Ordered 4k TV for MSFS and new CPU - 5800x3d (from current 5600x). Trying to squeeze value from current setup so aiming to keep MSI X 6800 XT gaming trio GPU. I am not an «Ultra» person for settings. I keep most at medium except for clouds at ultra. LOD is at 100. Do you think I will be able to reasonably run at 4k, or should I start saving for 4080 gpu?

I have three monitors. #1 (left) is attached to video card via HDMI. #2 & #3 are attached via display port. #1 & #2 monitors are 7 years old. #3 is 6 months old. Video card is a GEForce 2070. Recently, when I power computer up, #3 comes up right away but #1 & #2 take 30 seconds or more to come up. Question: Is this a monitor issue or video card issue? Seems odd that the two oldest monitors are behaving slow the same way but attached to video card differently. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

So in a change from seemingly constant topics asking if a 4080/4090 and 13700K/13900K are fast enough for MFS (well yes DUH, they're top tier, stop bragging about how much you're spending!), here's a thread about something us mere mortals can potentially afford! I was hoping the Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti would be the GPU sweetspot of this generation but it has left a large gulf in performance and price before the RTX 4070. The professional reviews all pretty much draw the same conclusions and were fairly negative: Isn't as fast as an RTX 3070 Only offers single digit percentage increases above an RT…

A common question. Running my trusty 1080ti with P3Dv5.4 settings mostly to the right, the performance is great. However, some airports sceneries, if you stay too long crash with lack of memory. The RTX 3090 certainly has the memory at 24gb, but is the performance good as well. The current second hand market is about £600 up. Is it worth it? Opinions greatfully received.

I've shared some thoughts in various threads but have not made my own. I wanted to do an official one with pics etc. Background: I built a completely new system last year (excluding GPU) which is a 12700K 4.7GHz / 32GB ddr5 5600 / GTX 1080 Ti / MSI Z690. I ran with all high settings and some set to ultra such as Clouds and precache - all at 1440p. I did identical tests to what I'm running below (for this mini benchmark I ran Ultra and LOD 200 with the 1080 Ti). When I made the jump to the 12700K I shared my thoughts in thread in the main hardware area. I came from a 4790K and essentially doubled my fps, in some areas 2.5x. Last month I dropped 1400USD (incl tax…

So 12 months ago i gave my son my trusty old EVGA 1080Ti because i got a 3080 , the 3080 was good for sure , i have even upgraded to a 4080 now , but why do i still have missing feelings for my old 1080Ti, i will tell you because just like today with the 4090 ,the 1080TI did the same thing back in its day totally changed my experience with simming , this is just a small bow of the head to the GOAT ( IMO) 😉

Hello, I'm building a new FS pc. Need help finalising the GPU for the build. I'm in India, so prices are in INR. I can either get an Asus Strix 3090 for 70k or a Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX for around 105k. Is there any advantage to getting one over the over ? Both are within budget tbh, I'm just curious if NVIDIA last gen DLSS has any significant advantages over current gen AMD. Cheers

I previously used a 60hz tv and when I could maintain 60fps with gsync on it was perfectly smooth. I recently got a new gsync ultimate monitor with a range of 1-144 and I can’t get rid of the micro stutters or tearing when panning. I installed the driver, changed the refresh rate to 144 and enabled gsync in ncp. I’ve tried it with vsync in both ncp and in game but no dice. Am I overlooking something?

I'm hoping someone here can offer an idea as to what has happened to my Philips 4K monitor. I guess it's about 6 years old, and so far I've been very happy. However, a couple of weeks ago I noticed this light area appear on the screen. It is not always evident, as it depends on what is on screen eg, in the cockpit against the instruments it's not always to be seen, but at night, or when there is a clear blue sky, it becomes very obvious. Can anyopne offer any advice? Thnaks guys.

I know some people have had crash issues with the last string of drivers, another one to give a try. Also, while nothing specifically pertains to MSFS in the change, they've finally fixed DPC latency issues, which could result in some stutters and other latency related events for some people. Fixed Gaming Bugs Applying GeForce Experience Freestyle filters cause games to crash [4008945] Fixed General Bugs Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon for Ampere-based GPUs [3952556] Open Issues [Halo Infinite] Significant performance drop is observed on Maxwell-based GPUs. Title is self explanatory. Is there anyone who uses this monitor for MSFS? Interested in rumours I've heard about distortion at the edges(?) I would have thought this was only an issue if the view was too wide, or am I wrong? Is the loss of vertical 'real estate' an issue? Looking at incorporating it in a new build of my sim. Cheers.

