Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I just completed an absolutely flawless flight from KJFK to TXKF in the latest experimental build of the FBW A32NX in SU8. Asobo really knocked it outta the park with this one! My performance was buttery smooth and I had NO performance degradation over the course of the flight. The weather depiction was spot on and I dare say looked quite a bit better than it did yesterday. These longer betas are the way to go. Keep it up Asobo! (Somewhere in New York Oceanic airspace)

upon loading a screen appears saying a major update is available them directs me to the "Microsoft Store". how can one update from the store ? I am totally blocked from entering my sim..... to allow for an auto-update. HMmmmm I wonder what gives.

I gave up playing MSFS last summer because the never ending flow of MS Store updates and hidden updates in the content manager meant I spent more time waiting for unnecessarily large downloads than playing the game. How has it evolved since, have Asobo and Microsoft fixed that awful updates flow or do you still need to download 20GB from 3 separate locations before you can take a 20 minute pre dinner hop in a Cessna?

About once out of five sim startups I experience very strange mouse control and I cannot figure out what it means or how to change it. It is not repeatable. If I shut down the sim and restart it the problem does not recur. I have two screens with the sim running on one and Navigraph and other stuff running on the secondary. Moving the mouse around the cockpit (not in VR) everything works as expected until the cursor is within 1" of any edge of the screen. When the cursor touches the area within one inch of the edge - the screen image suddenly changes so that the center of focus is now where the cursor WAS at the point it touched the 1" boundary. Hey all, I was one of the skeptics of another beta which will be a disaster but I have been pleasantly surprised to be honest. The weather is much improved and metar is VERY realistic, at least where I live and other areas where I have done some test flights. there are two major things I did to get better smooth performance. 1) lock FPS to 30 and either use v synch in MSFS or use G synch if your monitor/TV has it. This has COMPLETELY eliminated 99% of stutters I can honestly say. 2) Upgrade to win11 and get all the latest drivers(been CTD free since I did this). So currently I have for the first time a stutter free smooth experience w 0 CTDs. Just trying to help…

I just downloaded SU8 and re-booted and loaded the Cessna 208 and have a pilot/copilot that I cannot seem to get rid of. In the cockpit view, I am essentially looking through the pilots sunglasses. Anyone know how to get rid of these things? EDIT: Just tried the default without the mod and the pilot/copilot go away in the cockpit view. Sorry, should have tried this before posting.

Last beta (SU7), I was forced to completely reinstall my entire sim because I didn't leave the beta before the final release of SU7. Looking forward to the final release today of SU8, I withdrew from the SU8 beta three days ago, and my files were perfectly restored to SU7. Everything worked perfectly. Today, however, my entire sim was involuntarily deleted once again, and I need to once again reinstall the whole sim. I have a fast internet connection, as well as a backup. So this isn't the end of the world for me. But please note how ridiculous this entire updating process is. My sim was deleted first because I didn't uninstall the beta before final release. All is well with the world. My cat is asleep on our bed and in another 19 hours his beauty sleep should be complete and my dog is out the back. I have taken him for his walk before it gets too hot and I always walk towards the city from my house in Parafield Gardens (next to Parafield Airport). If you were to take off from one of the East/West runways towards the West you would see a Soccer/Cricket ground in front of you. It is ringed with trees and the Club House is on the Western or far side of the ground. I do a circuit of this before heading for home. Anyone know if there is a deice crew and truck mod for MSFS2020? Would be nice to remove some of the ice from the top of the engine and wing, stab..etc.

I really enjoy the ATC communications, but why do they say decimal? Not sure how it is in other parts of the world, but here in the US, it's said 'point", which I'm sure most of you already know. Lots of times, even that's omitted during readback. For example, if ATC says "contact departure on 124.25 (one twenty four point two five), the pilot might say "over to departure on twenty four twenty five" or just "twenty four twenty five..."

I had an interesting experience the other day, and posted about it at the official forum as that seems where most of the weather discussions take place. After the less-than-optimum release of EGLL, here is the next major airport, Rome Fiumicino LIRF by MK Studios. It's available via ORBX Central https://orbxdirect.com/product/mkstudios-lirf-msfs and SimMarket. While I think MK Studios is a proven developer, I'm a bit hesitant after the EGLL release. When MSFS first came out I ran it on a 2015 build PC (potato) that couldn’t run P3D without black or blurry textures...it did OK but stuttered in Seattle and elsewhere. Its specs a 6700K 4.0 GHz, 16GB RAM, 1070 8GB graphics card that I installed in this old Dell runabout ordered off of Amazon with little knowledge of gaming PCs. So a year ago I bought a 10900K RX 6800 16GB GPU and 32GB PC and it’s awesome for pinball simulation...but MSFS stuttered until recent updates. I unchecked "aerosol" in seeting and have done 3 flights with NO studdering and "persistant download" set to 5. Try it!

Is there anyway to reduce the snow on runways / taxiways when using AccuSeason? Right now when I try to fly out of airports in the mid-west, I can't even see the runways and taxiways; I just have to "split the difference" between lights. Thanks, Dave

Somehow I messed one of my aircraft up, and I can't get it to go back. The 172, if I click the autopilot button, the AP turns on and off again immediately. The only way I can set the autopilot is by pressing z. This has been going on for a while, so restarting the sim or the computer hasn't made any difference. Any thoughts?

Had a flight earlier, when all of a sudden, an Azure message popped up saying that text-to-speech had been disconnected for some reason or another. I thought maybe my connection had been lost, but there was still live traffic flying about so that seemed odd. So I quit my flight and returned to the Home Screen. Tried Marketplace, and it was all up and running, so clearly not a connection problem. Upon re-starting my flight I was surprised to discover that the ATC voices had changed. Instead of getting the usual American voices, I was delighted to be listening to regional, British accents. I’m wondering why I don’t always get voices that are location driven? Nothin…

This is probably the fifth time MSFS refuses to start and I keep wasting time following guides and steps, trying to fix it but I still have no luck. I'm extremely frustrated at Microsoft now for their shoddy store programming, I really wish they had made MSFS2020 independent of any store, like X-Plane or the previous iterations, those were much more stable. Clicking the Microsoft Flight Simulator icon, either dekstop/start menu or from the store, just opens the MS Store on "Gaming Services". I followed a guide which told me to A) install all updates for the MS Store B) go in settings -> apps -> reset Gaming Services C) Run Windows updates Still no dice…
