This is not good! Microsoft Lays Off All Its VR, Mixed Reality, and HoloLens Employees: https://www.extremetech.com/electronics/342480-microsoft-lays-off-all-of-its-vr-mixed-reality-and-hololens-employees These cutbacks have already begun. On Friday, AltspaceVR—a virtual reality company Microsoft acquired back in 2017—tweeted that it would shut down on March 10. Microsoft had dumped the entire team. Microsoft additionally laid off its “Mixed Reality Tool Kit” (MRTK) group, which was responsible for the company’s open-source mixed reality framework for Unity. MRTK was due for a new version release next month; instead, it’s being put to rest. Bill Clark

Am I the only one noticing a substantial improvement in the readability in the TBM930's glass displays? I do not have to right-mouse zoom click as much as i used to. Great Stuff !

Hi everyone, looking for help. Everyday, I spend hours trying to get msfs to run smoothly and most times I succeed. However, every time I shut down the computer for the night and start it the next day, I'm back to trying to get it back to how it was the night before. Every time.... Any ides would by helpful. This only applies to vr. I'm using quest 2 with openxr toolkit, oculus tray tool on Windows 11 Thank you in advance. Rich

Hi folks. So I have a Quest 2. Currently in the Oculus app I have the graphics slider all the way to the right. Then I open the Oculus Tray Tool and set Supersampling to 1.4 and FOV to 0.7 anmd 0.7. I guess I want to know if people are even using the Oculus Tray tool anymore with VR, especially with a Quest 2. It gets so confusing between the Oculus app, the Oculus Tray tool, the in-sim settings, and the OpenXR Toolkit. I can only achieve about 35 FPS and not in heavhy airports and not using airliners. I have a 3090 and Intel I9-10900 so I feel I should be getting better performance. Can other Quest 2 users give me some insights as to how you configure…

Sooo, not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've previously run this headset on Elite Dangerous with no issues with this, but haven't tried MSFS yet since I knew my old 2080 wouldn't run it after trying a G2 a year ago and having to send it back for fitment reasons. I now have plenty of power to run it, but for some reason I'm getting capped at 45fps with brief jumps for about a second up to upper 50's (maybe higher but seeing like 57). I have the refresh set to 90Hz in the Oculus app, and I disabled PC ASW in the debug tool but it's still acting like it's running ASW. I'm using a VR Cover cable for link (the fiber optic one not the basic wired one). It's definitely no…

Hi guys, Clean weather looks perfectly fine in my reverb g2 but when I choose any of the Floyd's epic clouds I see a set of pulsating blue squares. Every 2 seconds they appear for half a second or so, very annoying. This doesn't go away when I lower my graphics settings. I use openxr and these cloudsets were never a problem. It appears in all planes btw. Any thoughts? thanks!!

Noticed this last night in the Vision Jet flying in real-time darkness. I'd see another airplane on the TCAS inset about 25km away, but wouldn't be able to find it visually if I looked where it should be. But if I'd look way off to the side of where it should be, I'd then see the other plane's lights out of the corner of my eye. Then they'd disappear when I turned to face them again. Is that normal or do I have a setting messed up? I kinda suspect it's related to that thing during the day where I often don't see other aircraft lights from certain distances unless I'm looking at them through a sunshade. The setup is a Reverb G2.

I love this plane in 2D. It's all I want to fly these days. I use the N5AM livery with GNS 530. I recently got a Meta Quest 2 and I'd say, controller-wise, we're about 80% of the way there but there are some fatal flaws (as I see them): I tried programming in a Direct To on the flight plan and found I couldn't activate or control the knobs. There is an overhead "roller knob" (is that what they are called?) to control the brightness of the flood lights. These work perfectly! But a similar knob to control vertical speed for the autopilot barely works. I can occasionally get it to increase, but I can never get it to decrease. You can imagine what this…

4K per eye resolution in VR is here: "Microsoft Flight Simulator and Project Cars ran absolutely smooth". check out the Pimax Crystal demo youtube below from MRTV. also check out "foveated rendering" through eye tracking which is very different from looking at a conventional full 2D-display giving you maximum resolution but only around a small spot your eye is currently looking at, as in Varjo aero, Sony's upcoming PSVR2 headset, Pimax Crystal, HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition, Quest Pro 2 etc: "PSVR 2 Features Include Eye Tracking, Foveated Rendering And More Beyond the PSVR 2 specs, the headset will have some big new features. The kit will be able to track the dir…

