Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hi all, Dino from IndiaFoxtEcho was kind enough to give me the upcoming Sukhoi SU-31 to take for a quick ride and I wanted to record my initial impressions and discoveries as I took the aircraft on a quick flight to see how it handles on the ground and in the air. I hope you agree that it’s rather well-done, and though I am admittedly far from an aerobatic aficionado, the work Dino and the team put into their aircraft always shows and this bird is no exception. Does anyone else share my dislike of the grass in MSFS. It just looks so overdone and unrealistic to my eyes. Perhaps it would be possible for a third party dev to produce something similar to what was available in FSX? Didn't Orbx release HD grass or something? Just wondering how easy/difficult it would be. Trees also would be a nice option IMO.

I get a little bit of shuttering / lagging but don’t want to turn down my settings. I’ve watched some YouTube videos but the technical stuff going above my head. Ive seen my 16GB memory near full at times when using MSFS will getting another 16GB help? Currently have 2x8GB DDR4 3200mhz

I clicked on the sim yesterday and it was very much like I had never launched it before. It asked me to set my level for graphics and some other stuff (to which I wasn't really paying attention, so I couldn't tell you.) Once i realized what it was doing, I tried to Esc and skip, but it wouldn't let me. Did others get the same or was I considered special and got this privilege?

I currently own the following airports in the US and Canada KPDX - Portland - Flightbeam, CYVR - Vancouver, Toronto - FlyTampa, KFLL - Ft. Lauderdale - Latin VFR KORD _ Chicago FS Dreamteram, KIAD - Flightbeam KLAS - Las Vegas Latin VFR and a couple of freebies from flightsim.tp Philly KPHL and KHOU -Houston. If u have any suggestions, basically newely developed airports, but I want to stay away from Orbx, I know they make great sceneries, but had a lot of problems with them in FSX It just seems the major developers such as flytampa are a bit slow on the pedal, and yes I recently purchased Toronto from them, and its asolutely Gorgeous!!!

Princeville Hawaii is one of my favorite small airports in the real world and the just released scenery over at SimMarket does is justice hands down. I won't make this long but this one has to be seen to be believed. The approach/departures into this airport is very scenic and very much representative to the real world. At MSFS add-on sales shops in Europe I see this sometimes, what does 'withdraw' mean? "By downloading the product, you lose your right to widthdraw the product according to European Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights"

Hi, Has anyone seen (or know of) a sound mod or addon that gives you that low frequency rumble you hear when you are holding short and the plane in front begins it's take off roll. (or lands and goes into reverse thrust) ? That, to me, would bring huge ambience but I'm not sure if it would be an AI sound or something else.

I was getting ready to launch a 9h49m flight from Mexico City MMMX to Rio de Janeiro SBGL and marveled at the choreography involved and what a potential challenge to make work w/ RT Online Traffic. If MSFS is using FlightAware (I read they are), if I use FlightAware it does not track position during taxi but does indicate when taxi commences and when takeoff happens and some intermediate spots I think as well. So they have to figure out how to coordinate all of this while at the same time accommodate actual traffic AND have it more or less jive w/ ATC to make matters worse! I mean look at this congestion which did get stuck for a minute or so before everyone got lined …

I (we) have arrived! 🙂 In P3D, I flew the Baytower RV7, the Carenado F33 Bonanza, the Lionheart Kodiak, the Alabeo C421, and for faster flights, the Carenado TBM 850 Now, in MSFS, I fly the SWS RV14, the Rob Young G36 Bonanza, the SWS Kodiak, the FSW C414, and for faster flights, the default TBM 930. I've got the TDS GTN750 installed in the RV14 and C414, and Working Title avionics in the other aircraft.. P3D has just been sitting there as a testbed for user mod questions from the past which are becoming less frequent, and it is about to be removed altogether, just like FSX before it.. Hi guys, resorting to this forum for help, reinstalled fs2020 today as it was playing up.. crashing while loading on the loading screen with the blue bar. reinstalled the whole sim thinking something could be at fault so new community folder and drive formatted on the first start-up the sim still closes . lunching through steam. latest drivers I7 10700K RTX 3080 Many thanks.

Hi guys, I understand there is a little fix around to stop the logbook popping up as soon as you cut the fuel..not the most realistic. Is there a link or can someone explain how to stop it. Dave

What happens with the development of his add-ons. It is quite calm. I think his "Seasons" add-on is already in a good shape and I'm not sure that it can be further improved. But what's about "Islands and Boats"? Wasn't it supposed to get continuous updates according to user demands? The last update was quite some time ago.

Hi all need some advice in removing small micro stutters that happens when turning the aircraft on the ground. My specs are on the bottom and I have my frames caped at 30. I have watches so many videos on this I'm overwhelmed.

I flew the sim since the latest update with no problems a week ago flying the standard 172. Started the sim a few minutes ago and my default 172 is missing. Help! What can I do to fix this. I have no addons or mods installed. Thanks

I find with my monitor 3440x1440 , that a zoom level of 63 gives a better result, and less "Fisheye" effect. Now I have to change this everytime I start a flight. Is it possible to "fix" this somewhere in a setting, I might have overlooked something, but can't find it.

IRL how does ATC refer to the TBM930?

BRDesigns who did the Beech Debonair 35 and Bonanza H-35 V-Tail that I quite liked have a new release of the ERCO Ercoupe 415C. A few days ago I was flying the Just Flight Arrow from Aleppo to Baghdad, using only radio navaids and Little Nav Map. This leg of the flight was from the VOR at Deir Zor (DRZ) to the VOR at Baghdad (BGD), a distance of 236nm, on the 116 radial, and at a constant height of 5,500ft. Both VOR types are designated 'High' and both have a stated range of 130nm. Therefore, I assumed that with the VOR ranges stated, there would be an overlap period in the middle of the flight where both VORs would be detected ( i.e. combined range of VORs = 260nm, while the leg distance was 236nm, and so giving an overlap in the middle of 24nm). I've been having this problem lately which happens once every few flights where if I go to external view and pan around, when taxiing at an airport for example, my screen might freeze, and then a few seconds later, MSFS shuts down. If I go into event viewer, I see what the title of this topic says. This happened just now when taxiing for takeoff at LAX in the aerosoft CRJ. I get smooth frames locked at 30, then when I went to external pan view, my frames dipped to about 26 to catch up back to 30, and then it froze and crashed. Again, this doesn't happen every flight.
