Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I currently have MSFS, purchased from the MS Store, installed in the default location. I would like to 'move it' to something like C:MSFS2020 instead. Is the best way to do this to uninstall MSFS using the uninstaller on the START menu, and then redownload the sim again from the MS store? I use the AddOnsLinker, so my addons are 'safe', I think. I would also save a copy of the wgs folder which has my controller setups, and the UserCfg.opt folder. Am I missing anything with this procedure? Thx, Al

I'm getting poor performance in large urban centers like Los Angeles and Miami of a stuttering/pausing nature with the latest update. LA is by far the worst. Approaching LAX from the east, for example, I'm getting almost continuous random pauses lasting as long as one or two seconds. The sim is now unflyable for me in the A320 in this area. I've tried the route repeatedly including adding the area to the manual cache. Note, these are all photogrammetric areas. My sim and aircraft are totally stock - no add-ons. Are others seeing this? Ideas to the cause? Some great changes in this update, but this stuttering is a show stopper for me.

The physics on the new sim are outstanding. I've never seen aircraft behave so fluid and real before today. The control curves... are a different story, in my opinion. I set the sensitivity to -70% on all the control axis, and deadzone to 10%. It's made it at least possible to get off the ground now, but it's still very squirrely. Anyone figure out a solution?

Is it me or... - Auto Pilot dials going out of control meaning very hard to set things like altitude - Yesterday I added the Air Asia livery from the mega pack. Looked okay on the menu, in game I get FlyByWire skin. Today added a few more, select Tiger in the menu, in game I get Air Asia?? Are these bugs common? Any temporary workarounds?

Anyone else getting many bridges that stretch down to the water and traffic not on the road?

Hi guys. I've been having this problem in the island of Pico, Azores. I've tested in other islands and it doesn't happen. The ground textures have very low resolution and it "blinks" with other higher resolution textures. Can anyone check if this is happening with any of you? Thank you for your help! Regards, André

The flight from Rome to Zurich with the modded TBM went very good until the approach, where a dramatic fps drop and stuttering at 1fps happened. Impossible to land. So I decided to deactivate the photogrammetry and the 1 fps stuttering went gone, but a severe general fps drop at 25/22 remained. In normal conditions when I start a new flight from Zurich, I have about 35/40 fps. Usually every flight in FSXX is terminating with heavy fps loss, especially in large airports, but yesterday night the sim was literally unplayable.

Can you one please tell me if I select the AI to pilot the 747 after I set a flight is he supposed to follow that plan, as he doesn't. I set a flt plan from Manchester to Zurich, instead of heading towards Zurich he was heading towards Belgium.

there is no doubt that the night lighting is much worse than it was before … it looks more XPLANE now !!! Where the colors are???, everything is two-tone!!!, cities look lifeless … and those empty spaces where there was lighting before…Let me say briefly, PLEASE FIX THE NIGHT LIGHTING, IT LOST ALL ITS UNIQUE CHARM !!!

After three days of downloading the reinstall at 2mb/s, the only speed at which the dreaded download loop reset did not occur, I've got the sim on my second drive and it's running again. Somehow, it kept some config files, since I did not have to reconfigure my joysticks. The uninstall apparently does not fully uninstall the sim. I do notice, though, that the icon points the some very long cryptic path on my c drive. Is this normal. Is there a way to backup the sim so as not to have to repeat this next time if it crashes? I am assuming that with the way MS has tied the sim , a backup is a waste of time and disk storage. tc

That will be more than any year since my days with Sunair VA and subLogic's Flight Assignment ATP back in the 1990's, when I routinely logged 400 ~ 500 hours a year flying twice weekly VA routes, once from KPLH to KSTL and back, and once back and forth from KIND and KMSY. Sorry for the dumb question. Haven’t played flight sims in 20+ years. I’m now on Mac but am excited about the scenery in MSFS (especially VFR low and slow). To play if though, I’d have to (1) build or buy a PC (2) wait for X Box or (3) play X Plane 11 on Mac. im interested in your advice. Spending 2k for a hobby might or might not be dumb. I hope to learn a320 and others but that’s a ways off. Would you mind sharing your Ionian on (especially those who are flying MSFS and who have experienced X-11? Thanks

I don't know if this was posted, if that sorry. Is there any way to change the frequencies used by ingame ATC for the real life ones? I mean ,in game Barcelona center frequencie is 119.45 but in real life/IVAO is 135.350 , any way to change that ? thanks

Why why can I not capture a LOC (ILS Approach) Tried so many ILS CAT III landings...never holding or capturing the LOC. Made a youtube movie from the Primary flight display. I hope someone can see what is going wrong on my side. Did a FRESH MSFS2020 install. Tried with A320 MOD and Navigraph Beta. In FSX/P3D we had an effects folder and we could delete lightning visuals and sounds could be deleted from the sounds folder. Since Asobo insist its our imagination and they flying hours everyday and not seeing it, i guess its here to stay for a very long time. I don't want to use presets, i still love the live weather but this is simply ridiculous ! Not 1 flight without constant lightning. Please i just want to delete the effect completely at this point.

I do not remember having seen such an explosion of quality freeware and payware, so much and so fast after a release of any sim. That puts into perspective the genuine (some are less than genuine...) complaints that the SDK is incomplete and badly documented. This is true but that does seem to bother too much our valiant amateur or professional developers in the scenery and light aircraft departments. A vote of thanks to all of them and Asobo to have constructed a platform which allows that !

Time for another support ticket. Everyone including myself has been so busy flying around looking at scenery no one has done a true IFR flight. I just struggled through a CJ4 flight with an autopilot that struggled to maintain climb angle only to find when I got to my destination ATC just vectored me past the runway and never vectored me back to the airfield. This was a visual approach not even IFR.

Unless I've been missing something, there doesn't seem to be a way to open the doors, say, on the Cj4 Huge immersion killler for me. How am I supposed to get to my seat? Slither in through the pitot tubes?

Hi. I run FS2020 version 1.10.8.0 and I can't select altitude anymore with the turning knob. FS2020 crashes immediatly.

I wonder how, along the run, ASOBO could bring soaring weather to the platform... Simply feeding the sim with "model" data isn't going to do the "miracle", but I would really love to be able to soar over the best scenery I ever experienced in any flightsim, using thermals, convergence, even wave !

I have another issue. After installing the A32NX then the autopilot doesn't follow the heading (FMC or direct). I installed FS2020 completly new. Then it worked but again after installing A32NX same thing. After deleting A32NX folder the A320 is back to std FS2020 but problem is still there. Someone any idea? Thank you.

I am just starting to have problems with the Carenado Ovation, so I need to delete it from content manager and redownload it to see if it fixes the problems. As I bought this from the marketplace I need to know that when I delete it from the content manager, it will let me download it again without trying to charge me again. I have the steam version of MSFS. Thanks for any help. John.