Hi all, I used to use a G2 a few years ago now but I quit due to low sweet spot, and sweaty heavy mess of it. I viewed I would return when things progressed. So, the question is, have they? What’s the BEST headset in MSFS these days? Is the clarity better? Sweet spot? How are they on the head now, still massive? I’ve been out the loop a few years now, so I hope it’s matured…

Hi I’ve recently done an upgrade to my Motherboard (ASUS X670) and CPU (AMD 7700X) which went well and has given me great results in VR with MSFS running in Windows 10. However, from my X-plane 11 days, I still had SteamVR loaded on my machine and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR. With MSFS bought direct from MS, I was running the Reverb with its default Windows version of OpenXR (by clicking the ‘Fix It’ flag on the WMR welcome screen) and so, technically, not using Steam or SteamVR. I am unlikely to go back to X-plane and so earlier today I started to tidy up my system, uninstalling the Steam VR and related apps. I attempted a re-install of the Mixed…

I'm posting results here so they won't get lost in the main MSFS forum. (G2 user). I recently was shown a video link that has a guy increasing his render scale (for fun) to 200%. He has a 4090 but I "only" have a 4080. He was trying to simulate the Varjo Aero headset I guess. I tried this just now and my results are as follows: 200% render with DLSS is somewhat doable in rural areas. TAA is NOT viable. (my test is FT KBOS with fsltl traffic and multiple cloud layers). With TAA fps are awful - barely 10 in my "crush my system" scenario. With DLSS "quality" the clarity is actually quite good. A lot better than at 100% render. I did not know it was po…

Hi I've posted some more technical stuff about the above recent upgrade I've done in the Hardware section - but I've now started experimenting with the VR settings to see what, if anything, it has done for me and thought it might be of interest to any folks pondering the same upgrade. I say, 'what, if anything, it has done for me...' as I am fully aware that GPU and CPU upgrades are inter-dependant in a sort of CPU/GPU Shuffle. Having sold my soul last year to get a 3080Ti GPU, this CPU upgrade is more about planning for the next GPU when and if I can ever afford one than any expectation of major gains at the moment. So, basically the upgrade was: - …

Hey gents, Now that the sim is all up and running, im looking to start with Vatsim again in VR...had planty of time in flat-screen... Ive just got the Navigraph subscription and that's just great! Integration with Fenix is seamless... Any suggestions as to what i would need for online flying (Have VPilot installed already) .. Im thinking i may need to start up in 2D mode to get clearances etc and then when ready for takeoff going into VR..but would take away form the whole immersion... Hoe to write stuff down with goggles on! Cheers

I sometimes forget about the avsim subforums - so I wanted to point people to a somewhat lengthy review of my experience with the G2 while using MSFS. I am a new VR owner. I had tried a little in the past though at friends' homes. Give it a read if you're curious

Anybody encountered this problem? Screens started to blink gray for just like a second on each eye randomly. Interesting thing is that it is visible on monitor reprojection also. DX 12, MR on stable 45 fps with 30% overhead. All Win11 updates, latest drivers.

Initial Thoughts: I've been a flight simmer for over three decades - simming in front of a monitor (or multiple) sitting in an office chair with modest peripherals (stick, throttle, rudder pedals). About a decade ago I purchased Track IR 5 and that has been my go-to method of simming (with charts and web pages on a 2nd monitor). Some years back I was able to try VR first with an Occulus Rift (tried P3D and DCS F18/F14). After that I tried DCS on an Reverb G2 running off someone's notebook (it was powerful however, using a mobile rtx 2080). Dogfighting in DCS was somewhat enjoyable, the clarity of the instruments were a lot better than in P3D (which I found quite …

Undervolting my GPU! Maybe I am late to the party? 😏 but I just starting diving into undervolting my GPU a couple days ago to drop watts, heat, fan speed, ect. Two days ago in VR I was still running low-med on the scenery end (clouds low) and high-ultra on textures with frames capped at 40. Gameplay was smooth and the cockpit was sharp but scenery was... 🤢. GPU temps were low 70's After undervolting my 3070ti from 1.081v (stock) to .900v with a tiny drop in clock speed and upped my memory speed. Still at 40fps capped and running everything med-ultra (clouds high) Wow, everything outside the cockpit has never looked this good! My VR experience is nice and balance…

Hey guys, My question is - with the native resolutions in VR as in OXRT set at 100 and in game world scale set to 100.... is the actual depiction of the flight deck as it would be in real life by default? I haven't had the chance to sit in the pilots seat of an A320 so not really sure what the comparison should be... Ive set my world scale to 120 in game thinking that might be the go... Any ideas? Thanks, Doug
