Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I decided to learn to fly on a single engine airplane which is you'll tell me that it is the basis of aviation. I have never been interested in small planes but above all for big planes Xd. So i worked hard to know and understand how a B737NG works from A to Z. But there, i decided to want to learn the basics that all pilots start before becoming an airline pilot for example. I know all the instruments, which is essential, but what disturbs me is for the navigation flight, to prepare your flight plan with NavLog. I have absolutely no idea how to do it. I took the training in the game, but i understand nothing. I'm not talking about the G1000 but the basic cockpit.

My 172 analog panel is no longer unusable. I haven't tweaked any files, it just appeared this way after returning from exterior view.

Hi, I got the sim working since the beginning, no install issues, but now, after 10 days, the sim just stays stuck at the press any key screen in the beginning. I have not done anything on my PC other than playing the sim so I am a bit baffled why now all of a sudden it gets stuck in this loop. Anybody else experienced this?

I am presently downloading some local scenery with Manual Cache (estimated time 2hrs 20mins). If I pause the download process is it safe to do some flying and then return to continue the download? Has anyone tried this. Also before one hits the download button is there anyway of finding out what the size of downloaded file will be? Seems strange this facility is not somewhere.

Hi all, my sim is crashing when trying to load a flight. I purchased on Steam, and have a beefy PC that has never had any issues with any game. I just tried hopping in training to see if it would work, and the game crashes when the load bar is at about 75%. I have even turned down settings to potato quality and taken off full screen, but nothing works. Wondered if anyone else had this issue and/or a fix?

With a next generation flight sim, I was expecting next generation features, which for the most part has happend, except for a couple of big things: The road traffic looks to be the same as it did in fs9 and fsx. But most of all, ai traffic and atc has not improved since the days of fs9 (17 years ago!)… poor ground handling, no separation on landing resulting in go arounds, atc vectoring the user into high terrain, etc. I think its too bad that this aspect of the game wasn't even touched during development at all. the only difference i've seen is a slightly different ATC UI, more generic sounding voices, and a few added functions such as requesting fuel.

Hey aviators, I've got a CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals that I need to use with MSFS 2020. The three controllers show up in Windows Device Manager under 'CH Products', so that tells me that Windows acknowledges their existence. The controllers don't, however, show up in MSFS 2020. When I say they don't show up, I mean that the only devices available for me to assign stuff to on the 'Controls' tab are my mouse, my keyboard, and a 'touch pointer' (which is a drawing tablet I use for art.) Can anyone tell me what's going on here, and how I can get MSFS to acknowledge my controllers so I can start assigning functions to them?

Hello, I feel pretty dumb right now, but I am totally new with Flight Simulators, So I am going through the Training, and made it to training 3, and ready to drive up the runway. But how do I move lol... I even set to full throttle, press 0 or Enter do the pedal goes down, but I am not moving an inch. It's probably something stupid, but the lesson doesn't tell me how to move. Unless I missed something several times. Thank you :)

Hi Can anyone assist in the throttle settings for FS2020. I am unable to find a setting that will give me smooth 0-100% throttle response. I have played around with the sensitivity and Null zones to no avail. No problems with SP-11 or FSX but not having smooth control over the throttle spoils the whole experience. I am using a Ravcore Javelin stick with a single throttle slider. I have tried assigning 1,2,3 or 4 throttle axis, but unable to obtain any intermediate settings. (via the setting ALL) Thanks for any pointers. Regards Paul

Hi Everyone, Would anyone be able to tell me if there is a way to reload an aircraft inside the sim after editing/tweaking a cfg file? At the moment I am re-starting the sim every time I want to see the changes that I have made, but I'm sure there must be a quicker, smarter way to do this? Thanks, Dave

Sorry, if I describe my problems unprofessionally- I just had 5 VFR lessons on real c152, and used a2a c172 in FSX)) 1- GNS 430 and 530 in delux version on c172 classic- do they work properly or there is a bug? I used to GNS400 in c172 a2a, and it was so easy... Here I trying to activate direct waypoint to desired airport- and nothing happens. Load or activate approach- nothing happens..vectors to filal- nothing...I downloaded trainer for GNS 430 and 530 from Garmin website, and can do everything on this trainer without mistakes, but same sequences not working at all in MSFS....Can someone confirm? 2. How to delete entries from logbook? …

Anyone else noticing that real-time traffic isn't working? So I've got the setting enabled at Heathrow which according to FlightRadar24 is quite busy at the moment with multiple aircraft on the ground and in the air. All I'm seeing is one aircraft and according to FlightRadar it's not even a real one! There are lots of stock aircraft at gates, but they're just for display. I've tried it multiple times but am still seeing nothing. Is anyone else having this problem?

For those of you who have FS2020 working smoothly and feel that there's something missing, what is it? I was one of the unfortunate ones who could not get decent performance with my i7 2600K, Titan Pascal, 32GIGS of RAM, SSD, and 1080P monitor. Does FS2020 has what was missing on all previous sims, or just another platform that needs a lot of work and 3rd party support? Jose

There is a post in the tips and tricks forum about hardware accelerated GPU scheduling. I have Windows 10 update 2004 installed and checked but i dont see this setting when i follow the instructions on the forum post. My system has a i7 10700k and a Nvidia 2080ti. Would this setting change make any difference to my system anyway? Cheers Stinger

I’m anxiously awaiting a decent 737 with lots of liveries, a CRJ or Embraer for feeder routes, a DHC-2 Beaver and an Air Force lifter, maybe a C-130 or c-17.

Has anyone figured out how to essentially inject flight plans into the sim yet? Perhaps this is easy to do, but I'm flying mainly in the King Air (and despite its oddities, I'm really enjoying it) and trying to edit the flight plan is a bear. For starters, even before I get in the plane, it doesn't SEEM like I can just copy a flight plan from say, Sim Brief (or other tool) and paste it into the World setup screen (am I missing something as this seems obvious). Once in the plane the interface of the plane's pseudo-G1000 touch screens are not very clear. I would definitely need a comprehensive youtube video on just how to create and edit a flight plan there. Hi All In the good old days of FSX I used to use Plan G to plan my flights; but now MSFS has been released I'd like to take my VFR flight planning to the next level. I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos from real pilots and they are using an Ipad/Tablet app to navigate and find flight data whilst flying. E.g. airport plates, frequencies etc. My most recent flight was fantastic where I flew up the west coast of the US. I arrived at my planned landing point to discover it was covered in low level fog!! What I needed to do was plan for an alternate field, check the weather prior to departure, and have the abilty to find data 'on flight'. Do any of y…

a tip from me, disable crashes in the menu, this only turns off the dark screen with the message how you crashed. With disable crash you can still crash and you can see the result, e.g. if you roll over. The first time i hit a house I got quite scared how i whirled through the air and then hit the ground 😅

Does anyone have any issues with the Bush Challenges? I'm trying the South America one and seem to get locked at 15fps. I don't usually drop that low anywhere else for more than a few seconds. The thing is also, if I then try a regular flight after that it remains at 15fps until i restart the sim all together. Strange

Have a look at VFRMAP if you are flying VFR and the FS map window is just not enough to find your way around. You can find it here: https://github.com/lian/msfs2020-go/releases This small utility connects your browser to FS and projects the position of your aircraft onto Google maps 🙂 . Installation is a breeze (just one small exe to be unzipped), and you can of course run your browser windowed within your FS cockpit. Cockpit commands require FS to have the focus, so you may have to switch the focus between both programs according to your needs.
