Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Hey guys, is there a way to set the default view of the outside plane when you start a flight. When I start a flight the default view is outside showing the tail of the plane but I would like to see the plane from the side and centered. I know there are settings for cockpit but doesn’t seem like one for outside chase view. Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to MS and the team for FS2020. I am well old now, and not in very good health due to various things that happened in my history. I am mid 60's, but look and feel as if I am early 80's. Back in my 20's I got my PPL on P28's being trained at Fairoaks airport in the UK. I enjoyed my flying very much but after my problems in the 80's I had to surrender my licence. I have always been into computers and my first flight sim ( that was useable) was on the Amiga and I progressed through all subsequent ones until I was flying FSX. I've never been able to afford the latest and greatest computer so my time hs always been chasing the best …

Edlc82002 14h OK everyone. I was talking with Meteoblue just before, and they were quite shocked to hear about this! I pretty much gave them the lowdown on what we are experiencing and he actually looked into their system and saw that Asobo has acknowledged a Live Weather bug on their end. Basically MB is sending the data, and Asobo is receiving it, and as far as they can tell, Asobo’s data guys see the weather data being sent out via the game client. (Which it is, we see it works in Europe). So the fact its not working everywhere implies the bug is from within the sim itself, which would likely require a patch. MB does seemed committed to making this work…

Like the title says, when flying the a320 neo, the only VOR indication is the frequency appearing on the ND. No distance or compas. Anyone else with the same problem?

I bought MSFS2020 through MS-Store using an Amazon voucher - installation was traumatic (very little guidance, and several download options without any clues as to which to download). After lots of attempts, I almost got the game to run, but "press any key to continue" didn't do anything. Next time I tried to run I eventually got to a cockpit and a training session, but some things just wouldn't respond. In the end, I gave up, got a refund from Amazon. I love flight simulators (have had X-Plane for a long time) and was keen to have this but for the time being I need to give up and reclaim my HD space and my time. I'm having an issue with the pilot profile and flight log missing, it just stays as a grey box. I have not found on google this issue at all by others, so is it just me?

I installed the SDK and had a quick browse of the menus available in it, making no changes other than loading the DA62 in-game. After quitting and restarting FS2020, the program now hangs indefinitely at the 'checking for updates' screen. The only change I've made is installing the SDK and installing Aerosoft's freeware Paderborn airport. Any ideas what I can do to get the game running again?

For people like myself who have been looking for a way to adjust the sim rate, it is possible, but there's a tiny twist many people overlook. When you go to assign keys, you must search for "sim rate." But the default is to search only assigned keys, you must change that to search all.

Currently, when you pause TrackIR (via joystick button assigned to "Pause" action in TrackIR software), the view stays as it was for ca. 6 seconds, the snaps back to the default view. It's annoying if you paused TrackIR when looking at particular instrument to change settings. The workaround (inspired by the other users of this forum): SETUP: I. Assign a button (let's call it "A-button") to pause action in TrackIR software. II. Assign to the same ("A-button") in the sim - "Save custom view 0" command (it can be any number 0-9). III. Just came across a problem I hadn’t experienced before. Im flying the G1000 on the 172, put the aircraft autopilot in GPS Navmode, and hit the HDG knob to sync the heading bug on the HSI with my present heading. But the heading bug is syncing to my reciprocal heading instead, and no matter what I do (deselect navmode, select heading mode, disengage autopilot) it continues to want to sync to a heading 180 degrees from my present heading. Was going to report to Zendesk, but wanted to suss whether anybody else had experienced the issue as well?

I know MS fixed the issues with Steam, but there seems to be a bug with the Premium Deluxe version purchased through the MS Store, and I haven't seen any posts about it. I purchased & installed the game fine on 8/18 and had all the planes & airports included in it. Yesterday I decided to refresh my computer and formatted and reinstalled the Premium Deluxe version I purchased, but now I don't have access the the premium stuff. I live in Bay Area and made several flights around the South Bay. What I notice is that most of small houses or buildings tend to be flat like an image, not a 3D formed building. Even Apple Center is just a circle not a building. Can anyone help confirm if that’s the case? I have most of my settings to ultra and a fast connection. I have no FPS issues. Just wondering if my sett8ng is wrong to cause that. I have the rolling cache to 50g and manual cache to 50g.

I just had yet another "I can't believe what I just experienced" moments in this sim. If you have not done so yet, just set the weather to Overcast, and I suggest the TBM to get the added joy of not only breaking out on top, but watch as the ice boots do their job! I was awe-struck. Ok so being an veteran FSX user the first thing i did before even taking off on my first flight was plan the flight right? Couldn't find any vor information in the game so i looked it up then went to set nav1 but lordy lordy i cannot figure out how to set that radio... I can turn nav1 on but in none of the planes i have tried so far have i found where i can set that freq... I did finally figure out how to set the crs but man do i miss the pop up radio stacks... Little help? Looking good. [Edit] After closer examination I have to say my favourite part is definitely the PBR materials, in particular the apron surfaces. It just looks right.

While it really is fun to roam the world with this sim I'm not sure how many years it will take to repair all the small things that are broken. Made a VFR trip from EGPN to EGNM with the C172 G1000, nice plane, AP, HDG, VS, NAV, APR modes working, performance seems to be OK. But ... At EGPN most of the ramp positions are located inside the airport building and then you're stuck because the walls are solid. Finally found a ramp outside the building. Also at EGPN: ground crew walking around 20 meters above ground. The weather is loading only once at the beginning of the flight. Does MSFS not effectively using my HW resources? I've just made my first flight with the B787 from EDDF to EGLL. Frame rates were mediocre to say the best. During flight I had around 25-27 fps and on RW 27R landing approach it went down to 18-20. Graphic settings were high and partially ultra (SSAA 4x). CPU @ 4.6 (16 cores HT), GPU 2080Ti for a 3440x1440 monitor. CPU core usage was more or less evenly distributed but not more than 40%. GPU not much better with a usage of 40-50%. Temperatures were all fine. So my simple question, why does MSFS not use more of my HW resources when I have so much headroom?

I’ve been experiencing an irritating issue with Track ir in MSFS 2020. When I pause track ir, after a few seconds it will reset to the default forward facing view. I’ve looked in all the settings and can’t for the life of me figure out how to stop this. If I want to focus on something outside or in the cockpit and I pause that view it just snaps right back to the upfront view. Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
