Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

It took me quite a while to get my hat switch working for cockpit and external view but now I just took off at KORS (ORBX) to KTIW (ORBX). What a wonderful flight so far. Absolutely stunning graphics. Now I will see how the Seattle area performs.

This sim is amazing in terms of graphics, but has anyone already found out how to change the units to metric-hybrid? (So weight in kgs and altitude in ft like it's used in most of europe?)

First a brief(ish) back story. When I was freshman in HS my parents got a Gateway 2000 PC. One of the first software titles I begged them for was FS 4.0. I had been using the Sublogic FS on the Commodore 64 for a few years prior but FS 4.0 was the latest and greatest. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out of the box. I had no idea what graphics cards and device drivers were back then but I was determined to get FS 4.0 working. After several days of Gateway tech support and reading books of computer documentation it was working, albeit poorly. Fast forward to today and I’ve owned every copy of MS FS since. Hello folks, Apart from using xbox controller to move the camera drone, what would be an alternative assignment to that? For example, if I can control it like X Plane free camera `c`, would be super awesome.Is there a suggestion on how to do this?

Just wondering, when I load to fly, how come the camera doesn't show the airport, but instead it jump straight into the cockpit?

I cant play in fullscreen and get a good resolution other than 3440x1440 on my screen. I can if I go windowed mode, but I get the awful windows borders then. Can you please make a borderless windowmode please?

Hi, have a quick question - is there any way to assign (Saitek yoke) hat switch to smoothly look around inside cockpit? I mean something like in EZDOK camera. It's hard to look around inside cockpit using default MSFS right mouse button when I need my right hand to operate throttle levers etc. Hope we don't need any 3rd-party addons to solve this 😉 Cheers!

Hi all, Today I installed MSFS2020 De Luxe and at the first attempt of doing so the simulator did run well. After I ended the session I wanted to start MSFS2020 up again, but I only got to the splash screen and the simulator kept hanging in it and froze. I attempted to start over several times, but no success. I then uninstalled the app and tried to reinstall it. It wouldn't even let me download MSFS2020 again, here, too, it kept hanging in the splash screen. I had a chat with Microsoft but they weren't at the moment able to resolve the problem for me. Have any of you had the same experience and found a resolution for it? Thanks, Hans van Wijhe

Manual Cache gives you precise control of the area and level of detail that you can download. I was originally using Rolling Cache but have switched to Manual Cache as it gives you greater control and flexibility! Great for those of you who frequent certain places. Although not sure what the difference between the low, medium and high option is exactly.

With HT disabled- my I7-6700k Skylake CPU will run at 90-100% maxed out usage most of the time. With HT enabled- it runs 40-60% usage. MSFS responds very well to Hyper Threading.

For you X-Plane guys like me there are options in the Keyboard Control menu to set custom views: Save Custom View and Load Custom View. I set Save Custom View 0 to R-Ctrl + Num 0, Save Custom View 1 to R-Ctrl + 1, etc. I then set Load Custom View to Num 0 and Load Custom View to Num 1, etc. through Num 9. Don't forget to delete the existing numpad assignments for control surfaces. Then you can set and control views similar to X-Plane.

Hi all, New to this community but a FS-lover since 2000. I was wondering does any of you know if FS Passengers will be released for the new MSFS? Really added to the experience in FS2004, FSX!

Just to get the scale of this.... has anyone seen any #'s from Microsoft on total downloads the past 24 hours? We would probably be astonished at how complex releasing this franchise is! BTW... Really enjoying the Simulator!

I prepaid for MSFS and attempted to install the program. It asked where I wanted the install I indicated Disk "D" it installed 1 GB of files on "C" drive and 3 files on "D" drive and stopped downloading. Now it says to buy again, on the same page it indicates that I own a copy. Who can I turn to? MS help gives me a virtual agent that does not have a clue.

i will not speak about the inop buttons because its the original plane....but no one is speaking about the missing of GPWS Ground Proximity Warning System .its realy nice and give realism to hearing pull up to low terrain...and from the moment we have a real time traffic A TCAS warning about traffic will be great!!.....small things can make the difference but everybody watching only how graphics are good.sry for my English

Hello! Is there any way to force game to not start my planes autmatically? I really would like to use in-game checklist and try to start engines by my own, but I can not find option for that. When I start game, my planes are always 100% ready to start.

It's clear from SDK and ingame dev mode, you can't have proper biplane. As you can see there is only one wing. I believe there can only be one vstab too.

I am not enjoying this user interface. I cannot get my X55 controllers working. They show up in the menu but I cannot assign any buttons and when I load a flight the axis don't respond! I am not having fun.....

Hello all and first of all sorry for my poor English I have a great problem with MFS2020. Installation was ok but the "game" always reboots my computer. I only had one time the menus and entered the game but even here, my computer rebooted. Impossible to do something. The MFS forum is unaivalable for the moment. I am tying to create a custom waypoint using long/lat but I do not think Microsoft simulated this. Is there a way for the Microsoft team to address this? The software is beginning to seem incomplete and please do not suggest this is acceptable simply because it's not "real life". If there is something they can fix to make the software more realistic then they should.

If anyone has found a way to disable the cockpit tooltips I'd thankful for any advice. Or have I simply overseen it in the settings?? Thanks Marc

So far my experience has been disappointing... - When launching the sim, typically nothing happens or launches some black screen and crashes back to desktop... Launching a second time and it "starts" (see below) - Got it to start once, and crashed my PC while taxiing... - Recently starting, getting to some screens or loading screens and either crashes to desktop or blue screen... Not really sure what to make of this. My PC is not the *latest* but should be up for it (and speaking of that, why did it "suggest" only *medium* for settings??? Specs: i7 4790K 4.4Ghz / 32GB RAM / Asus Strix GTX 1080Ti (11GB)

newbie supposed to do? New kid wants to fly the C172. When it only has a G1000? You gotta be kidding me. And, there is NO manual included with the download version for anything. And even though the new kid might be able to figure something out some of the instruments, I doubt if he/she could ever trim it for straight and level flight. The control response just sucks - that's the only way I can put it (and, yes, I have 300+ hours in the real thing).This is a really pathetic effort by MS. The more I look at this sim the less enchanted I become. Seems to be less about flight simulation than it is about eye-candy. But, I'll eventually get over it. End of rant................…

Has anyone noticed yet? All I shall say for now is: take a look at the turn and slip indicator in the Robin!
