  1. https://uploadvr.com/meta-talks-samsung-lg-microled-oled-microdisplays/ Meta is reportedly looking to secure next-gen microdisplays for AR glasses and future VR headsets. SBS Biz reports “dozens” of Meta executives have held private meetings in South Korea with executives at Samsung and LG’s display divisions. The companies are in discussions to supply OLED and MicroLED microdisplays for VR and AR devices, the report suggests. The Verge previously reported Meta plans to use microLED displays in AR glasses, expected to launch around 2026. https://uploadvr.com/apple-headset-delayed-later-next-year/ in January of this year, Gurman reported the product was delayed into 2023 due to “challenges related to overheating, cameras and software”, and in June Kuo claimed it would launch around June 2023. But Kuo now claims the headset has been delayed even further, to the second half of 2023 due to “software-related issues”. Kuo says he now estimates just 500,000 units to be shipped by the end of next year, compared to previous estimates of 750,000 units.

Finally bit the bullet and went for an all out upgrade to future proof for a while so VR will be less tinkering for me and more flying.... Its going to be very interesting seeing the difference between my old setup (i7 9700K RTX 2080 Super) to my new rig as in the specs below... Although it cost an arm and a leg here in NZ, it should last for a looooooooooong time - according to my good wife! 🙂 Will report back once everything is installed and working.... Any tips form the 4090 owners out there would be welcomed! Cheers

  4. Started by nojwod,

The following tips are from my experience, they should be important for all users but I guess it depends on each users' setup. I'm using the HP Reverb 2 and an11700K cpu and 3060ti card. Anyway, here goes: 1. Reduce the 2D window that sits on your desktop to the minimum size when entering VR. If I leave mine even half screen I see a drop in frame rates/performance. 2. Do not have any other programs running if you have a browser window or mail open, close it down. MSFS often runs the CPU close to it's limit, and even a few stray instructions form another app can tip it into a bottleneck situation, that like a traffic jam on a freeway, can take a long time to…

  5. Ever since the release of SU11, the thing I was looking most forward to trying was the Helicopter's. Especially the Guimbal is such a joy to fly, once you have figured out how to control the thing at near to hovering speeds without flying sideways, or spinning or underutilizing collective to stay in the air. My landings are still a bit... let's say it's good that I don't feel the forces. What I was absolutely not prepared for is how addictive just zooming around in those things is. Yesterday I flew from Skywalker Ranch, to San Francisco City Hall just by following the roads that I thought might lead me there without looking at a map and only us…

  7. Brilliant, I think a bit expensive cause not too much people buy it, it is without controllers, I think of course, if not, it would be a good price. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1036529930/hp-reverb-g2-hotas-flight-stick-system?ref=reviews

Had a chance to test one today, just using some wireless apps and apps pre loaded. As the reviews mention, it does have much improved sharpness across the fov compared to the quest 2. The contrast is better. Minimal or no god rays There's a very slight screen door effect and a brightness drop off as your eyes move away from centre, unlike existing headsets. Bright in the centre and noticeably darker at the edges The pass through cameras are pretty word not allowed and grainy, but good enough for finding a button on your physical controllers if you want to go mixed reality, however you won't be reading any labels. What you see through the cameras is perfectl…

Chase commercial online planes with the F18 like they were without radio and a fighter was called, from take off behind them in synchrony or in cruise, and try to flight in formation next their cockpit windows. I tried this many years ago with poor results, now... Wau, what an experience, a pleasure for the sights, entertainment and to polish skills. Apart from that, maybe you entertain online flyers the more bored stage of the commercial pilot flight. I would like to have one chase of that in my FS20 airliners, I never had one, and to watch the fighter like in real live they do, rarely sometimes. You can post your ones too here.

I Run MSFS via x box app, not via steam Occasionally when I launch into VR, i get a black and white image for a few seconds which looks similar to the steam VR loading page. When this happens, performance is dreadful. I have checked task manger and no entries for steam vr running. Anyone else see this happen? Anyone know what it is? Strange !

