Hi Everybody, Just curious what others are using for a cache size in Auto Ortho, I have it set at 30GB. Would their be any benefit increasing or decreasing the size?

I have installed the Sparky 747 and set it up for a flight. When taking off, I move the thrust levers forward, but the plane does not move. The engines just roar. The parking brake is off; there are no conflicts between the sim and the joystick, then when this happens, I cannot bring the thruster levers back down with either the mouse, keyboard, or the joystick. So, it seems something is hanging, but not the simulator, as I can move to the menus, etc. Any ideas, please?

and eagerly wait for it to go final and xp12.3 to be the next run, probably with emphasis in other aspects of the simulation. In the meanwhile when I get a slot at the desktop to make a short/medium range flight, I pick a Toliss, or the Citation 525, just as in msfs 2024 I can pick the fenix 320 or the default WT CJ4, and go flying with xp's default ATC, using Simbrief for planning and JUSTFLIGHT'S Traffic Global. But if for instance it's an heli I want to fly, then xp12 is my only option, using the Bell 212 or the UH-1H, or some excellent freeware alternatives. If weather is a factor, then it's mostly xp12 I will pick, to feel the true need to avoid active…

Hi there As an Autoortho-user, I'm having the (well known...) problem that some payware-sceneries only work with the provided mesh-folder, in which case unfortunately that mesh overrides the orthos coming from Autoortho. But some of the devs provide a patch with the ending ".osm". I've read that the "ortho4XP"-tool can handle those patches and create an own tile. The problem is that I have never used Ortho4XP and it seems pretty complicated to install... Do one of you guys know if there is an easier way to generate an ortho-tile I can use together with Autoortho by converting that osm-patch without having to spend many time to install and learn how to use Ortho4XP? S…

Last week I purchased the X-Crafts EMP 195, but after watching a few videos on the PMS EMB 175 I really think I'll give that one a chance too: First look at the new FPS E175 for X-Plane12 on VatSim. |KCLT/KJFK| Any of you guys own both and could kindly comment on the pros / cons of each? Thx !

Sid is having a nice discussion on other forum about GPU out of mem and Vulkan device loss, how they are not pretty much related. Also mentioned that some of these stutters are causes when the other threads suddenly get taken to task that the main thread will sometimes throttle, and cause stutters, they dont quiet know what causes it and it varies on CPU. Found this due to the 60sec stutter caused by weather update. Queit long posts. And some reading https://developer.x-plane.com/2025/05/whats-up-with-device-losses-in-x-plane-anyways/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aMcFzG00Ik should probably be in the "videos" section, but here I am sure it can call for more viewers 🙂 Looks like a very well ( AND FREE !!! ) modeled 744 for XP11. The guy flying it doesn't look like being very profficient, he even starts with wrong flap settings for takeoff and asks why the hell he's getting an alert, but..., other than that the video nicely shows this very very interesting 744 ! BTW: Anyone ever heard of this mSparks guy the youtuber mentions ?

I've been looking for an addin that will print cabin announcments / alert. I guess a kind of speech to text. But no luck so far. Some alerts are simple enough based on content (pull up, gear, etc) but there are some single words that I just can't get. Hopefully as a popout so the window can be enlarged to a readable size. (Info: the answer for hearing impaired is not simply 'turn up the volume', imagine if you will the muffled railway / tannoy announcments of Piccadilly or Victoria...) Thanks in advance... 🙂

The title can seem misleading, but it's true, at least to a degree. SInce I started learning flying helis in XP11/12, and since I actually learned to not die on every flight, to hover, to take off and land steadily without any panicking, I must say that airplanes are not fun anymore. At least not fun comparing to flying helis. Helis engage your brain and senses so much, that airplane flying just became boring. Let me describe fast: - With helis, your brain is occupied with so many axis and movements, and it actually feels like trying to find a center of gravity of the dinner plate that stands on a chopstick. Constant battle. But when you master it, it's INC…

Well, that's it. This latest update, even though it's a Beta, has made up my mind for me. X-plane 12 is now officially my main Sim! It finally dawned on me that, while MSFS 20 and 24 are almost always a frustration of one sort or another, whenever I fly XP it just seems to go smoothly. Then, the Beta came out with the improved clouds and such, and that was the last nail in the MSFS coffin... I'll probably use MS for some VFR flying, but that's about it, I would think. I did the same thing with P3D back in the day, until MSFS came out, but I was never completely happy with it. Time to come home!

Hi all, I reported a bug related to the shift-4 view selection when using an AZERTY keyboard via the online bug report form. This same issue already existed back in X-Plane 11 and was also reported back then but unfortunately never fixed. I decided to report it again for X-Plane 12 but this time I haven't received a XPD tracking number. Is that still a thing or are the devs too busy with 12.2 beta? Not sure if the bug report reached the team or not... Regards, Sylvain

Hi all - I decided to buy XP12 as I have not tried it in a long time (XP10?) and was intrigued with some of the nice improvements (esp in Beta). I have done a few flights in the Zibo 738 and overall getting smooth performance. Is it possible to set up an FPS lock in XP? NCP does not seem to do much as I set it to 30 with Vsync set to adaptive 1/2 rate as I run my monitor at 60hz but my FPS seems to then stick at 60. At KDCA, I am sitting around 45-50 which makes things stuttery. I'd prefer to just stick at 30fps but maybe XP is a different animal and I do not need to do any of this..?? Thanks for any help!

Hi pilots, I would love to buy the Airfoillabs Cessna 172 - it´s the best of the best, that´s the Piston Duke of X-Plane! - but before buying I want to know a specific certain detail about this plane... Can the volume knob of the radio panel be operated by me to make morse codes and beeps of VOR stations, beacons and middle and inner markers be audible? Thank you very much in advance for your answers! 🙂

The Navigraph survey is obviously dominated by ToS, but there IS Good News for X-Plane pilots: the vast majority of us seem to have transitioned to v12 in not too long a period of time! 🙂 Last year, Navigraph didn't even differentiate between v11 & v12, so i'm not sure what the 12-mo increase has been, but it would seem v12 is doing fine while looking & running far better than v11. I remember not too long ago when a fair few people were expressing doubts and negativity, but that seems to have generally evaporated. And even the Betas seem to be running well and releasing rapidly.
