I was terrified, but was racing this other dude and wanted to beat him. We were on a sparsely trafficked section of about 10 miles of freeway. The actual top speed of that car was about 120mph, but I was on a downhill slope so was able to hit 130. The fastest I ever got after that was 180kph on the Italian autostrada. I'll never go that fast again except in an airliner, or maybe high speed train if we ever get one in the U.S. Dave

Wow! I wonder how fast he's going? The fastest I ever got was 130mph(209kph) in a 1970 Pontiac LeMans. Yeah, I was young and a bit foolhardy. Dave

For years I've believed that, even within the context of the major religions, it is possible that we live multiple lives. Our spirits or souls simply transfer to a newborn body at some point after the old one dies. Maybe there's an intermission or waiting period in between. Perhaps when we're in spirit form and are our true selves, we remember everything about every life we've lived, making us enlightened and wise beyond comparison as we have many experiences and learn many things over the millenia. Of course, when we're in human form we don't remember our past lives, so It is unusual to find some folks who claim they do. I do think it could be possible, though. There's a lot we still don't know or understand. There was a TV show some years back about past lives which turned out to be a hoax, so you have to be careful of the con artists and hoaxers who try to make money off this. Dave

I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters 10 years after this incident. I've been in that forest, but I don't remember much...... Dave

First, mid-March isn't exactly Winter in southern California, but yeah, 97F is pretty unusual for that time of year. I read it was another one of those heat domes. Maybe it's something to do with La Nina and the Pacific Ocean warming, or maybe it's all the concrete, asphalt, and huge hordes of people living in that part of California that has contributed to the temperatures being higher there within the past 100 years, or maybe both, or maybe something else. Fact is, nobody knows for sure. Second, accurate weather records only go back about 100 years and they get more inaccurate and sparse any further back in time than that, and then very quickly to the point where there are no records at all. Neither you nor the most qualified, brilliant scientists on earth can know exactly what the temperatures were in a particular location throughout all of the planet's history, so all these "records" being set are merely the highest and lowest readings we have for the past 100 years or so, which on a time scale of hundreds of millions of years means almost nothing. I watched a documentry about this several years ago. There were many witnesses, and some were visited by nice men who told them not to speak of it, or else. I'm glad that people are speaking out now, but one still has to be cautious because some unscrupulous people try to make money off this stuff. Dave

I've concluded that the workforce is about to undergo a major revolution, akin to the industrial revolution of the early 1900s. The monied class and big tech aren't investing trillions of dollars into all these data centers and AI for nothing. They expect a huge return on their investments. The way they achieve a big return on investment is by getting rid of many expensive white collar workers first, and then build the robots to get rid of many blue collar workers. No more salaries and benefits to pay, and no more having to deal with humans demanding a raise or going on strike. Dave

You're tryng to divert the blame and distract away from the actual problem by making the children and parents the victims and the adults who are bothered by the noise and unruliness the ones with a problem. Well, that just won't fly, my friend. Children are by nature undisciplined and unaware that their behavior is disturbing other people, so it is the adult parents' responsibility to reign in their kids and force them to behave civilly. Unfortunately, in my experience a lot of parents over the past 20 years or so have largely decided to forgo any discipline and just let their children act out and scream and such in public, and they should be publicly called out for allowing it. It's high time that those of us in society who are reasoned and mature start openly calling out others for their bad behavior, as well as complaining when things aren't done right or well. Otherwise, if everyone just stays quiet and passively accepts poor service, bad behavior, or poor quality, then the people perpetrating it will think that it's OK and may not even realize that they're doing something wrong, so things never improve. All of which I agree with, and all of which is exactly why you don't want any govt. making those decisions. Private companies and indivduals can make their own decisions about what speech they will allow and forbid, and the free marketplace will provide numerous alternatives for all kinds of speech. The concept is pretty simple. I as a property owner can decide exactly what speech I will allow on my premises, and I can expel anyone who violates my rules. This concept applies to physical property including businesses, as well as websites. Obviously, if I own a business and do something extreme like not allow people of a certain race or gender to enter, I will likely go bust pretty quick, so no sane business owner would ever do that. Believe it or not, society is quite capable, most of the time, of regulating itself with reasonable rules put in place, and only occasionally do we need a govt. authority or court to intervene, but they should be there if we need them, otherwise it's anarchy and chaos. I'm against governments censoring anything. Individuals and businesses can censor themselves if they wish and put in protections for children, or make parents do their job and protect their own children instead of expecting others to do it for them, but govt. should not. This is the first of of several steps in taking complete control over the Internet and information, and ultimately eliminating free speech, which they fully intend to do. Dave

If it were truly about protecting the children, then I'd agree with you; but it's not about protecting the kids. It's all about control and censorship. The authoritarians will go after VPNs next. Dave
