Would be great if someone with good knowledge of ATC in VFR or IFR, could highlight the qualities of Xp12's built-in ATC. This is an area where offers are lacking in all available platforms. Some old products, no longer developed, like Radar Contact, appear to offer a more consistent / complete environment, and I have been using BATC with MSFS, after using FSHUD with P3D and MSFS too, and default Xp12 ATC, and actually have reverted to default ATC in MSFS too. I've noticed various improvements on Xp12's ATC but there are probably many details I'm not even aware of. There might be potential beyond what is seldom observed in some youtubes, so, maybe some RW r…

If you are browsing this forum and wondering if XP12 weather is for you - here are some images of an approaching weather front at Shoreham airport in the UK (EGKA). The first image show a satellite view of South UK. Brighton (Location of Shoreham) is on the south coast, right at the point between the clouds and clear sky to the East. XP12 default weather has absolutely nailed the clouds and late evening sun! Here is the view looking East from Shoreham showing clear skies with the front overhead. The view to the north shows cirrus and stratus - even sloping down towards the front as IRL! Finally looking to the West at the approaching …

For since when I have only placed my repaints on the Org as we shall call it under the nom de plume of BendyFlyer (a handle I use a lot on many accounts). Decided to no longer do that and will only place them into the Avsim Library instead. Mix of payware and freeware aircraft. Here is a list of what is will be going up in due course: Hydroz Catalina (Freeware release w mods applied)- Frigate Bird, Qantas, TAA, Ad Astra, Qantas Sunrise Sunset camo, RAAF white. Shensee B707/720 Qantas (The entire fleet all 14) Icelandic Eagle Cargo, Air Malta, Air Madagascar, Varig, Lan Chile, Cathay Pacific, Air Vietnam, XHangars C404 Titan - Eastern Airlines, RFDS, Austra…

I find myself pining for a "serious" GA trainer with modern features. Usually I skip anything that's fixed gear, but hey, I'd love to have one of these IRL, so who am I to complain? 😁 I could also get most of the things that are important to me in the REP available for the Default SR22, but I'm willing to keep an open mind. So if you've got it, how is it these days, after being out for a good many years at this point...? Or...I could do the exact opposite and get the FF 777 for almost exactly the same $$ 😂

FSExpo 2025 wasn't bad but I wasn't too impressed with many of the announcements except for Winwing. Nothing surprising until I saw the unexpected news that Toliss and Aerosoft are partnering to bring the A340 to MSFS. More income streams are great for ToLiss and future add-ons. There isn't a great study level a340 on the platform yet so this could be a big seller just by the association to ToLiss' name.

I used ActiveSky in MSFS and was quite impressed. I have no experience with AS in XP so wondered if it is worth a look seeing as how the weather has been improved in XP12. Anyone got it and would recommend?

I don't do much simming in X-Plane, and my flying is usually limited to testing in clear skies at SCIP. However, when I came across these recent developments, I was truly "mind blown." It's incredible to think that this impressive work is the result of collaboration between one main programmer and two talented individuals who contributed significantly with their art direction. Each person's input played a crucial role in bringing this project to life. Kudos to the entire team for their hard work and creativity! X-Plane 12.2.1 All default.

I've been busy of late upgrading my flight sim rig. I had a catastrophic C:\ drive failure which resulted in getting a better motherboard & cpu from my youngest son. I also had to upgrade the ram to ddr4. Added a 2tb ssd for c:\ drive. Full pc specs in my sig. Once I got it up and running, then came the reinstall of a lot of items and finally testing and started flying again. However, I kept looking at the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. My last yoke was the CH Products Yoke with the 9 or so pin game style plug that connected to the old sound cards (sound blaster & turtle beach). I've been using joystick/HOTAS style hardware for many years and wanted to get a yoke a…

