  1. I have been waiting a lot of years for this. With the OpenXR toolkit and suitable hardware you can now save a ton of GPU by enabling foveated rendering and only generating full resolution pixels where your eyes are actually looking. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/

HI does anyone use this in VR? Any feedback? i.e. worth installing or steer clear? My Sim is running well now so a little nervous about installing anything that might mess it up. Cheers

I tried my first night flight from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. However, I landed without a hitch, but taxiway lighting was none at all. I had to turn on "Taxi Ribbon to see my way to parking. Is there a way to get the taxiway to light up at night?

You would think having monitor switched on would take away resources from the gpu. If I am in a nice smooth flight, switch off the monitor to save a little power it turns into a stutter fest? Out of interest anyone know the science behind this? Doesn't seem logical to my little mind? 😉

My IPD is 72 and since the Quest 2 and G2 only support an IPD of 68 and below, I would like to ask those with high IPD eyes what they think is the best choice for a new headset that can still be purchased today?

Now let me start. I am no expert but I do get obsessed with trying to get the best performance I can I always had in the Oculus app set at 1x as anything above although improved the instrument sharpness introduced stutters when looking out the side. I am low and slow so this was ruining it for me hence dropped down to 1x. in the openxr app this was also set at 100%. ( the app NOT the open Xr toolkit). Now when I tried raising the resolution in the oculus app I did not change it the open xr app. Now today I have tried raising the open xr resolution app to 130% and then set in the oculus app 1.3 x 4228 x 2128. Hey presto still smooth out the sides and the …

  10. Hi My current system: I5-11600k RTX-2080ti 32GB 2666Mhz RAM It runs very well in normal sim mode (on the PC screen). And it runs as expected in all other games I've tested. Can't complain. The problem comes in VR - I'm NOT expecting wonders. The issue is because of a lack of improvement: I upgraded my processor from an old I7-3770 (and so, consequently the RAM from some DDR3 to DDR4, as I had no choice) because it was definitely bottlenecking the GPU in FS2020 and everything else. I'd given up on VR, it was basically unplayable, topping out on 20FPS, limited by main thread. I just assumed that this was absolutely true - perhaps it was. Unfort…

  12. Hi all. I am still struggling to get it looking smooth when looking out of the sides when flying low and fast with the default F18. I have improved the looks a little by upping the custom resolution in the open xr tool to 200% this seems to make it look better, but may be my imagination ! However in the oculus app I am having to keep it low on 1 x If I increase this it looks far better but really get some stutters . am I perhaps expecting for too much? I.e Is it either smooth and low res or high res and jerky? My pc is I7 12700 (some thing like that- away from it at the moment )with a 3800gtx on windows 11 32 gig Ram Any tips wou…

As the question has been asked about the Cessna 414 in VR in other threads I had to post a special mention of this bird as it is so well done in the feel of the aircraft. To give context not every bird has that wow factor as other do it blew me away. Feel of the real bird has to do with various reasons and not so much the detailed visual quality pushed out by the developers. Many times it's just the characteristics if the real cockpit that stands out not only in the sim but the real aircraft. Case in point I was surprised at Carenado's 182 in VR as I thought it lacking in 2d but it proved to be something totally different in VR. I cross checked it with the real bird …

Hello, Last week, I bought an Oculus Quest 2, because of my own 360 videos ! Today, I tried Vr & FS2020. Here are my comments : - Setup is really easy, I just followed this page - Assigning a button to reset the camera was easy too. - I feel like in a real plane : new experience - it's more tiring than using a wide flat screen. I feel better when I move my head slowly. - no stuttering with an ULM, some stutters with an Icon A5 (all settings to ultra) I only used my Thustmaster Yoke to fly. I suppose I need a mouse or my Oculus sticks to play with some instruments ! What input controls do you use ? Do you feel sick after a flight …

HI does anybody get this happening. Occasionally when sound glitches the Quest locks up, corrupted vison at the sides and the headset locks up. Pausing the sim , restarting the headset and switching back to desktop mode then back to vr mode sorts it out? Dodgy headset? Software glitch? Anyone else seen this happen? Debug tool and tray tool running on link cable and windows 11. Cheers

After a few months of really pleasing VR flying, just installed update 8 The great news is that the HOTAS now works even if the mouse arrow is over the ATC/etc boxes. The bad news is that I am finding it impossible to operate the mouse in VR. The aircraft is flying great - but once the aircraft is flying the mouse is taking up to a minute to get from one side of the cockpit to the other in a stuttery, juddery manner. I double checked that nothing was uploading at the same time, but it isn't. And - because I've had latency problems in the past with wireless mice - it's a wired mouse! Anyone else having this problem? At the moment for me it's unflya…

Since SU8 I, and others, have a double mouse cursor in the cockpit when zoomed into the instrument panels. A hot fix didn't fix the problem but someone in the forums said turning off "Home Cockpit" in the camera options fixed the problem; that worked for me until yesterday but now the bug is back. I have not changed anything in FS2020, AFAIK there has been no Windows nor FS2020 update so I am at a loss as to why the bug has returned. I have logged it at Zendesk

  20. I have had some really nice smooth flights recently. However it does revert sometimes to the stuttering/jerkiness issue, It MAY be a link between calling up the Menu button selecting the Map and moving it to a different position out of my straight ahead view where it opens up When it has become jerky a restart of msfs seems to fix. Difficult to pinpoint if this is the issue as haven't had a great deal of of time to test I tend to call the map up as I am currently just buzzing around enjoying the scenery from a-b in the F18 Just wondered if anyone else noticed the map /menu causing any issues? Thanks a lot. I am not a Purist simmer…

Hello all, This post is due to a total frustration with MSFS ... It is not a rant, and I really need help. Firstly, I have been able to have a total of 3 successful flights since update 7, repeat, update 7. The reason is that every time I log into MSFS I have to remap all my controls. All mapped controls work normally in non VR flight which I no longer use. The remapping takes up top an hour and a half and this is after lots and lots of practice LOL I have tried to copy and save the mapping controls in WGS but this does not work either for the next log in and flight set up. Has anyone had this same problem and what can I do to rectify it. I h…

  22. Hi all, As above, I am about to pull the trigger on ordering a new Quest 2 to replace my faithful early model Rift CV1. The question is, is it going to be noticeably better image quality wise? I'm pretty sure my PC is plenty capable. Has anyone else done this upgrade? Should I hold out for any other HMD's which are going to be launched? Thanks all and happy flying! Chris.

This has been happening to me since the Vr inception. I get very good performance in Vr mode. (even better now with the new OpenXR Toolkit); however if I have to exit Vr mode, the 2D mode is unusable as the sim drops to about 2FPS... I then have to close out WMR. With WMR closed my 2d performance is back to normal. I am using a G2 headset with a RTX2080 Super. (I forget the processor specks atm. But the system runs MSFS with most setting on ultra, comfortably.....while using the SWS Kodiak). The system has 64 Gig.RAM. Any advise appreciated. Thanks.
