Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I want to apologize for my somewhat spiteful post about the next beta version. I was venting my frustration a bit in regards to all the problems I'm reading about daily with the new sim. Although I predicted that there would be bugs and unresolved issues, hence my calling it a Beta version, I honestly didn't think it would be this bad. I've also counseled patience and expressed my optimistic view that the issues will get resolved in due time. However, the sheer number and nature of problems reported here compelled me to take a more negative stance. There is no manual or documentation provided with MSFS, probably because it is useless. But I can't understand what the "basic controls" command is for? It can be activated with Ctrl-C or through the toolbar. On my system, it just shows a nice image of my device controls (Thrustmaster T. 1600 joystick ans Saitek throttle quadrant), nothing more. I've yet to see any smaller regional or commuter AI Aircraft... Are they in this sim at certain airports or are they going to be added later or are we going to need an AI Add-on for this traffic?

Does anyone else have trees growing on the bridges and ships like the Queen Mary. Trees around Disneyland sort of look like blobs also. I have the data set to on.

When I load a flight that I have saved before I cannot change the weather. The weather icon isn't there. I'm not online and not flying in a group. Any idea? Thx, Karl

There has been a lot of talk here about the flight dynamics, and specifically reducing control sensitivity to make this more realistic. I’ve been thinking about this out this for a few hours and can’t agree with the concept for a number of reasons. I’ll try and keep the hyperbole to a minimum, as emotions are currently running higher than normal, but if you do think I’m exaggerating for dramatic effect, please understand that is not my intent. And I don’t mean that in a good way. Not to be a curmudgeon, this sim has impressed me in a lot of ways but flying in mountainous areas has a very cheap feeling, like the old photoreal scenery add-ons for FSX. Yes, when flying directly over the terrain it’s great and the mesh quality is impeccable but looking from a bit out...cheap. It has that blueish quality, and that sorta “je ne sais quoi” that gives the feeling of flying in google earth’s simulator. Prepar3d simulates distant mountains much better, and if you have good mesh, it’s really good. I hope this can be fixed someday.

Can anyone explain an issue that I'm having with the Longitude autothrottle, where it doesn't disconnect? I'll be flying along, then when I need to shut it off to land, it doesn't respond to being clicked on. The last flight I made I had to shut the engines off in order to touch down.

The Cessna 172 standard is not in the aircraft menu anymore how to recover it I have the Premium Deluxe PC edition I use to fly this aircraft many time everything was ok. Then when a stated a new session the next day it wasn’t in the menu. Where to find the aircraft files on my disk ? the simulator is installed on a disk alone. To reinstall the program do I have to download the complete program (195gib) ? Can we make a repair of FS2020 without having to reinstall and do we lose all the control and camera configuration Help will be very much appreciated

Guys, could somebody savvy in arithmetics come up with a conversin utility from Google maps coordinates to MFS2020 flt and pln formats? There are too many places I'd like to fly over in MFS2020, but editing the files every time is just too much and those word not allowed minutes and seconds are soo tiny that it hurts my eyes. I downloaded the Missouri river fix from msaddons and it states to simply extract the file into the community folder which I have done but I still have the elevation issue with the river. Does anyone who installed it and have it working know if there is something else that needs to be done? My version is from MS store thanks, Dave

Simple question, is deluxe worth the price? I know you get a few extra planes and custom airports, but is that the only improvement over the standard version? TIA

is there any way to increase the distance that trees are drawn around the aircraft?Watching trees pop up around Palm Springs gets distracting. None of the in game sliders seem to affect this.

Anyone else getting a long stop after changing the time of the day during a flight ? I change the time I see it changing live and then I close the weather window and after about 3 seconds it freezing for like 30 seconds (i guess to load changes).

Hi guys, hope all is well to everyone. just curious, I've always been a Boeing word not allowed in all simulators flying the 737/777. Trying out the airbus for once and i'm actually enjoying it, super easy to fly ( watched hours of tutorials on you tube). My problem is every time i'm on final just before touchdown the A/C seems to bank left for no reason, and makes the whole landing an air crash investigation unfortunately. I'm pretty sure I've done the landing config correctly, but please do correct me if you feel there is a switch or button i have to press. Many thanks.

Flying an approach into middle of Sweden, I noticed the local town looked pretty off: Why does this happen? My internet is fine with a dl speed of 10mb/s.

Did a short 10 mile flight from Panshanger (a small grass strip near Welwyn Garden City) to Luton airport which is about 5 miles from where I live. I set it to live weather and Live traffic. I've seen mention of the live weather not working but I have to say it was pretty much spot on during this flight, clouds and winds exactly as they seemed outside. Yesterday I did a flight over London and it was not showing the correct weather at all, it was showing clear skies and 4 Kt winds when in fact it was overcast and with about 20 Kt winds from the west, so it seems it's a bit hit & miss. Flightsim worked fine for a week but now the game suddenly completely stopped working. It updated itself, (instead of the game, Windows Store opened and showed some game app updating), and every since the start screen is broken. You can press a key, but it shows the loading screen for half a second and then brings you back to the "press a key" screen. Any ideas? I googled some and saw people with the same problem who suggested making sure you're signed in with the Microsoft account, rebooting, running as admin,... none has helped.

Did anybody try to run this utility on a networked PC with google maps? Could you share details how to set it up and connect? Thanks!

Are the autopilots broken or are they more realistic? The autopilot seems to work well for me. To implement FLC you just have to select a speed lower than the present, there being no auto throttle the speed is controlled by pitch and for the pitch to be increased speed needs to be traded off. So are people reporting broken autopilots expecting them to work like on default FSX aircraft? Where you select alt and up (or down) it went with a default VS rate to the selected altitude. Whereas Alt is now is hold current altitude and in order to go to the desired alt you have to use VS or FLC (as noted above). What do other experienced simmers think?

MS Asobo just released "Asia, and The Middle East – Around the World Tour" and I was amazed how Tungbukan island along with coastal sandbars and corals are depicted. And I flew it on the sim to check it out, but I'm confused if I'm flying on the same island or not. And realized the actual stream online is different from the trailer, I made some adjustments from weather, time, wind, clouds everything. I even change the seasons with no changes. Did I missed anything? I'm running on Ultra on my Rig 7770K, 32GB, GTX1080 stuff.... Here's the Bing Map, this concerns me. even Boracay Island is messed up.
