Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Not even able to program my "unrecognized" CH-Yoke yesterday, no matter what I did and tryed (and it should not be rocketsience!) but today, this morning, my "unrecognized" CH-yoke is GONE from my control menu! This is crazy...

There's been some talk of missing water masked areas that were in the presentation videos, but not in the game. I found a video that shows that there are places with it and boy, it looks good. https://youtu.be/X5-iuY997yA

It seems like precipitation can't be affected to a cloud layer, am I wrong ? it's just configured via general parameters of the weather so what layer of cloud is generating the precipitation ? only the lowest one ? that's not good... also, there is literally no fog.. I tried clouds at lowest altitude but the visibility can't be reduced very much

I changed the settings by setting the limit to 500 and the path to my D drive and it's taking forever to update the rolling cashe. Any idea of how long this takes and why? Thanks. Jose PS: If you want to avoid this wait time avoid what I just did. 😀

Is there a way to mapp a keyboard commando to the joystick? Maybe im to tired after fiddling around half the night to figure it out.......zzzzz

Hi, if I need to reboot my pc, and if I put the download on pause, is it possible to continue and unpause the download once the pc is rebooted ? thx for your help

On my installation, after clicking the MSFS icon, the machine sits idle on the desktop for about 30 seconds, then after a 15 second black screen, the intro videos begin playing. Is this what everybody else is experiencing? I'm not complaining... just want to make sure my install isn't borked (seems odd that it wouldn't at least produce a banner to show that I successfully launched the simulator).

Morning all - or maybe good evening depending where you are. After a 15 hour download, I thought I was ready to fly - but cannot work out how to bind the controls - as I want to change the default bindings. I have a Thrustmaster Hotas Joystick and throttle and VKB rudder, and for the life of me I cannot fathom out what I need to do. All and any advice greatly appreciated.

When I load up a flight and everything comes up I have to set the camera to Smartcam immediately or else the camera is panning around. When I do this immediately after I hit the right mouse button or the scroll wheel on the mouse, the view zooms to 1000% and I can't see anything. Am I correct that to move around in the cockpit you push right mouse button and move the mouse? I can't get past this and it's very annoying. Any help at all would be appreciated, thanks! Hello, I successfully installed MSFS but there is no shortcut in the Win10 start menu and no shortcut on the desktop. My only option is to launch the simulator from the Microsoft Store. Could anyone please tell me the location of the executable, so that I can create shortcuts? Thank you.

Can anyone shed some light on the AIRAC data used? What will be the method of update? Will it be user amendable? I’ve been visiting a number of airports in Aus, and lots are missing approach data.

But then the inevitable problem- my Saitek Cyborg 3D doesn't map in? is that the correct phrase? In trying to adapt it the movement of the indicator on the angled line is wrong. Ailerons and rudder inputs (it has the twist grip) to the left are good but to the right are bad. The indicator goes down and then partially up again (not all the way to the beginning location). In trying to fly the C152 in the tutorial it will go left and up but doesn't respond at all to right and down inputs. If anyone could help with this I would certainly appreciate it. I know the input signals are good but the sim doesn't respond as it should. No the stick has worked fine whenever I have…

I was just told by a MS insider on the forum that VNAV doesn't work on the G1000 (not sure about other pits). Not just the autopilot, but also the vnav calculation and TOD in the flight plan. nothin. that sucks

Some already know this but I haven’t seen anything directly posted here. Just a heads up that Alex’s brilliant LittleNavMap works perfectly. This is a great and feature rich stand alone map and flight planner and much more. All you have to do to get it to work if you already have it installed is to go to the connect option and select FSX/P3D and away it goes. Tracks your plane as well as AI traffic and VATSIM/PilotEdge etc. Very useful if you have it on a seperate monitor and its FREE. https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap.html

Coming from X-Plane 11... holy word not allowed these control settings for MSFS2020 are horrible ! It was so much easier to set up the functions on X-Plane 11 for the Saitek yoke and thrust. I couldn't even set up all my buttons on the yoke as the MSFS2020 interface didn't have them but they are on the yoke. Also the lack of different input options on the yoke is horrendous compared to X-Plane 11 setup. Anyone else not able to set the red buttons in the Saitek yoke ? What I liked in X-Plane 11 was that I could set any function of the airplane into the yoke buttons, but not with MSFS2020...

I'm an old guy. Been through heaps of versions of this sim, and Combat FS, and Battle of Britain and Il2, and the original Grand Prix by Geoff Crammond and all the versions since, and Nascar and Indy Car etc etc etc.... I'm not as hardcore nonetheless as many of you. Clearly not after reading many of these threads pre and post launch 😉 I also like PC Sims as a release from real life - hobby, enjoyment etc etc. Yes they can be annoying and I see bugs or improvements or frustrations in them all. Anyone considering buying disks for premium addition - reasons not to purchase disks ? DVD player doesnt reside in my new build coming but just connect it for install and then remove easy stuff As in past I've reinstalled fresh and really dont want to go thru 3 hour download every time a reinstall is in order - thoughts ?

Hi all I'm stuck with 4k unless I replace my monitor, luckily I can run ultra on 4k just but it's not ideal. I tried to drop down to 1080p but it looks aweful, very pixelated even on maximum settings. Not sure if the Sim does a very poor job downsizing or it's the monitor, don't think it's the monitor as it looks stunning at 4k

Planning ahead for long haul flights, I mapped keys to increase/decrease sim rate. I noticed when cycling through speeds, there's nothing showing on the screen that indicates what rate you're currently on. Did I accidentally turn off a text feature when I was configuring everything?

I am really trying to like this sim. I recognise it is new and released far too early. I can make allowances. I tried the Cub on a bland flight with absolutely ZERO wind, low temperatures, no clouds, no gusts, at several different times of the day and tried it on both offered flight models and on the "legacy" model set to hard easy and everything in between. This aircraft was moving around all by itself, in zero wind and zero gusts, zero thermals, and in completely still air. I found a possible solution to install issues on the official forums... in this thread: You have to designate where the MS Store downloads apps too.
