I'm needing a new video card as I gave my old card to my sister because hers died on her. I'm basing my choice of one of these three cards on the reviews and video card roundup found here:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-g...ard,2118-2.htmlMy old vid card was an old ATI X850 Pro AGP 256mb. Performance was bogged down at busy US add-on airports to barely acceptable levels. 12-14FPS on short final at high end add on airports like Flytampa, FSDT KORD, KJFK, etc. Obviously the 9800GT is the fastest card of the three and all three of these are an improvement over my old X850 Pro. I am looking at the 512mb version of all three cards, the 9600 GSO, 9600 GT, and 9800…

Hi all,Having a Hanns-g 28" HDMI monitor already and having read about the Matrox Triplehead2go digital edition, I went for another 2 Hanns-g 28" HDMI monitors and setup using the appropriate matrox software. I optimized FS9 using SGU and the default resolution. On entering VC mode the gauges are spread across the three monitors instead of on the centre monitor with other 2 for side views. I tried the same on FSX and I get in VC mode the panel is showing up on the left monitor and side views are centre and right. Does anyone know if a line has to be added to FS9 and FSX config files to adjust to what it is shown on the screenshots I have seen, I noticed the majority of m…

So I want my fs9 game to run better. Right now it runs ok enough for me to be satisfied but my fps ranges from 25-60 while playing. But on the other hand I dont have the luxury of recording because my fps drop to like 8-15. I want to be able to record my flights also with descent fps so the game doesnt look too choppy on fraps. I was thinking of getting a geforce 8600GT. Will this help with my fix? Current specs: Intel p4 8400 3.6 GHzprocessor 2GB PNY DDR2 RAM 500GB HD 80GB HD ATI Radeon HD 2400Pro Or whats the best card i can get for this system to max out fs9 or come real close with good fps and good fps while recording?

A hotfix for Vista to be included in Vista SP2 is available for a random problem with multi-core processors and the video driver that can cause a video driver reset (black screen) or a CTD using a graphics intensive application. My problem occurred in FSX and with other titles as well, but only using the 180.x driver.Details for the fix are found here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953186After about 8 hours of flying today, I was unable to reproduce the black screen I was seeing on my Vista 64 setup with an Nvidia 8800 Ultra and the 180.x series drivers. This would happen after a while, and never predictably. I'm not sure if this would "cure" the problem if you have…

Hi! I've had this thing bothering me ever since I got the 8800GT 512Mb about a year ago.To get the smooth gaming experience I have to get 60 fps, otherwise the display stutters, how frequent depending on the <60fps I'm getting.I think this is what's called microstuttering. Now today I decided to try FRAPS and capture in full screen at 30 fps. In FS9 I was getting around 50 fps and when I started capturing video, the fps naturally locked down to 30.This all was stuttering like mad and very annoying. But the resulting video I captured at 30fps is absolutley smooth. Just like when I get 60fps in the sim.I remember some years back when I was using an ATI X800 XT and how 30fp…

Hello guys and a Happy New Year,I'm looking for a new video card. I currently have a 320mb NVIDIA 8800GTS, but it delivers too less power for my needs. My present config is this:Intel E6850 2x 3,0GHz2 GB DDR-800 RAM.My question is if my CPU can cope with the GTX260. Because if not, I would rather long for the 9800GTX+, which is less expensive but also weaker in comparison. Thank you in advance!

Hi folks,I have two lovely LCD monitors both capable of running at 1920x1200 and I'm thinking of gatting a Matrox DualHead2Go (digital edition) device in order to run FS on them in fullscreen mode.Currently I use one as the PC monitor and the other as a TV but I want to use a SCART converter and a KVM switch (reserached and found these already) so as to be able to switch the 2nd monitor from showing half of the PC desktop to showing my TV or back again etc... The question is this; What will happen with the DH2G if one of the two monitors is, in effect, disconnected? Does this cause the DH2G to just revert to one screen, keep using both screens (but obviously you only see …

I currently use an 8800GTS 640 and get increased performance in DX10. My main problem is flickering runways and it drives me nuts. This seems to be common with the 8800 series of Nvidia cards in DX10. Is there anyone using a GTX 260 out there that can tell me if the messed up runways still exist with the newer 260 cards and drivers?I'm upgrading my card anyway. I'd much rather go Nvidia because they have much better drivers, but the HD4870 is cheaper and supposedly doesn't have the DX10 problems since it's an ATI card.Opinions would be great.

Hello,I currently have a nVidia GeForce 8600GT card on a Dell XPS M1530 laptop. I have FS9 installed and seem to be having an issue. When I run FS9 in full screen mode, it appears as if it is running in 16 bit colors. When I run it in windowed mode it looks normal. Is there any way of fixing the full screen mode to not look like 16 bit colors? Thanks,Brad

I finally got the Anti Aliasing to work thru Nhnacer, I go a nice profile and the sym looks good (using 180.84 beta drivers), but for some reason, I get a black screen at the flight parameters screen (where you pick the aircraft, time, location, etc, and view the aircraft preview). Also when I go into the sim itself the menus don't work, I click on them and nothing happens, they just disappear. I've done some research and concluded it is either a driver issue or an issue with AA being set at certain levels, I haven't been able to narrow the answer down from there. Any help or light that anyone can shed on this would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time I am doing "…

I'm seeing a few guys around here with GTX260's...so :( I just upgraded my system. I upgraded my motherboard to a Nvidia 780i, and I upgraded my video card from a Nvidia 8600GT to an EVGA GTX260. Once I got everything set up, I installed the drivers for both products, and started FSX. My performance is worse than before! Any suggestions? Beyond getting the most recent drivers, I'm not sure what to do. I've heard that the CPU could be holding the video card back in a sense. But I would expect that I would at least get as good performance as before. I have FSX on medium settings, and I can run the default aircraft fine...but it's the add-ons that I have issues with. my goal…

I have a GTX 260 overclocked edition GPU and it has a SPDIF Header connection on it, and it is located next to the power connectors. My question is two fold. 1) what exactly is it and 2) Do I need to connect it? The instructions that came with it says nothing about it.Thanks, Jim
