Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I thought I would take the plunge and at least download the software, here late at night. However, the download app (via the XBox store) keeps on asking about a "device". I am loath to give Microsoft access to anything on my system, let alone a device. Did I use the wrong download portal? Thanks!

On the main header bar, just right of centre, is a button featuring two heads. What does it do? It is permanently greyed out for me.

next update coming soon, they promised us particle effects (water, contrail etc.) i hope they fix the weather too

Hey there guys, hope you are having a blast with 2020, like i do. There´s one issue i have with the longitude. I can´t seem to get the fms to work correctly. I load an ifr-FP, switch the source to fms, switch on nav, vnav and the fd but after takoff (also i have no clue how A/T works, if i arm it, it already pushes the throttles forward without TO/GA being pshed and retracts them immediately on rotation) the FD commands level flight. any ideas or is there some basic manual available? thanks all, and have fun! regards, Manuel

Hello All It has been a long time, went to the dark side (xp11) for awhile. Became an alpha tester, fell in love with msfs2020. Bought the Deluxe Package as soon as it became available. Went to the MS Store this morning, I already changed the new app setting in storage, it asked what drive to install it on, selected x (has 625GB available, downloads just fine. Click on the play link, error c:\program files etc. It is not installed there, none of the alphas have been installed there either (it is too small a partition, just a boot m.2). Are radio/TV transmission towers not in the database? I just did a short night VFR local flight over an area which should have had a tower with a flashing light. I did not find it. Towers can be significant hazards as well as landmarks for flight. These structures appear on VFR section maps. I will be a little disappointed If they are not included at some point.

Uhhh ... did I download a different "game" than a lot of other people on here? I have a modest ageing rig (4970K, GTX970, 32GB) that was a stutterfest in P3D and Orbx regions with too many of the sliders anywhere near the right. Yet here I am running MSFS at 1920 x 1080 using the high-end option, plus terrain detail cranked up several notches. Don't care what the FPS are (40+ for the most part) but smooth enough to swivel my head around with Track-IR and enjoy the scenery. Hi all. i have noticed, that in graphic settings you can choose between windowed and borderless window. i have a gsync monitor, that only works in fullscreen. i can easily tell if something is not fullscreen, because then the build-in FPS counter won’t work. This could also lead to problems with v-sync. If anyone have a solution, I would be more than happy.

Pre ordered MSFS Premium Deluxe and, on Tuesday, downloaded/installed 96.1 GB. This appears to be only the basic version - 20 Aircraft only. I asked yesterday and was assured that this was the correct download size for my version. I redownloaded, same result. In the MS Store, I can see that I have ordered the correct version, but all I can do is "Manage" the Premium addon. Read and checked the zendesk article concerning missing "upgrades", all aspects on my PC are correct and all upgrades completed!! The game does not recognize the flaps unless I opt for full extension or full retraction. When I choose the gradual extension and retraction,it does not recognizes the input. Any ideas?

Hallo all, since the installation of FS2020 (premium deluxe edition via Windows Store) I have strange BSODs with my rig which never happened before. They always have two different reasons: NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED I tried to repair windows system files as per sugesstion in several posts and it seemed to help just until now as I had the next BSOD out of nowhere. Question: has anyone experienced the same problems? I'll also file a bug report in their zendesk, maybe I'll get a hint from there. As I understand it I should be able to hold the right mouse button down and be able to pan around the cockpit and external views. I'm not able to do that and not sure if it's my gaming mouse (UtechSmart Venus Pro) or if I have to bind the mouse to a particular function. If so does anyone have any idea what to bind it to, I've tried everything and can't get it to work. Thanks

Hi everyone, does anybody know if the key provided for the Premium Deluxe Edition which according to the documentation is for downloading the actual premium deluxe content, also allows me to download the complete flight simulator? The issue here is that installation aborts shortly after starting with DVD #5. I don't mind the download, I bought the boxed copy for the physical presence. However the seller is playing dumb, not wanting to provide a functional copy or a refund, and Microsoft isn't answering this question (their support is probably overwhelmed right now). I thought I'd share my experience with tweaking my laptop to run FS2020 with reasonable performance. I have had this laptop for 2 years now and it's handled everything really well, but FS2020 is pushing it to its limits. Initial performance was really poor, with frame rates around 15-23fps @ EGBB Birmingham, with graphics set on Medium, AI Traffic dialed down to 10%, and clear skies. CPU was thermally throttling, so frame rates were all over the place. So, after a fairly extensive play around over the last couple of days, it is clear there is massive potential but also some issues, from minor to downright annoying. Flight models - I have extensive experience of multiple aircraft types in the real world and on high fidelity research simulators, my initial thoughts on the flight modelling in 2020 are that the models feel fairly good, I had some issues initially which were down to my mis-understanding the control mapping somewhat, once I'd sorted that, everything is good. Hi Everyone Like many of us I too am having my share of the difficulies. Can somebody please help how to extend flaps. On pressing F1 once-the lever jumps position 1 and falls back to original position. On pressing and holding F8-the lever goes to maximum but drops back to 0 flaps on releasing the key. Not sure how everyone else feels but for me the release has been little disappointing. Scenery etc is better than p3dv5 but the basics are little off. I look forward to your help. Many thanks Qas

After many CTDs and Windows Update, Nvidia driver update it might be that now the sim is more stable. It seems that the most of the CTDs were caused by the fact that I had no pagefile set in Windows. Really MS? In 2020 when I have 32GB of DDR? (it was set to no pagefile due to CTDs in the past of some scenery in P3D). Also on my 4K monitor it seems that I need Anti-aliasing on TAA, if is not like this it does not look ok on my 4K, any idea why? Normally on 4K should be fine without the need to use Anti-aliasing TAA or other options for it.
