FPS display counter for VR

Featured Replies

I only know about the developer display for MSFS. This is not visible in VR also it is rather big. Are there any good fps display counter that are visible in the VR view ?

I know two ways. There is a "Shift+Z" mod at flightsim.to which displays fps. Alternatively, you can use the much acclaimed OpenXR Toolkit which also offers an fps display (plus much more data on request and more functions).

Kind regards, Michael

It is visible in VR.

But yes, it has quite a bit of info...but useful info, telling you if it is the GPU or the CPU that is the limiting factor.

I have problem with Open XR Toolkit. I see it in VR after CTRL F2 but I can't change any settings with the mouse and the window soon disappear after being opened

The toolkit isn't operated by the mouse but by Ctrl+ F1 / F2 / F3. Needs a bit patience to get used to but works. It's in the documentation worth reading anyway. You can modify those keys via the accompanying desktop app.

I rarely use the developer mode counter but don't see it usually either. However, I think I once saw it high up in the sky making me think it's perhaps on display but somewhere where you usually don't find it. Perhaps there are parameters to shift it?

Ah...apologies.  I was thinking of FPSVR in X-plane which is very visible in VR.

Ref in MSFS, @pmb is correct:  the FPS info box is there....but it's too high up in the VR view to be able to see anything except the edge of it!

To remind myself (because it is something I also only occasionally use) I have just booted up a flight in Developer Mode using my Reverb Gen 1.

- The FPS block remains there on the monitor screen, even when the view has been switched to VR.  So all the info is readable but you do have to lift off your visor to see it

- In the headset, I can just see the corner of FPS block but pretty much out of view in the top right periphery of the left lens of the Reverb

- No sign of it in the right lens

So yes - it's there...but it is not in a position that you can see (other than, in my setup, just the very bottom corner of it!)

I had a fiddle around with some of the Developer menu options, but couldn't seem to change its position.  Might be worth us logging it, because it would be useful if they could reposition it.
