Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I purchased MSFS 2020 in April 2023. I dabbled with it only a few times as work demanded my time. Having been a veteran of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator for 0ver 25 years, I know my way around the software and had been flying the PMDG 747 since it came out for FS9 and FSX. One sad day in mid-2024, I fired up MSFS 2020 and much to my surprise, I now had to log in to access the App. I diddled with getting the log in details worked out (I thought). Then work precluded any further thoughts of flying. Finally, in late 2024, I attempted to again fire up MSFS 2020. I could not log in, numerous attempts to have Microsoft send me a six-digit code to my email account …

So I just started learning to fly the C-17 that comes with 2024 but I ran into a few issues with the AP and don't see a specific tutorial that covers the AP. So after I took off I engaged the AP switch and AT switch however I had issues with all the modes and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. So the first issue I had was with the ALT mode. I couldn't figure out how to get the plane to hold a specific VS that I set on the Panel. Secondly, I pressed the HDG hold button and could see on the HUD that it said HDG and showed the number I had set in AP panel, but the plane wouldn't turn to the heading only part way. Would love to see if payware planes could incorporate this into their EFB or at least give us the option to us Navigraph vs the vanilla LIDO charts. I don't like subscription services and would like to pay once to own. But that's just my personal preference. But now that MSFS 2024 includes LIDO charts. I would love to see third party developers such as Fenix, PMDG, Inibuilds, iFly, etc incorporate it into their EFB's. It would be great for those who don't have navigraph subscriptions.

I'm using the latest DLSS 4 dll files and would like to know why my info on the bottom left says AUTOEXPOSURE: ON, while everyone else I see is OFF. Where is the setting to disable autoexposure?

I've seen this anomaly in my passenger count when loading my ZFW into the FMC in both the 738 and the 77W, and I'm wondering if somebody could point my in the right direction.. Example: I generate my flight plan in SimBrief and it gives me a PAX count of 324 for the 77W, RKSI to VHHH. This gives me a ZFW of 206.0 When I manually enter the ZFW number into the payload tab in the FMC, it doesn't give me a PAX count of 324, instead it gives 200. The cabin layout shows 9/12 in Business, 114/250 in economy for example, lots of missing seats. GSX then uses this 200 count also when I start boarding. My question is this.. Recently I did a flight to MYNN and saw the cube at the airport again. I disabled all my addon airports and can't believe that this thing is still there. I thought that I had fixed it years ago, but I guess NOT. Does anyone have a fix that they can share? So far I'm 80% very unimpressed w/ their new method of rendering and cloud depiction. Today from what I've seen now in 14 flights I'd gladly keep 2020's rendering over this. I can see some areas of improvement but some weird artifacts and strange patterns. This new voxel grid can span the entire screen but usually only certain parts and edges. This screenshot was edited to highlight the grid so it's very faint in the sim, when it appears, which is not often but can present when close to clouds in certain lighting. The usual autopilot functions have gone weird. In a number of aircraft like the Black Square Baron, Citation Longitude, Flysimware C414 etc. When I engage autopilot with say, HDG, VS mode, the annunciator panel shows the selected modes, but the autopilot just levels the aircraft off, and flies straight and level. If I move the hdg bug, nothing happens, no modes seem to work, but are shown on the annunciator ok. I've tried different hardware, re-doing the bindings, disconnecting all but essential peripherals, but nothing helps. getting sick with this. I finally managed to setup the Thrusmaster Stick and Throttle Quadrant for 2024 and the Fenix. Applied the Branke (not parking brake) to button 1 on the stick. But when on ground the plane only moves when going into TOGA. It seems the brakes are in some way not working but i have no clue what else to do. I deinstalled the Fenix, deleted all folders but no success. Any ideas from you guys ? Thanks a ton, Carsten

Flight control profiles are not saved. I encountered an issue yesterday. During loading, I received a message about synchronizing my settings from the cloud. I hadn't changed anything on MSFS2024 previously. I couldn't stop the process, and once it started, all my settings, including graphics and controls, were corrupted. Previously, with help from one of our members, I followed a tutorial and successfully reset my flight controls, saving them without any issues. I deleted the content in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\SystemAppData\wgs. Everything was saved, and it worked fine. …

Hello all, I have been flying in MSFS 2024 since November and have run into an issue several times this winter (U.S.A). When I plan a flight I check the METARS and the conditions at the destination might be Marginal VFR or IFR, but when I arrive I can't see the runway until my wheels hit the ground. I am flying the Flysimware Learjet with Active Sky. I know in the FSX days that it was a common complaint that the sim couldn't really do IFR conditions, but this seems to be an opposite problem. Just a few minutes ago, I flew into KMRH which had 5 mile visibility but a ceiling of 1300 feet. But again, I never saw the runway and just pulled up at the last second base…

I recently moved to a triple display with my 4070 TI gpu and I noticed a frame rate drop from 50-60 to 15-20. I’m running payware scenery and Fenix a320. Is it too much for my gpu to handle? I tried DLSS with DLAA and still nothing with autofps running. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

I wanted to test this new LLM capability, so I did something I would not dare do on VATSIM. I called Bremen Radar: "I don't remember my destination. Could you please tell me where I am going?". As expected, the polite controller answered: "Your destination is Kastrup." He then added the unexpected (verbatim): "Don't worry about it. It happens to the best of us". Now, that is neither realistic nor immersive but it is certainly impressive!

Hi All There does not seem to be any way to map the fuel cut off levers in the Asobo Max 8 to any hardware buttons, I have tried the usual ways with FSUIPC and Spad.Next but no luck, anybody been able to do this or perhaps this functionality is missing on this plane and its necessary to just use the mouse to select them, thanks Wayne

For some odd reason, and I have spent, literally all afternoon trying to sort out, I can't assign prop or mixture to my quadrant, via, MSFS, FSUIPC or Axis & Ohs. Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers.

Hello, I used to enjoy group Bush Flights in 2020 with various groups usually through a Discord channel. All the old groups are/have moved to using 2024, I'm sticking with 2020. I miss this plane in the FSX/P3D days and was wondering if there's anything close or better than it for MSFS 2020/2024? I love having a mixture of analog and digital glass cockpits like the lancair, and would love to see a plane that has a mixture of both.

Is there an issue with Live Weather right now in 2020? I ask because I am only getting clear skies. When I check to see if Live Weather is on and the AS Preset is selected, if I toggle the live weather button, i'll get clouds that depict what is happening currently then it immediately goes back to clear skies

I was hoping to get my default device profiles back, After all my profiles disappeared. Not so. How do I get the default profiles back? All the devices are listed. But no default profiles. Did I miss something I have to do? Thanks Bill McCracken
