Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Working out the kinks of MSFS. PMDG DC-6 tutorial asks to load a *.PLN, dialog box only sees *.FLT. Before I installed the Workplace GNS 430/530, I think I remember that the dialog box saw the *.PLN files, now only *.FLT files are acceptable. What am I missing? I can create *.FLT files but why aren't *.PLN file acceptable. Thanks, Jim Driskell

Hi, The sim is not starting. It stops just between the final (new) seconds counting and the "explosive" black screen. Then, if I run control + Alt + Supr, and the Task Manager opens, without doing nothing, it continues with the startup process, but generally stops again to halfway down the bottom bar. I restored two or three times the application, and then it goes well for a while, but after a flight or two it happens again. I don't know what to do. Anyone has had the same problem? Hi there, just a short notice: the Experimental Version of the A32NX will be retired shortly as we have completed the majority of the major feature testing and development associated with the branch. We will continue to introduce new features into the Development Version. Users currently on Experimental will be able to transition seemlessly to Development using our installer. I installed the latest Nvidia driver (536.23) last week and have encountered TONS of stutters on every flight, no matter the aircraft and no matter the weather or time of day. I rolled back to my prior version (531.29) and although I have only done one flight, I have had zero stutters since the rollback. I ignored the warning that now pops up that you should update to 536.23 and all worked well. This is with DX12 and a 4090 card running at 4k with almost everything on Ultra and 200/200 LOD settings.

Hello to all! Today I wanted to try something different, so I installed the C152 improvement mod by WBSim and JPLogistics. Almost everything work’s OK, exception for the Airspeed gauge, that doesn’t work. Did a search, but it seems it doesn’t affect others. Any sugestion, appreciated. I had a chance to chat with Jorg at FSExpo. Really nice guy, very much into understanding customer feedback and being connected to the community. I asked him specifically about multi-threading in FS2024. He told me that they are indeed re-architecting some things to have more discrete processes so the title can better utilize multiple processors. He specifically mentioned that an area of focus is the separation of physics/flight dynamics processes and he expects FS2024 to make much better use of multiple processors. This is not a generic flight simulation question because MSFS has some specific pluses that I like to consider. First, I like that MSFS has massive support which makes me feel very positive about my hobby. Second the sim feels solid and not flakey like previous sims aka FSX. Third I really like (despite naysayers) the MarketPlace and the ability to do one stop shopping for upgrades. It really helps me keep my purchase together. What is your take? sp

When it comes to ATC addons it seems that voice control is the preferred option by most simmers. I wonder if this is really true or if those who prefer voice control simply are more er... vocal. 😉 I myself prefer button control. In fact, I wouldn't use an ATC addon that only offers voice control. With BeyondATC on the horizon I do wonder what everyone here on AVSIM prefers.

Can anybody please help me ? As my sim won’t load. The logo comes up and loading for 20 seconds then ctd . I have tried the power shell method and deleting games services and re-downloaded it. but not working my ms store says 2.44gb install offensive initials not allowed? thanks Mike

In my MSFS Community folder I have one main Community folder which holds all aircraft etc and two empty folders marked as 2 and 3 so that I can switch between folders when necessary eg. for updates. I find now that I cannot switch things around because I am being told that I need to close the file or folder and try again. In the main Community there is a new Folder Titled Official and inside of that is a Steam folder and inside of that there are at least 100 files of Asobo and microsoft aircraft etc. This, I believe may be the problem and, at the same time my system start up time went from 2 minutes to nearly 8 minutes. H!, Everybody I am wondering if some body could come up with a few answers for me kindly. It's regarding the remote flight panels those are now available for MSFS2020, may be some simmers are using the APPs and they should know how to set up the rig with iPADS. All I want to find out, is, do I need to install all panel APPs (I want about 4 panel apps) in to ONE iPAD like HD COCKPIT , HD MAP, HD GLASS ete.or do I need to install each APP into each iPAD. seperetely. I watched a video but it did tell how to install the actual panel APPs. He explained nicely about installing the server and other program. With kind regards By the way I have 3 old iPADS

I originally purchased the base package of MSFS. I would like to have the 787 since they now have the avionics upgraded. How do I do this besides paying 80 or 90 USD to upgrade my MSFS package? Or is the upgrade required?

I'm trying to assign controller switches to the MSFS own controls options, but when I want to validate an assignment I entered, MSFS gets stuck and I cant do anything anymore. Only thing I can do is restart the sim, but this way I'm not going to get my controllers assigned, of course. What do I do to get unstuck, or even better, not get stuck in the first place?

Hi, I have a question regarding the fenix a320. So when I start a flight and I turn on the autopilot, the flight plan on the navigation display is a dotted line instead with of a continuous one. Because of that the autopilot isn’t able to take any turn by itself and it requires me to change the heading. Why does it do that and how can I fix it? Here is a video:

Some people seem to be having this issue and others not, so perhaps it's not a specific Asobo limitation on LOD, but whenever I fly on VATSIM (I use FSLTL) or fly multiplayer with friends online, the AI aircraft's landing gear is not visible on the ground (nor on approach ) until the aircraft is in very close proximity of your own aircraft. So AI aircraft at a distance seem to float or hover around the airport - annoying. Can anyone shed any light on why this happens, and more importantly, how I can fix it. Has anyone experienced unexpected crashes in MSFS after the latest update? I've had two, on 6/24 and 6/26. Maybe it's just me but I'm wondering?
