Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

So many videos! This guy did a 8hr live stream, London to NY flight. Got hundreds of dollars as donation during the stream. Just WOW! MSFS is truly a revolution!!

Just a quick pause for thought really. Amidst all of the moaning about what this sim does and doesn’t deliver. And how expensive it is etc. Just consider that Microsoft have given us the entire world as a playground. Most of it in pretty amazing detail. As a basis for comparison, I also fly DCS. And I’ve just checked their latest map offering, Syria. It is currently on sale at a discounted $39.99. And that is for just the tiniest portion of the globe. And presented in less detail than we have as default. Suffice to say that my way of thinking has now been radically altered by MSFS. I shall NOT be buying Syria, nor any other minute fraction of the earth in any other …

But if someone can do this, how bad is it really? I am loving the sim, and I wish I had this guys talent! Truly beautiful. Questions answered on how it was done...

Has there been some kind of update we did not know about? My Asobo voices for ATC is now working, and perhaps its mind over matter, but my pitch and yaw axes does not seem as twitchy(still the most negative thing about this sim imo.). Just an observation.

Hi everyone Has anyone else noticed that there is a mandatory update under ‘Content Manager’ but it’s greyed out and therefore not possible to pint a tick in the box .... It also says to update please relaunch the sim ... but with everything greyed out nothing is possible!! Paul

In the suburbs around Johannesburg, just west of FAOR, the houses are basic auto gen and do not resemble that actual structures. This is of course normal for most areas but what I did find odd is that many houses have an old car tyre or two on the roof. Many also have a couple bricks on them too. it is not uncommon for shack dwellers in South Africa to do this to weight down the shack roof so it does not get blown away in the wind but these tyres are everywhere. My house has a tyre and a few bricks, all in fairly good quality texture, lying on the roof. (and before you say it, no, I am not simming in a shack). Hi guys, Wanted to get your opinion. Finally i managed to lock my FPS and i get overall smooth experience then being on unlimited FPS. However i do notice that now the terrain mesh is starting to get more detail once i am quite close to it. It noticable the most in mountain areas but not only. Its like the limitation of the FPS wont let the sim load the mesh fast enough. Any idea ? Much appreciate your help !

I've looked at many Scenery Manual Cache guides on Youtube and I can now create a manually cached area in low, medium and hi res. The area goes white when completed. However when I load the area in the sim, though I get more detail, the buildings and most landscape features (particularly cliffs) look completely generic, but in the correct place. Maybe my settings are wrong? I'm finding I still need to enable online Bing maps and Photogrammetry otherwise the manual cache icon goes grey. Surely if I downloaded a detailed area then the whole point of running saved data is that you no longer need to be "online". I'm confused! I'm pretty sure I saved the manual cache…

Having problems trying to add some free add-ons - I've copied them to my community folder but they are not showing up. I have two other products already in there which do show - the free ORBX airfield and Kos by Gaya systems. any ideas?

Is there a maximum number of peripherals because msfs is only seeing 12 of my 13? I have a home cockpit with 8 Bodnar cards, 1 throttle, 1 yoke, rudder pedals, keyboard and mouse. Msfs is only seeing 7 of the 8 Bodnar cards. If i unplug one and plug in the missing one instead It sees it ok then. Windows is seeing all of them but not msfs. Cheers Stinger

I need a new computer 1500$ then i need to get internet of which i dont want 100$ month then i would have to get the delux 120$ if i do get it someday i hope its worth it. btw ,, i thought they were going to have the ability to use it without internet??

this thing is incredible with terrain mesh. I mean after this I understand why I never tried to do VFR in P3D. Even with the best terrain mesh addon the world in P3D looks flat compared to this. Flying around my home town even though the photo is a bit outdated and low resolution, going close to the ground i could tell even the minor changes in elevation. Makes the VFR much more realistic and fun. I only recommend to try and have higher resolution photos and more accurate trees and this thing as far as scenery will be unbeatable.

Flying above a huge wind-park in my area today I noticed that while the windmills were turning, the shadows don't. Also the Shadows seem to be just static as they were in a completly wrong angle compared to the sun's psoition.. Also - and that's more of an issue for me: the red lights on top are supposed to be flashing but they are always on (don't know if this is true for all wind parks in RL tough Any similar observations for other objects?

I've observed some curious performance behaviour (and it was also mentioned in one of the recent reviews, so it's not just me) and I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on what's going on and if there's a way to unleash my PC? In a nutshell, when I fly the smaller prop planes, I get good FPS and my GPU is the limiting factor... running at 99%, with my CPU running at say 50-60%. However, when flying some of the jets, the 787 being the worst (I believe the A320 does this as well) I find my frame rates are not so great, yet it doesn't appear that I'm maxing out either my GPU or my CPU. The 'Developer' FPS monitor indicates my Main Thread is limiting. But my none of my …

Hello all, 1. Can somebody possibly tell me if a replay is possible and how to do it. I cannot find anything remotely applicable, but people are putting videos on this forum all the time. How are they doing it? 2. Same question for screenshots. 3. is there any way to permanently set external camera scroll speed (I am using a Saitek yoke hatswitch but cannot find a setting to set it permanently. It can be set using the task bar once I am in the flight, but it only lasts for that flight. Not a deal breaker ... just annoying. 4. Flying IFR KSFO to KBOI. 11000 ft. to clear the terrain. Of course, the Bonanza flies like an underpowered dog so I’ve got it firewalled the whole flight and I’m barely getting 130 kts. I get about 7 mile from Boise and the engine just gives up. Executed a successful forced landing on the highway outside of town. First inflight emergency in all my years of flying sims. Joe Alferio

I tried to load a Tokyo/Osaka flight I interrupted the other day, only to find that the GPS route was missing and the weather setting in the toolbar completely disabled (the toggle was grayed out). I then tried to load the save a second time and the game crashed to desktop...

Am I the only one that think the taxi lights are a bit strange? When I flick them on, the cockpit actually lights up, like the light is bleeding through the floor. Are they trying to portray some high fidelity feature of the real thing, or is this a pure bug?

After landing and parking the airplane I usually just continue flying without going to main menu. In many planes this work fine. However, in the neo the AT mode was stuck in landing mode and it didn't want to go back into climb, cruise and descent, so I had to set the speed manually. Is there a way to reset the whole thing without going to main menu?

Anybody else have trouble with these knobs? I find them a bit finicky with the mouse...by the time I get my course selected my altimeter is way off by accidentally adjusting it. Also cannot switch NAV frequencies while zoomed in...have to zoom out a bit first but then it is too small so also a but finicky. Also is the g1000 a bit glitchy? I have trouble with the FLC button...I could be using it wrong as I normally use VS to adjust altitude...but sometimes the FLC doesn't engage.

When flying the light aircraft I want to use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, but on other days I want to fly the larger aircraft with the Logitech Flight Yoke and throttles. At present I have only connected the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and the Flight Yoke and throttles will be delivered next week. My question is....Will there be any confliction between the two controllers and their settings?