I am getting this warning every time I start up MSFS " "drivers > 535.79.0 should be installed due to DX 12 issues" I am using DX12 and an old driver 528.24 that seems to work OK. Anyone recommend a more recent stable driver for MSFS when using DX12 beta? There are so many releases lately and with the latest one 536.40 some folks have been complaining of crashes on the MSFS forum

I'm still running Nvidia 522.25 driver on my RTX 4090. I was wondering if it was time to update my drivers. I was leaning towards 531.29 based on some of the reviews I've read. I'm wondering if I will see a difference compared to my current drivers. I figured I ask since some of you have already updated your drivers and I was looking for some feedback. Thanks

I have an i9 10900k paired with a 2080Ti today, the combination works quite well in MSFS, I run in 3440x1440 with everything on Ultra except T-Lod at 150 and clouds at high. I have received an offer to buy a 3080Ti at a good price and wondering if that card will make any difference? from what I understand, my Cpu will become a bottleneck in the system, and then maybe it's not a good idea to upgrade after all?

Hi guys I've got another thread going in the hardware forum but I'm seeking advice here because my new PC build is 100% for MSFS results. So I've purchased a shiny new PC (currently awaiting delivery), 4090 all the bells and whistles. I want to run everything at 4k Max settings. I'm going round in circles looking for a suitable monitor. After doing some extensive research its clear to run 4k/120hz or higher I need HDMI 2.1 OR DP 1.4 to go above 60 FPS The monitor should be GSYNC enabled NOT "GSYNC compatible" - no idea why though? The issues I'm having is the cost of a 4k GSYNC monitor at 120hz with HDMI 2.1 compatibility are incredib…

Hi all, I’m running P3D with my GTX 1080, and I’m planning to update. Running a 4K 65” tv as a monitor. Good FPS but sometimes they drop. I think it’s too much screen for a 1080. Could you help me with a nice price/quality replace. thanks all!

Hello, I’m considering upgrading to a 4080 from my 3080. At the moment, I use TAA as I find the cockpit displays go a bit blurry with DLSS. Am I correct in thinking FG is only available with DLSS mode and therefore cockpit displays will have a slight blur? Finally, the CPU is a 12600K, so would a 4080 be a overkill if I just upgraded the CPU or does the benefit of FG bypass a lot of the bottlenecking issues? Many thanks, Mike

I currently successfully run three ASUS 24" 1080p monitors using Nvidia Surround. These for use at mostly ultra (some high) graphic settings in MSFS 2020. Most of my use is for GA aircraft flying VFR. Is it likely that I would be able to maintain this level of performance with a single Samsung 49" Odyssey G9 QHD 240 hz monitor (LC49G95TSSNXZA)? Many thanks, Brian

Can any of you give me a third grader's explanation of 1440 vs 4K resolution? I'm gathering info for a new system and this seems to be the fork in the road for me. Yes, I want the amazing sharpness and clarity but I also want smooth fps. I'm not an fps counter so I'm not looking for that number; just fluidity. Assuming a current generation rig and a healthy budget ($3.5K-$4K), what would be the best bet be? No VR, just single monitor. Thanks! Brian

I have an RTX2060 Super and want to upgrade but spend no more than $500. Everybody is dissing on the 4060TI because it offers little performance improvements over the 3070. Okay, but what about over the 2060 super? Is it worth it then? I need help here! Thanks!

Good morning everyone, I'll be brief... Meanwhile I use a 60hz monitor with gsync, combined with trackir5, after numerous tests, I came to the conclusion that I have almost perfect fluidity by disabling gsync, using vsync (normal) in ncp combined with the fps limiter (always in ncp) at 60fps . Everything is fine, if it weren't, and that's why I'm asking for help here, that after a few seconds that I start using the sim (it does it with any plane, both default and addon) the ground starts snapping, if I move the view with the trackir it's very fluid, but the underlying ground snaps. The nice thing is that if I do ALT+ENTER, everything goes super smooth for a few more min…

I have a question, maybe stupid but here goes. I'm about to drop some serious dollar on a 4090, I'm going to buy a 4k monitor. If I get a 60Hz monitor does this mean my FPS will go no higher than 60FPS even with FG enabled? If so assume I have to go 120, 144hz or higher?

Noob here for 4k hardware. What hardware do I need to run MSFS smoothly at 4k resolution on a LG C2 42”? I am not focused on having all sliders on MAX. The one that I would like to have on high/max is clouds. But I saw this video on Youtube, and if this smoothness is real and doable, then yes thanks 🙂
