Working great except that I can't get AA & AF to work.I went from a ATI-card but used DriverCleaner and rebuilded my fs9.cfg.Tried both with NVIDIA Control Panel and nHancer. Can someone enlighten me how so set this correctly? And also if someone has the time, which settings for all the 3D values should I use? (Since that is more than just AA and AF =) ) ///Johan

Im thinking of buying one of the new Cards... 260, 280 or 285 gtx..... Im only playing Flightsim X...But I have seen a lot of reviews and at forums, that 260, 280 or 285 is making poor performance in FSX.How is the situation today, and what about the newest drivers....????My system: Intel quad 3.0 (overcl to 3.5) - Asus mother p5 pro - Ge 9800 gtx+ - 2 x 2gb ram pc 6400 - Vista 32 bit -Is my Ge9800 gtx+ good enough, or will 260, 280 or 285 make better performance.. lots of times my fps drops a lot in big airports, when I have to landShould I try to buy a new card ??????Chris from Denmark

I see these spikes mostly around busy areas like LGA, JFK with autogen at normal. If I set to zero they are almost gone. No problems at DEN, SLC, PHX, etc. Is there a specific cause for this?? Thanks. ---- Bruce

Does anyone know what causes these lines in the sky? My FS2004 just started doing this, I never noticed it before today. The lines in the sky are worse at dusk. It seems to be related to the lighting. My specs are listed below. I've tried nHancer, no nHancer, every setting in FS2004 but nothing works. I am running FS2004 in 1680X1050. I am using Activesky 6.5 as well. Frame rates are fine (40-60 FPS locked). Any help is appreciated.JimEVGA 790i Ultra MBIntel E8500 overclock to 4.0 GHz/1800 MHz FSB4 GB (2X2 GB) OCZ DDR3 1800 RAMEVGA GTX 260 896MB video card w/latest nVidia driverWindows XP32FS2004 (9.1)

I have a Dell Dimension 9200 Intel 6700 duo-core (2.66Mhz), 2GB RAM computer, driving an Nvidia 7950 GX2 SLI video card.I get pretty poor FPS results with FSX and am now thinking of upgrading to a new video card.I've researched the Tom's Hardware site, and the 8800GTX or 9800 range are 'top of the list' as far as FSX is concerned. (My current card is way, way down the list.....)However, I'm not sure that the power supply in my Dell is beefy enough to handle it and it seems that changing the power supply on the Dell isn't an option due to Dell's configuration of plugs and wires being unique to their machines (i.e. not 'generic'.)Has anyone tried this combination with succe…

My other PC specs are C2Q 9550 @ 3.6GHz4Gb RamVista x6422" Samsung @ 1680x1050Can someone tell me if I would notice any improvement in FSX. I don't suppose that I would see a dramatic increase in FPS but would it run smoother or be able to run better at higher graphic settings.Any comments would be welcome.ThanksPhil

Hi - I own an HP M8525F and just purchased a 550 watt power supply as well as Geforce 9800GTX+OC. I looked to upgrade to this combo to increase my frames - needed a better vid card than the GeForce 9300GE that came with the computer. specs: quad cpu Q6700 @ 2.66GHZ, 4GB RAM, GeForce 9300GE After spending an hour hooking up the power supply (and much *@#$%^&), I finally reached the fun part which was to install and try the video card. I unfortunately found out that the card is too long (9"+) and wont clear a couple of connectors located at the back of the tower. Has anyone encountered this with HP computers? Not sure what my option is now... Would there be a sma…

Hey everyone,So I've been spending quite some time trying to tweak FSX for smooth flight on my system. Unfortunately, my 9800GTX+ is not keeping me happy. So I've had enough with it :(I want to be able to fly with smooth FPS (26-30fps) with Very Dense or even Extreme Dense sliders.Should I just go to my local Fry's and pick up an EVGA GTX 260?The price is great, under $200 and when I can afford it, I'll pick up the 1896MB GTX-275 :(I'm on a 24" monitor running 1920x1080 and I feel that my current 9800GTX+ simply isn't suited for FSX under these settings...Some quick thoughts on the GTX-260 (I'm aching to go and get this puppy)There's also the GTX-285 but that card is over…

