Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

For me, the entire sim seems overly bright! In cockpit mode especially, when looking out the windows, everything seems "washed out". The colors do not appear realistic to me when I'm in the air. Is there a way to change the brightness overall in the sim? I haven't read about this anywhere else. Stan

Of course it's too early to draw any real conclusions, but given the massive amount of investment in this piece of software (with much more development resources than MS' previous efforts according to PMDG's consultation with them), and the on-going maintenance required to ensure compability of streaming bing data (as well as impossibility to store all offline with current PC HDD limits), is anyone worried that the bubble may burst in a couple of years when MSFS does not take off with a mass market^ as they are projecting? What must I do to stop seeing "Airspeed Above -1.0 Knots" and "Incorrect Altimeter Setting" I press B and nothing seems to happen.

Is it just me or anybody else experiencing transponder issues when asked by ATC to squawk? Now ATC terminates service since i cannot verify squawk lol.. PICTURE

I recently got a new laptop and had downloaded MSFS2020. Suffered a severe crash which required reloading iOS. How do I reinstall MSFS?

Good morning, As the title says...For me the TBM is the only plane which gives constant stuttering. I have tested all other GA's and they run smooth. The TBM stutters are all over the place even withoug any flightplan loaded. Am i missing something here? The was a post about tweaking the refresh rate of the Panel screens but that does'nt seem to apply to the TBMs. While the DA62 for example is refreshing at 30 FPS now, the TBM still runs 60FPS. Maybe it has its own file to be edited? Best regards, Tom

Just had the nav screen in the Icon freeze completely. Still showed waypoints but screen would not respond to any mouse input at all, Finished flight from Orlando to Miami VFR in the blind. Then I asked for IFR vectors to get bearings to follow. The ATC directed me to climb from 4000 to 10,000? [In the icon?] Then granted requests for lower cruising to get back to 4000? Like FS2020, but this was not a good flight, [

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I have very nice performance with pretty much zero stutters with the GA birds. High-ish settings on a high-ish system. Even simconnect doesn't seem to create stutters. But I am finding that if I run at a higher sim rate for say 20 minutes, I return to standard time with frequent/significant stutters. I just tried to replicate the problem with an exact same flight, at normal rate, and the issue doesn't arise. Might there be a "buffering" issue, so to speak, with higher sim rates? Just wondering. I do of course have an immediate fix: stay at 1/1 rates!

God I hate the design tools with a vengeance. Can you be any less intuitive? You as the user have to tell the inspector to save the files in the right folders so that they compile correctly and then show up in the sim afterwards? How about programming a tool that does that on its own? I did it right only once, and now I have wasted two hours trying to figure out what I did different to my latest approaches of adding a scenery of custom POI's to my city. They show up in the editor, I copied over the package as before, but nothing shows up in the sim this time.

I'm real world pilot, when flying in the sim around my home airfield (EPWS) if discovered strange height perception when on approach. I was way too low over the surronding terrain, buzzing over homes. Then I realised, that the airfield (unlike the real world in which the field surroundins are flat) is located in ca. 200-300 feet deep valley. Probably issue with mesh vs. airport refernce height. By the way - no parking spots at EPWS, so isssue with starting cold & dark (you can choose only the runway as the staritng point). I am trying to install the liveries from https://www.msfsaddons.org/liveries/liveries-megapack-v4/. When I follow the directions, and get to the last folder where I see the folders "Official" and "Community", the Official is above the community folder and the community folder is empty. I tried to drop the liveries in the community folder and when I loaded the sim, I couldn't get passed the "press any key" page. Every time I would press a key, it would go blank, then return to that page. Did I do something wrong with the install? I had to do a reinstall of the sim and that takes forever! I am particularly interested in the A320. Thanks!

I am getting my sim running the way I like. It is great to have the uninterrupted view (not airplane and no panel) straight ahead. And it is cool the way you can place the glass displays on a second monitor as well as all the settings. The 3 top monitors are using NVIDIA Surround, and it is not bad if you don't zoom out much. This is a screen setup that makes landings and VFR flying a joy. I have been mapping my custom switches/rotary encoders and pots using Bodnar Bords as well as lots of peripherals yokes and joysticks throttle quads etc. I feel it is all coming together very well. I'd like to request that if anyone has a graphics complaint, they should really include screenshots instead of 10,000 words trying to explain it. I read many issues that I simply am not seeing and its impossible to help without seeing it. I think Win 10 game mode has a screenshot key but if you've turned it off you can use the Windows key plus PrntScrn and then look in Pictures>screenshots.

Just downloaded the Caronado C172 from Marketplace and can't seem to find the plane in my list. Do I need to install it somewhere?

The A320 can do an ILS cat3 auto land. I thought this an interesting video. The second video is a comparison between the MFS- and the X-plane / Flight Factor A320 take off and climb to 5000 feet.

I am new to flight sim but am enjoying learning things. I watched a YouTube video of a real airbus pilot taxing and takeoff and using headings and auto pilot to have a much smoother flight than holding the controls and using trim. What I'm wanting to learn is how to use the rest of it. How do I input a flight plan without the main menu? How do I find the airport frquency (I cam find the airport with headings but not frequencies). Ultimately I think a guide on different systems and how to use them is what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated- thanks.

So I just got the thrustmaster rudder pedals for flight sim 2020. I plugged them in and everything is connecting to the computer properly. I loaded up the game and it recognizes the pedals with all the correct controls. When I load into a flight and try to use the pedals they do not work nothing happens inside the cockpit or outside on the tail of the plane. Has anyone had this issue or may know what the cause of it is. Look forward to getting some help. Thanks, Justin

Hi again, This might not be the place to ask, but it's using the G1000 of the Bonanza G36.in FS2020 Don't know if I am doing something wrong or not with the FLC and VS key on a climb. If I turn on and use the FLC, it works fine but the vertical speed is in the thousands If I use the VS then the FLC seems to turn off and vice versa. Am I supposed to be able to use both at the same time. Ron

Well.. I just landed at Dodge City Regional in MFS 2020. Diamond 40-NG. IFR from the east.. about 130 miles or so. I didnt keep track of time but it took a while.. most of the trip was at about 110 indicated. Enroute I flew at about 10k feet . The view between the cloud layers was awesome. I had to dodge an ugly cloud (red on the nexrad) about half way there . I flew VOR to VOR (radio nav) . for the approach I chose the ils rw14 dme arc from EARPP . I used the Autopilot via heading mode and DME off the DDC vor for the ARC.
