Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Okay so I'm shocked. Honestly thought I'd need to update my desktop, but my trusty MBP is doing the job beautifully! (2.3GHz i9 9880H 8-core, Radeon Pro 560X 4GB, 16GB RAM) I'm posting this for those who are concerned that a lower-spec machine won't give a great return with performance and visuals. I am more than satisfied running this on medium at 1920x1080. It's silky smooth even with airliners, and I have far more autogen, reflections,clouds and lighting than I ever did with previous sims with far worse performance. Is there a way I can turn my own pilot voice off and just hear the ATC voice? I remember you can do that in FSX.

Who will have the historic honor and pride to be the first freeware allowed at the MarketPlace ? errr...or there wont be any? I hoe MS strategy is not to sabotage third party freewares keeping them to a minimum or allowing just a few foolish ones

I have flown GA for about 17 hours since launch, but yesterday I tried the a320 on a short hop from Malta over to Libya. This is a part of my Norway to Cape of Good Hope trip that some of you might have read that I'm doing. Doing it in GA mostly, but the temptation was too great, and I had to try the bus out. I find it quite appalling at the negativity that is permeating through forums and social. Its a real shame its come to this. Something we've been asking for over a decade, and we have finally gotten here with a generational leap in technology albeit in its infancy. Too many are expecting their Prepar3d or Xplane with all their addons in high fidelity and then some. How about you all reinstall that copy of FSX, or xplane, in default, and see what you get out of the box. Even the latest P3D V5. Out of the box. Zero addons. Review the default. How do you like it? Because I like referring to paper rather than digital I printed the documentation for the jet aircraft that I own for FSX. With the introduction of the new MSFS I pitched most, but I've been reluctant to toss the iFly and Majestic docs. I guess that I'm hoping that both companies will eventually release an updated version of their aircraft. I really like those two variations, but I may end up with PMDG as my only choice. Ernie

these are for me the 2 major lacking features There is literally no fog, I thought aerosol density might do it but I noticed it has nothing to do with visibility, it just changes color of sky. Cloud on bottom doesn't reduce enough visibility I always use time compression for my IFR flights, at the moment there is no way I could do long haul flights without speeding up the time. And I know they have this feature because they used it on their videos, so please just enable it for us Asobo

So, after the longest work day in history I made it home, popped in the extra 16gb of RAM and downloaded/installed MSFS2020. The download went perfect (total time 1hr 40min) with no hiccups and so did the install. I was terrified that I would have some of the issues I've been reading about all day. Sim decided that High settings were perfect for my computer. So I loaded up my local airport and took off. I had a weird bug where all the instruments quick working shortly after takeoff. Hi, Has anyone here tried the Carenado C182? I am curious to know how it stacks up against the default offering in the GA class. Have they managed to do a decent job with flight physics and the G1000? I am afraid to spend so much on their products based on history. I have bought from them in the past but regretted it as while their products are unrivalled in looks (can only imagine how well they have done with this new sim engine), they have always underwhelmed in just about about every other aspect of their simulations. Hi , I'm a bit confused about how you operate the G1000 in the Baron 58 (and probably other planes too). In the old FSX G1000 there was a knob for adjusting the altitude, and is you selected VS mode, this would, I think increase or decrease VS to head towards selected altitude. There doesn't seem to be an altitude knob on the G1000 in MSFS so how do you select altitude and VS for AP? Thanks, Paul

There is a lot of talk about how “bad” MSFS is doing…. I did not buy it on steam (as I usually do for PC sims), but some talk about bad reviews / forum discussions led me to MSFS on steam. About 3,800 mixed reviews….a live stream with over 35k views and a “community” section with screenshots, vids, and some guides on various aspects of the sim. I got a 1-month subcription to Gamepass. 2. Booting into the main menu took a while, but went smoothly also. 3. UI extremely intuitive, easy to use. Took me about 30 minutes to figure things out (if you can't figure things out, you didn't try hard enough). 4. I'm having crashes after flight planning, but I managed to load into a small German airport, EDAH Heringsdorf with the Cessna Citation CJ4. Results:

After installing 10 DVDs i go to launch sim it's telling me to download a further 90gb shawly that's not right any help.

I'm installing from DVD disks which is taking forever do I have to download updates before I can start flying.

I'm not sure if this is a broken AP issue or if I'm doing it wrong. When flying one of the prop planes, I'm able to turn on AP for altitude, but it seems to set the altitude to where my plane was at that level. But when I go and try to increase my altitude with the knobs, while the setting on the Garmin changes, the plane doesn't climb to that altitude. Is that a bug with AP or am I doing it wrong?

I hava a saitek X55. Installed the drivers and windows discoveres the device, and its available in the saitek x55 software. When I start mfs 2020 its not available in the list of controllers. I tried to connect it while the game is open but then the game crashes.