  16. Just purchased a new 30 inch flatpanel LCD monitor. With my current vid card I can set the resolution to: 2560 x 1600 x 32. This has had quite a positive impact on my simming. Everything was great until I tried the PMDG FS9 747-400 2D. The overhead panel has several sections where what appears to be nite panel views are placed over the panel. The entire aircraft lite section is over top the upper left corner of the overhead and several switches have what appear to be small nite view switches over them. Lowered the resolution and it fixed the issue so I know it has to do with the higher res. This is the only aircraft that I have had this problem with. Problem does not exi…

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747, AMD Turion 64x2 Dual Core TL-56, 2.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM, 200GB HDD with Vista. The default graphics program is ATI.I need help with what I should have the settings set to in the Catalyst Control Center. BTW, I am using FSX. The info I know is that I DO have the most up to date drivers. The card is an ATI Radeon X1200, version of ATI Catalyst Control Center is 2007.0424.2145.36967 .NET Runtime Version 2.0.50727.1434. Can anyone give me a rundown on the settings that I should "enable" "disable" "check" "uncheck" or what certain settings should be set to? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi All.I'm new to this forum but hope I can find some answers/suggestions to my 'tearing' problem. Running FSX SP1 on my Vista 32bit PC with an Nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb graphics card, I have no problems at all with graphics. (I update to the latest drivers for this card from the Nvidia site as soon as they are released). As soon as I install FSX Acceleration (which includes SP2) the graphics become unstable with quite bad horizontal tearing when panning (I normally use Track IR in the 3D cockpit, but the tearing also shows if I use the joystick hat switch to pan.If I uninstall FSX Acceleration(SP2) and revert back to FSX SP1, all is well again with no graphics tearing prob…

Any recommendations for a video card for an old Dell P4 2.8 PCI (not express) PC? Already have an i7 920 with a GTX285 step up on the way and just wanted to max potential with the old P4 machine. The P4 machine currently hasa Radeon 9250 in it and I just wondered if there is something faster/better that I could put in it. The Radeon 9250 will go in an even older machine I usefor playing music. Was thinking about something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130465.But I wonder if there is something faster and better. This machine will be used occasionally by the soon to be 6 year old grandson.Any thoughts appreciated.Dan

So I've got this new problem and wishing that someone here will have an educated answer for me.I currently have an old piece of dirt for a video card, that being the GeForce FX5200 Ultra (128MB) PCI. I believe it is manufactured by BFG. I'm using the latest nVidia drivers. I've noticed that whenever the sim refreshes itself, usually when flying in really dense scenery, mainly some high quality payware airport sceneries, the AA will auto-disable. I don't know of, or changing, a setting that would cause this to happen. The only thing I can figure is that it is something automatic, say when the sim gets below a certain level of FPS. I've messed with all settings within…

Hi,I originally put this in the hardware control forum, but realized it's more suitable here.I own a Samsung Syncmaster 931BF 19" monitor. I'm happy with it.Always wanted another monitor next to it which would display extra sub panels that would clutter the main screen if expanded. For example, I would put the FMC, GPS and maybe weather radar on the second screen.I thought I'd get a smaller 15" monitor as my desktop is not big. But these have disappeared from the market apparently. So would a portable dvd player with a 7 or 9"" screen be an option at all? I can get them pretty cheap, like 75$They come with a usb cable. Is it possible to rig them up as a second monitor?Eytan…

Hi guysI was wondering if there are any X-plane users out there who is using a crossfire-ed ATI GPU? I recently crossfire the Radeon HD4850 and I am having troubles running them in crossfire mode in X-plane. X-plane would hang after start up if I enabled crossfire. If crossfire was disabled, X-plane ran normally.Any idea why is it so?Cheers

I upgraded to a GTX285 video card about 2 months ago and whenever I start analysing or defragging my hard drive using Ultimate Defrag, my screen flickers. Also in FSX the textures in some buildings flicker with partly black textures, for example at DFW and LAX airports. I'm using the latest video driver and I had these problems with previous video drivers. Anyone else with an GTX 285 video card that is experiencing these problems I described with Ultimate Defrag and FSX?

  25. I may need to get a new display since the backlight on this samsung is flickering now for a few minutes at start up. It is a 4:3 display. I would like to see how FSX handles widescreen so post a full shot of a couple of views if you would. It would be much appreciated . . .Also, if you want, respond to the poll survey on which you would rather be simming on widescreen or 4:3. Thanks!Noel
