Got a relativly new PC, not the "latest and greatest" but still runs FSX well. The issue is when I turn anti-aliasing on. I have most all the sliders in FSX to the max, and without anti-aliasing on I regularly get FPS in the 25-35 range when close to the ground. When I turn AA on it turns into a slide show, 5-6 FPS. I have tried checking the box in FSX and changing the settings on the card itself and both have the same effect, the graphics look great but it is a slide show.I figure this is the video card's fault right? The specs:Core 2 duo E8400 3.00Ghz2GB ramSapphire ATI Radeon HD 3650 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 (the PC's PCI-E slot is not 2.0)1 22" LCD monito…

Hi all,I am interested in views / advice as to whether I should get a new videocard or more memory to run FSX on Win XP / 7 system. My system is Win XP / 7 dual boot and I run both FSX and FS9 with a range of commercial addons. I have 2GB RAM, a overclocked E6850 CPU currently running at 3.6Ghz and a PCI X1950 Pro 512MB card.Currently under FSX my system runs with quite a lot of stuttering which I am keen to reduce if possible. The addons I run are Traffic X (airline traffic at 30%) UTX, GEX and REX. I am not trying to run with settings on mad levels, having Autogen at normal. I have turned cars way down in UTX.Thus the question is would it be best to get a new card or ano…

This is what I have now:19" monitor with 1280x1024 resolution, just one monitorFS2004Intel Core 2 Duo @3.0ghz4GB RAMGeForce 9600GT 512MBI'm wondering what is the best card that I can get, which will give me the most performance I can get with high FS settings. I realize that a great graphics card will not make FS that much better, but I also know that the wrong card can really make things a nightmare.

Hi guys, hope this is correct forum. I run FS9 using vista and an nvidia 8500GT graphics card (512MB with 3G of ram) and in over 18 months I have never resolved the Shimmer Issue. All my add on aircraft shimmer when I pan out to view them and certain things like fences in my scenery. I've tried every driver possible, every CFG config and every enhanser setting known to man!! I do not suffer with frame rates and have All sliders to max!I've read every forum on this matter and still no joy. Please give a magic formula :( Fox

Greetings all,Well after getting a "new" 9800GT 512Meg, and installing the latest drivers from Nvidia...I am having some issues with both FSX and FS9. First, System:Dell XPS 400, 4 Gig Ram, Windows XP (SP3), Dual Core 2.4Ghz, only use system for FS. FSX - Extreemly stuttery, even with sound turned off and most sliders leftish....10 percent traffic, no cars or boats.... FS9 - Runs smooth, but shimmery, and I cannot for the life of me get any AA! This is both Full Screen and Windowed. I run both in 32 bit, same settings as monitor. I have Nhancer, and would love to get some beginner settings for both...also, Im wondering, if it's a driver issue, where do most folks sto…

I bought a new rig yesterday and ever since havent been able to play fsx. I think my gfx card to be the problem.Upon starting my computer all seems to be ok on the desktop until tiny scattered black/white blocks start to appear on my lcd. Then after random amount of time the display freezes explorer dont work, the mouse still moves for a few seconds until it freezes too. the cpu keeps functioning for another few seconds (The numlock light responds with a 5-7 seconds lag).by trial I am able to figure out that whenever the card gets the slightest of load, blocks appear on screen (sometimes corrupting image) then it hangs. lowering to 1024x768 allows me to use windows with l…

I am still new to FSX but not to flight simulation but am having difficulty getting nHancer to kick in and get rid of my jaggies and all of that sort of stuff (including AF). I used nHancer successfully with FS9. I am using the very latest drivers on Nvidia website for my 8800 GTS 320. Is there a known driver issues with nHancer and FSX? Are there any other recommendations? Thanks,RH

I have just begun using FSX with SP2. I have a system built around an Intel 8400, 4 GB of RAM, and Windows XP. I recently overclocked the CPU to 4Ghz with underwhelming results. Yes, there seems to be a few FPS increase but not much.I have my videocard settings at 1600x1200. My videocard is a couple of years old and is a Nvidia 8800 GTS 320Mb. My question is, to what degree is my videocard holding my CPU back in terms of overall performance? Can it properly handle the 4Ghz info thrown at it from the CPU?If it is holding me back, what do you suggest I upgrade to in terms of the best bang for the buck for performance (framerates, smoothness...). What kind of performance imp…

XFX ATI 4890 @ 1000MHz vs. BFG GTX 285 @ 702MHz. Both cards are overclocked by the factory, not by me.Catalyst drivers version 9.60.Forceware drivers version 185.85.Clean installation of Win7RC and FSX, no add ons, all figures are FPS measured by FRAPS in benchmark mode (and tabulated in Excel to identify the median and mode) on a 160 second recorded flight over Manhattan in a Bell helicopter with absurdly high settings (see Mike's earlier post) including light bloom, ground scenery shadows, water 2.x high, all traffic at 35%, resolution at 1920x1020 and so on, and with FSX controlling AA and AF:Fair weather:ATI 4890: 14 minimum, 19.65625 average, 27 maximum, 19 median, 1…

Hi AllBeen using FS2004 since it came out. Goes very well considering my set up; Processor 1.8 AMD, Grahics card Asus 65 mg memory 1.25 RAM.Pretty basic eh? System is now beginning to creak a bit. I don't have much cash to upgrade but am considering AMD athlon x2 64 bit dualcore 7750. 4 gig memory etc. But the card is a Geforce 6150 onboard & i suspect this may be bad news for the sim. Do i need to add a dedicated graphics card & can you recommend a reasonable priced one? More details available for my intended system if you need them.Cheers Rod H

I have an ATI 4850 which has run with out problems for 6 months. During the last few days I have had three FS9 crashes - one after running for 1 hour and two after 4-5 hours. Symptoms are:FS9 shuts downA windows message refers to a ATI2vg error, says that windows could not communicate with the graphics card/driver and tells me to save my work and reboot. From the display, windows has obviously reverted to the most basic graphics mode possible without using the ATI driver. When I reboot, the system starts as normal and all graphics indications are good.Different ATI drivers have no affect and I have checked that all fans etc are clean and working correctly. Also, a search …

Hi all,I was wondering if anyone has had this problem with the Nvidia GeForce 6200. It's an AGP and it's 256 MB. This is the problem I have with this video card: When I load flight simulator, it flickers or the screen goes dark a split second a few times when it's loading. I already increase the refresh rate or the vertical scan rate to 75 or 85 and it still does the same thing. I downloaded the latest drivers and it was no better. As a matter of fact, it was a little worse. After installing the latest drivers, there would be streaks going across my screen as I was flying along. I also called tech support and they had me to download another driver that was in their archiv…

Recently run into a problem with my graphics card (Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX). After about 20 minutes in FS9, the screen starts changing colours rapidly, panel sections move about, textures are replaced with random textures (ie AI aircraft textures being displayed as ground textures), text becomes unreadable etc. Even after shutting FS9 down, the flashing and artifacts continues. Even if you restart the computer, you can still see them. You can tell when the graphics drivers are loaded, as the windows logo starts to display artifacts during booting. On occasion, a BSOD appears with nv4_disp locked in an infinite cycle. Searching the internet suggests this is not an isolated…
