Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

For some reason from ground level up to FL100 in New York right now I am getting the same 3 Knots from from NE direction.

Hi all I have cockpit tips turned off and I have double checked in assistance and all other settings but when I click on the autopilot for example I get that big ugly description box coming up indicating the function, how do I turn that off, it's aweful

I saw a post by ryan where he shared a droplink to a nice and very well laid out keyboard reference sheet for mfs but can't seem to find that post. Could someone please link me to it.

I'm really enjoying all the videos here and on YouTube of the various features of MSFS 2020. However, I'd like to know HOW the camera in the sim works....specifically the ZOOM feature that is quick and smooth when zooming in on the cockpit or outside scenery. It looks as though every tester is using a Track IR device! Is the ZOOM a result of using specific keys on the keyboard, on the joystick, or the mouse? I do have a Track IR, but I'd rather not use it if this terrific ZOOM is built into MSFS. Stan

I want to start MSFS as an administrator. In Windows start, there is the option to right-click on the app and start as an administrator. In P3D I can choose to always start the simulator as an administrator by right-clicking on Prepar3D.exe and in properties select Run this program as an administrator. Is there the same possibility in MSFS? and if so, where is the file? /Thomas

I have just flown my first VFR flight in C172. My experience was generally great, however I must say that I felt a liitle lost. Why? Because of the in-sim VFR map. It really sucks! This is basically the same map that is displayed on the Garmin panel and its detail-level is sooo poor. It only shows rivers and lakes, no towns, cities, even forests there. How am I supposed to navigate in real VFR? I opened Google Maps and alt-tabbed during the flight, but even then it was hard to navigate and to guess what town I'm just passing over. I hope someone will develop an addon with better maps...

Do you want an easy loading of your airplane to any of the 400 + 3D rendered cities or more than 150 000 other cities. It can be done via the UI World Map or when you are in a flight already? Then check out VFR Explorer from rksoftware.

It's like every input is turned up to 11. I can drastically reduce axis input sensitivity to make it flyable, but I haven't found a way to slow down things like zooming with a button press. I spend a lot of my time trying to get my cockpit view right. Anyone find a solution?

Hi i just got flight sim 2020 can somebody tell me why the framerate section in setting only goes to 60 fps please ?

When I try to start a flight, I only have about 40-50 airports to choose from. That is try in map view as well. Shouldn't I have like 37,000? Is there a filter I need to turn off? Thanks, Dave

Would love to see a proper plane spotting add-on for MFS. What I mean is complete with true to life ambient airport noises reflecting various airports from small GA strips to super busy international airports. Complete with realistic and unique sounds for all the different types of aircrafts, airport vehicles, wind noises, rain, ocean, birds depending where the airport is located. I've been dreaming of an addon like this since the beginning. With MFS looking so beautiful I would love to use the drone camera to just watch planes depart and land. Hello Everyone! Is it me or the flight controls seem to be VERY sensitive and jerky. Ihave the Airbus Thurstmaster and even when I try to adjust the sensibility it is still pretty bad. A tiny movement and the plane goes wild. Thanks! PS: I LOVE THIS NEW SIM 😉

Hi! I have a 60 Hz monitor and I am trying to get adaptive V-sync with 1/2 frame rate to work. It seems impossible for me to get frame rate locked to 30. I have tried every setting combo from the sim and NCP, but no luck. Works fine with P3D. Anybody managed to do this? I am monitoring FPS with MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner.

Can't seem to get TrackIR to work in the sim. Any suggestions much appreciated. I have TrackIR running it's just not working in sim. Thx.

One of my major gripes, among others, (seems petty right now with all the other issues) is the inability to set actual ceilings and visibilities for pratice instrument approaches and misses approaches. They implemented "aerosol density" instead of visibility slider. Their claim is that it is supposed to mimic "real world" settings of atmosperic conditions. Wonderful idea, in theory, except unfortunately, simmers still need the ability to input real world metars to simulate real world conditions. Has anyone setup any Manual Cache regions yet, and how have you found the interface to do this? what kind of size are we looking at for the high quality setting for any given area - for example the UK? I've just pasted England and Wales after first creating a 100GB folder - seems to have worked ok

Hey Friends, I’ve been around simming long enough to be fully aware of various tweaking placebo effects, and I’m apparently guilty of it just like the next guy 😎, but I swear whenever my sim performance tanks in flight, and I go to graphic settings and hit “reset defaults” in graphics settings, my performance appears to improves quite significantly?! Did I just create another placebo effect for myself, or is there a potential bug here? Cheers, Pete

I hear people saying the sim will get better and it will be the Flight Simulator platform for years to come ..... I hope it does and I hope it will ... The sim is Cloud based ... What do you think will happen if it doesn't generate enough money for Microsoft ? Do you think they will keep the Servers running for ' The Community' ? It's a different beast to FSX ... If Microsoft pull the plug I guess at best you would be down to the most basic of scenery. Food for thought ....

Installed the sim yesterday with the disk version when I launched it today the update screen appeared and says it needs to download over 90gb to update is that right.

Hey Av-migo's So I got a new laptop (can't get a desktop due to circumstances, don't judge!) the other week in anticipation of MSFS. The specs are pretty awesome and the new sim performs insanely good, so buttery smooth on high and ultra settings 🧈 The only issue I noticed, and it's totally new to me, is my CPU (i7-10750H) is running hot. It's averaging at 93 degrees C and even got as high as 97. My brother works in IT so I texted him to ask is that normal/acceptable and he said ideally you'd want it no higher than 80-85! Is there any setting in MSFS that relies heavily on the CPU that I can reduce to lower temperature? I just assumed most things like scene…