I decided to have a play with Ortho4XP, to see if the scenery was any better than what the Map Enhancement Tool can produce (I was thinking of doing just the UK). I used an overall setting of ZL17 with ZL18 around airports. Results were good, but I wasn't happy with the colour balance. I used XnConvert so I could process the JPGs before using Ortho4XP to generate the DDS files. This meant I could change colour balance, levels etc. Although the results were good, I still felt the Map Enhancement tool gave overall excellent ortho without the considerable time and effort required by Ortho4XP. the Map Enhancement Tool has controls for saturation, brightness and contrast an…

I'm taking another look at XP12 because I have an issue in MSFS2024 that doesn't look like it will be addressed. I have installed a fresh copy of XP12 and updated to the latest beta. I have installed the Map Enhancement Tool and Global Forests (Sim Heaven will follow). I have two issues. 1. Ortho seems to have a veil over it, kind of greyed out. I used XP12 for six months when it was first released, and the Ortho looked great. Spoiler 2. Excessive Haze/low visibility. Every flight so far in different live weather, even when reported clear and no clouds, has reduced visi…

I requested a feature to generate terrain tiles without the decals being applied. The developer has done this just a couple of days after I made the request, so many thanks to him for that! Get the new 3.0.16 version here.

FWIW a mention of not to seek answers or criticise payware suppliers to XPlane.org. I recently posted twice - on two same but similar topics - updates or the lack thereof and the lack of communication from the developer about that. Were they definitely offered - depends on how your read the cryptic responses and I might add always on the discordant discord not the Org. So apparently asking as I did that it had been over a year now are they to be considered legacy (XP11) and left. I also complained on a separate thread about the lack of response - namely - customer service or the lack thereof. Apparently this is now classed as trolling and got me a one month ban from doing…

I am wondering and wanting to get Xroads to work with Map Enhancement, I installed Xroads as prescribed, but it doesn't work, and I can't understand the context of how it works. Map Enhancement doesn't start with zOrtho scenery layers so I'm wondering if there might be a method to "make it so". I notice that many smaller roads with Map Enhancement are paved into the mountains into places that they look poor and take away the immersion. Anyone out there have any insight into this?

Hangar 23 is the developer author of a very fine vintage aircraft the Bellanca Aircruiser or Airbus. I actually bought this from the store when it was payware. Updates (few really required) via Skunkcraft. This week Hangar 23 removed it from the Org store and released it to the sim community as freeware reading between the lines - not much interest and overheads of the store and skunkcraft probably ate up any profit. Like its original had limited appeal and did not go out the door in any numbers. I would recommend any of you interested in vintage planes, a high quality model to get it. There will be no more updates. Hangar 23 is now working on other stuff (what I do not k…

Hi, I hope someone can help here. I have an Alienware M18 R2 Laptop with Nvidia RTX 4090, Intel i9-14900HX running Win 11. I have a Honeycomb alpha yoke and Honeycomb beta throttle setup. I am running the latest X-Plane 12 version. When I load any GA aircraft that has a Garmin 430, 530, 1000 screen, they appear blank with nothing displayed. As soon as I unplug the Honeycomb Alpha yoke USB, the screen comes to life. When I plug the USB in again, the screen goes blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mel.

I use X-Plane 11 with Elite hardware — Elite Pro Panel III (yoke) and Elite Pro Power Quadrant (throttle). Since the recent update to the ‘Elite Hardware Interface V3’ software, the throttle, prop, and mixture controls have stopped working in X-Plane. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known fix or workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

XRoads hides autogen roads in X-Plane so that roads in the ortho can be seen. A more natural appearance, plus parked cars and road markings become visible. I still can't believe how good XP12 is looking - it is stunning! Spoiler

I've been using XP12 now for a few weeks. every time I load it I marvel how it portrays the world, but many simmers never get to see what's possible with it. They see comparison videos that often try to show XP12 in a poor light. MSFS cannot create a scene as realistic as this screeshot. I had a discussion on the MSFS forum where an individual tried XP12. He compared the default XP12 with the default MSFS2024. I suggested he try the Map Enhancement Tool to better compare the two products, but his thought was why bother installing and configuring an addon when he already has worldwide satellite imagery in MSFS - a valid point. Secondly he noted how soft th…
