Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Greetings.. Old Codger here... so today I was playing around and loaded the A320 into the sim at a gate as I wanted to play around with all the Ground equipment. I had no flight plan listed, just spawned at a gate in Heathrow. I got jetway, fuel, and catering and then i asked for bagage to be delivered and ground control came back with.. Airbus G-MORI, we couldn't find your baggage. After I cleaned up the coffee I had spit over the keyboard I realised it was because I wasn't flying to anywhere, but I did think.. OK ultimate realism at Heathrow 🙂 Graham

Hello, my autopilot completely stopped working yesterday. It doesn't work in every plane, whenever I engage the autopilot it shows the flight director just fine, and also moves the yoke in the correct direction, but the plane just banks to the right until it starts spinning. It only slightly moves the control surfaces, but not nearly enough, until it spins out and crashes. For example in a 747, when I select Heading and altitude hold, I can see the flight director and the yoke moving in the correct direction, but it doesn't move the plane. Anyone having the same issue? Okay, have I really just been that blown away to not notice this before? I just landed at KSAN (it was BUSY) and ground had me wait on a landing heavy. I watched as a United jumbo went by in full United colors. I was under the impression that none of the liveries were in the game as is. At least I hadn't seen any way. Are there some in the game and I've really just missed them?

Guys I need your help. I'm aware of shortcoming with CDU and system. But I'm trying to figure up what actually works! I'm able to enter Zero Fuel Weight and Fuel Weight. However, I don't know where to find CG or how to enter it? Is there any work around or it doesn't work? Thanks!

I learned about Insert and End keys, and programming views using ctrl-alt-1 thru 10, but for the life of me I just want a ZOOMABLE top-down view and forward view is all. Also, for external view is there a way to toggle off the HUD overlays? Thanks

wow setting windows for best performance of background services really works to stabilize game performance! The sim runs much smoother since i changed the setting. I know this has been discussed before but it really helps noticeably on my computer.

Upon starting the sim, it said there is a mandatory update and then opened Microsoft store, but did not see the update anywhere, or its size. I can, however, click download MSFS and it says 333.2MB. Is this correct? Thanks!

I'm getting to grips with the autopilot and autothrottle of the Cessna Citation Longitude. One thing I can't figure out is the autothrottle with Flight level Change mode. You can select either knots or mach. But if you choose mach, it doesn't reflect the mach speed on the airspeed ribbon,and it also doesn't keep a specific mach speed during the descend or climb, instead maintains amount of knots since last time you changed the knob. EDIT: Also, I set the full tank sliders to 100% and did an IFR flight at FL450, but despite the 3k or so range, I didn't even make it across France before running out of fuel, anyone know if I'm missing something obvious that could…

After reading many posts regarding cache usage, I came to the conclusion that the only real benefit of the manual cache is to reduce our internet bandwidth usage when flying in the saved areas and have access to that data when playing offline (please correct me if I am wrong). Since I am always connected to the internet on a 400 Mbps bandwidth with unlimited downloads, and always run MSFS connected to a server, I think that in my case creating a manual cache is not needed. I am nonetheless questioning the benefit of increasing the rolling cache (currently at 8GB), but can't decide if there is a real benefit. Would increasing it improve performance or would it simply …

Upon launching the sim today I found that the aircraft was suddenly invisible, only NAV lights are showing. Reboot did not help, changing aircraft did helt either. Anyone else experienced this? The cameras are working because I can navigate to saved camera positions, but of course all I see is the runway. Panning outside the cockpit and the aircraft is still invisible...

You might be aware of the excellent free VFR map, available here: https://github.com/lian/msfs2020-go/releases It's an excellent app and it runs really well. However I cannot persuade it to run AT THE SAME TIME as the sim. Whether I run it in full screen or windowed mode, either it, or the sim is in focus, but not both. Unlike the standard VFR map which acts as a working overlay, the VFR map stops the sim running when it is on screen, even though it is overlayed. The props move but the sim is inactive. If I ALT TAB then either the sim runs, or the map runs, but not both. EDIT: Downloaded previous version 05 and now it can run both but cuts the sound from MS…

Well, I've been at MSFS since 8AM EST this morning. I just flew out of Athens, Greece (LGAV) to the island of Milos (LGML). On my way there, I flew over the Piraeus. While I saw a lot of satellite photos of ships / boats, I saw no actual boats / ships even with leisure boats and ship and ferries both set to 100. That's a bit disappointing. Other than that, I'm learning to tweak my graphics settings based on my location to get the best performance I can on my system. Happy flying.

I've discovered that sometimes I will start the sim, and it will act like I have the regular version when I bought the premium-deluxe version. All of the extra planes (sr-22, etc) are gone. My internet has been a little glitchy lately, with brief dropouts happening a couple of times an hour. I'm assuming that I have an internet dropout right as it's checking to see if I have a license for the extra content, and I also assume that it must run two license checks (do you have a license for the base sim? Hi Just got the same bug again where my mouse clicks dont work at all. I can click the UI menu but not any buttons or dials on the aircraft. The mouse wheel is also unresponsive and right click. I can use the mouse on the menu and other programs at the same time but not on MSFS2020. This is like the third time this happens mid flight. Sometimes it is triggered by going into the Showcase view and after that it just becomes unresponsive. I have tried change the views, alt+enter, plugin mouse again, but nothin. only helps if I reset the sim. Anyone else have had the same problem ?

I was overwhelmed by the sounds on the multiplayer aircrafts. Watching A320 and 787 take off from the runway and you get that growling sounds from the jetblast, you could even hear they shutdown and start engines. Can you imagine what 3party developers can do with sounds on the ai aircraft for example😁

I was thinking... for those who love to flight long-very long flights, what if a smart tool is developed to decrease the graphic settings (maybe scheduling it, or after a specific time of "inactivity") in order to reduce the stress for our computers?

So uh, with some of the negativity around here lately and especially in the official flight simulator forums, I thought I'd post something a bit more positive and potentially helpful to others who also have an older rig and are on the fence about this sim's performance. Hello I know lots of people have reported that FS is locking up on the blue bar during loading, but has anyone like me experienced this problem after a DVD install? In my case when the blue bar gets half way across the screen background goes blank, the bar then continues very slowly to the end, after which nothing happens. I have tried the various fixes suggested online, like running as Admin, with no success so have given up for the time being. Are we confident that the up and coming patch, we I believe is releases tomorrow, will fix this problem? Thanks Robin
