Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

As the title states, after using the alpha, beta and now the release candidate this sim feels like the complete successor to flight where that sim should have been finished to. There are a lot of reviews focused on how the sim in performing but I am more focused on the legacy of the franchise and I don't feel that this sim lives up to the "MSFS" franchise. I firmly believe that this sim has potential and time will tell if Asobo and MS will work with the community but I don't think that this is apart of the flight sim franchise. After a day of testing, I came to the conclusion that the sim is at best in beta state when it comes to flying the included airliners. There are so many stutters / pauses at larger hubs, I don't know where to start. It doesn't have to do with settings, I lowered all of them for testing purposes. It's a hot mess at this point. Of course the included airliners were expected to be nothing to write home about to start with, but just to make that clear, the default 737 in XP11 is an order of magnitude better in all respects. Sure it has a lot of bugs right now....They will be fixed. FSX, P3D, X-plane 10, 11, etc...all had launch bugs. There are quite a few here but they will be worked out. I am enjoying this sim wayyyy too much for it to die off. I am very happy with the working aspects of it so far!!

Hi everyone, I'm loving msfs, absolutely incredible but I have an issue I haven't seen raised anywhere else as far as I can see. When I'm flying only the textures within about 500 feet of me are good quality, beyond that they quickly become very poor. I have a good broadband speed (60mb/s when tested) and a reasonable pc (flight simulator suggested high graphics setting). I have put all the settings up to ultra to see if I can improve the draw distance but nothing seems to work. Anyone else had this issue?

I'm having a problem with adding waypoints to a flight plan in the planner. I'm doing a round robin circuit from departure with arrival back to the same airport. When I add a waypoint that gets closer to the departure, it is added in the wrong sequence (as the first waypoint instead of the last). There is no way I see to adjust the sequencing manually. Am I missing something here?

I really hope it's on the backlog to provide us with the option of selecting kg in weight and fuel pages, Sim has loads of potential

Finally finished the download after waiting a day and a night to complete. (10mbs) While waiting I’ve been reading and feeling the frustration here during initial setup by some folks. My setup and first flight went rather well and I must say I’m very impressed. The main reason for my enjoyable setup and first flight was, I followed the tutorials done by Squirrel. (Awesome videos thank you Squirrel) I believe it’s a must watch for any newbie to this sim. Although not ready for tube flying, light aircraft VFR sightseeing is so enjoyable straight out of the box.

Guys, I had very few time to test MFS after this initial public release, but first time I did it looked to me like Real World Weather wasn't really syncing with what I was getting from METAR and Meteoblue charts... Well, it turned out to be my fault ! I was forgetting to actively select the option on the environment menu. If one doesn't click over it until the "v" mark appears, weather will revert to default previously selected or Clear Skies by default. Have now finished testing at 10 airports all around the World and it looks OK to me.

Not sure if its bug or i dont get it right. On the upper right side of the map of the map theres an arrow with wind speed. The speed seems to be correct but the direction arrow not. Anyone noticed it ?

I've found out I am able to perform a simple Direct To an airport (while in sim and without the flight planner pre-flight), and load an approach via PROC. I can see the data, it's all there, even fairly current RNAV(GPS) approaches are available. So we know that NAVBLUE is providing the data. Question is why can't Asobo make it work correctly? It could be very powerful such as how XP11 does it. You can even get current data. Anyway after I loaded one RNAV approach, I tried doing a DirectTo a new airport (which worked fine) but it wouldn't load and activate an approach there.... and I couldn't remove the old waypoints...argh! Isn't this the Kicker! I preordered the best version of the new flight sim and everything shows up in the MS store and visible in the library. I have tried downloading, installing or running for many hours and have gotten nowhere. At this point I just want my money back from the Microsoft Store and perhaps try my luck buying it from steam, or else walking from the hobby. Hi, I recently tried to land on water. I added waves by adding wind. However, when I land in the water (with waves), the plane doesn't exactly land "on" the waves. It lands either "inside" the waves, or a few meters above the waves (as if the waves were only a visual effect that don't affect the position of the plane). Are you experiencing the same problem? I had expected a lot of negative comments here after the release - but I am actually surprised about the massive glass half empty mentality displayed here. So this is just proof of a major problem in the social media age. Have a look at Metacritic and Steam reviews for most major games that gets released these days. Most that really are good with immense production values but with some annoying bugs on release gets surprisingly bad user reviews, accept a few that has some "cult status". After a day playing around with settings (a couple hours' worth of actual sim time) I've discovered something about the stuttering that's occurring for people, regardless of their specs. I want to make clear that this is just MY experience, and I'm not knowledgeable enough about the way the sim or the CPU and GPU work to suggest how applicable this might be, in general. I've noticed a rash of CTD and silent crashes when I am using it. Really frustrating. Logged a bunch of bugs on their ZenDesk website (go to the MSFS 2020 site and log yours as well) about my issues. Anyone else using this and having the same issues? Try not running the TrackIR app and see if it stabalizes. Hope this helps. -Lutra

I see so much negativity from many over MSFS. I must say I don't understand it. I am amazed and super excited. So far I enjoy it immensely and I can't wait to get even better when 3rd party start selling their addons. The default planes, default scenery, default weather, default lighting is nothing like any other sim default. Someone reading this forum may get the impression that MSFS is so bad. comment: wow, the sim loads up WAY faster than I thought it would. For real. Loading up cold and dark on ultra settings in Auckland, NZ takes just over 30 seconds. I had read horror stories on how it takes some people 5 minutes to start up the sim. I honestly believe it has to do with your true internet download speed. Some people may think they have fast internet but a lot of times they don't actually test speeds/or know what "fast" really is. I have a consistent 220mpbs connection that I test regularly (and restarting router regularly helps). I think that is the magic trick to load up fast. A 20mbps connection is very slow these days so that may be the bottleneck. …