HI, While I tend to have sufficient frame rates in 2D and don't like to play around with graphic settings too much I could definitely use more frames in VR when sometimes using my Quest 2. Any guide on how to setup this FSR feature for AMD (having a 6900 XT@ WQHD)? Also, ist there a recommendation to either use DX 11 or 12 (in VR)? Thanks

Spot the difference.....guess we'll just have to live with VR being a very very low priority item for MS/Asobo going forward, shameful that they broke so much in SU7 (a year ago....) and still haven't bothered to properly fix their mistakes....let alone the new bugs we got in SU5....are you reading this Jorg Neumann? Sort your mess out and pay attention to VR please, this isn't good enough. /rant SU10: Depth Reprojection Option added to get smoother experience Adding a world scale perception option slider in the VR graphics settings Frustum Culling support for canted displays Fixed the default opening position in VR In flight panel window …

Without any Toolkit mods with the HP Reverb G2, the new DLSS setting really improves framerates. For those that don't want to tweak like the old FSX days changing this one setting once you get VR setup seems to be al that's needed. The only issue now is the gauge clarity.

  17. This is exactly what I am desperately hoping for in MSFS2020! And in particular for handling the FMS inner/outer/push know. Could we vote for this in FS2020 officially (I have never been able to setup my FS2020 forum account)?

  19. Anyone else out there irritated by the blurred focus visuals of the instrument panels in MSFS VR when viewed from the default cockpit position? If I use the right mouse button VR view, the instrument panel becomes amazingly focused and completely life-like, but that’s at inches from your eyes. But as the eyes’ distance away from the panel increases, I see increasing levels of blurring of its focus but not to the point of being illegible (except for the really tiny stuff). I used to think that this blurring is completely a side effected of the resolution, but another flight sim I fly in regularly, IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, does NOT exhibit the same level of focus blurrin…

Sim Innovations has released a beta version of KnobFS which is a utility that lets you use your Knobster in VR via a little popup menu that lets you choose a control and then make adjustments with the Knobster. Thread discussing the app (along with a link to download the beta) is at https://siminnovations.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6480 Note: this software will only work with an actual Knobster. It doesn't work with homemade knobs.

I used to be able to have 6 flights out of 10 flyable using my HTC Vive, but now it's unusable. The Steam VR graph shows either full purple or staggered reds, with no green at all. I've even tried shutting down every other piece of software I've got running on the PC, but to no avail. The best I can get is 1 frame a second. I'm running a Ryzen 5600 and an RTX 3080 with 32gb of ram. I've tried rolling back my card drivers, but that doesn't work. I've turned the VR graphics settings right down in MSFS, but that doesn't work either. It's not the VR headset (I don't think) because it will play all the other games I ask of it. It is literally just MSFS. I'm even considering se…

I recently got my hands on a VR headset (Oculus Quest 2) and I am thinking of trying it out in MSFS. I have never flown in VR. I have a few questions before I go down that road... - Is this headset compatible with MSFS, and if so, based on my PC specs in my sig, will the experience be good flying with the Fenix? - How easy is it to set up VR? Do I simply download some software from Oculus on my PC, turn on my headset and then turn on VR within MSFS? - Are the images / graphics as clear and good as when not in VR? - I have used TrackIR in the past and felt that any little movement of my head caused there to be too much movement on the screen? Is VR …

I have a annoying little problem: sometimes when I click on something in the cockpit, in particular on the right side, I suddenly get a 2D window with SDK Updates in my left eye view, and I would not now how to get rid of it. I have not seen any MSFS2020 VR reviews yet, just those 1920x1080p screen test with extremely high frame rates. How does the DLSS3 work in VR mode? If not, what is then the benefit of choosing RTX 4090 instead of RTX 3090?

  25. I'm getting a lot of artifacts with the Reverb G2 and MSFS's motion reprojection option turned on. It's incredibly smooth, but not usable at all due to said artifacts. Is there anything I can do to get rid of these? In the test scenario the sim was running at around 33 FPS in VR. I've tried motion reprojection in OpenXR and Nvidia control panel but none make any difference, at least none that I notice.
