MSFS on a $430 budget. I had an old post about the first version, but this one deserves its own. A frief history: I became interested in adding some motion to VR, but I quickly learned th…

Is there a way to run MSFS with SteamVR without getting a slide show? I have the MS store version of MSFS and so far, all works very well. But now, I need to use SteamVR as it is what is needed in my new Simrig motion platform to enable motion compensation. If I start MSFS from Steam and switch to SteamVR instead of WMR, MSFS runs like a slide show in VR. So, I am wondering if I need to uninstall the MS store version of MSFS and buy the steam version instead. Has anyone been able to use SteamVR with the MS store version of MSFS without getting horrible stutters and a slide show performance? Thank you

Hey guys, i started using VR googles, which demands a lot of performance though. I have a 3060 Ti and an intel 11900K CPU. I'm using the recommended settings from GeForce experience, which give me solid 22 FPS. However, if I change some settings within MSFS (object of detail, reflections), there is alsmost no change in FPS. Do you guys have any tips, which setting inside and outside of MSFS are useful to get more FPS`?

  24. Im suddenly having an issue where i cant get into real 3d vr mode, it takes me to a grey room with dual screens. Im not sure why this is suddenly happening. Im running su10 beta, but i dont think this is related to that, i’ve had this happen before but this time restarting etc, hasnt helped. Seems sometimes if i reset the vr settings to default and relaunch it comes back, but once i make changes from "low" mode in vr settings its back to dual eye. Anyone ran into this?

Hi folks. Up until now I have been using AirLink when using VR. I decided to use a Link cable since I read a number of well respected people on YouTube saying that's what they do. But, when I use a cable I get this weird ghostly background faintly all across the whole screen. It's not a double image or anything like that. It's just some kind of wavy ghost image. Now, let me tell you what I've tried: 1. Two different cables, one being the official Oculus link cable and one being an Anker certified cable. 2. I have tried (with both cables) using the USB3 motherboard direct port as well as a USB3 port oln the front of the case. I reall;y don't know h…
