Recently I have replaced my GeForce 7950 GX2 with a GeForce 9800 GT graphics card.Ever since I installed the new graphics card, I'm getting corrupt textures in FS2004. I have already downloaded the most recent drivers from Nvidia. But this doesn't solve the problem.I start at a default airport with the PMDG 737/747 (e.g. at MMUN), and just sit and wait for about 5 minutes on the runway without doing or touching anything, when suddenly the textures get corrupt. See the attached screenshots. I already fiddled with the settings of the graphics card, but I have no idea which setting is causing these problems. If anyone knows which setting I have to change, or which setting is …

Hi AllTried new ForceWare 190.15 from www.guru3d.com (tweaked and beta!!) today. I found that this driver have a better image quality and the same performance as 182.50 (witch is/was the best driver so far).nHancer 2.5.1 runs perfect with the new driver. For those who using RivaTuner do not install this driver as version 2.24 does not support ForceWare 190.15.I use a GTX280 GPU.Regards

Hello,Do I go for 1GB or 2GB on a GPU? Thinking about eVGA 285 FTW, only one available now in Austria is the 1GB one... but I saw FSX going on 99% on my VRam yesterday on my 8800GT 512MB.Basically I have a choice:EVGA e-GeForce GTX 285 FTW, 1024MB GDDR3, 2x DVI, TV-out, PCIe 2.0 400

I built a new PC a few months ago and bought a large 30" monitor at the same time. I have a 3Ghz Quad Core (hope to overclock sometime), 4GB DDR3 RAM, 850W PSU and three frequently defragged HDs, one each for OS (Vista 64-bit), FSX Acceleration and the last for Scenery. Its widely recognised that the CPU provides the most number crunching for FSX, not the GPU. For that reason I did a lot of reading around and settled on a mid-range 9800 GTX+ 512Mb GPU.Having flown with this system for a few months I've realised that my limiting factor is my screen and GPU combination. The screen resolution is 2560 x 1600, which I'm loath to reduce! I like to get as much peripheral vision …

According to the release note for Catalyst 9.6, the new drivers bring performance improvements of up to 30% when framerates are CPU-limited:http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/Catalyst_96_release_notes.pdfFSX isn't on their very short list, but it would certainly qualify as CPU-limited in terms of framerate...Anyone try them with FSX, X-Plane or some other CPU-limited sim? I'm away from home until thursday so I can't check...Since FSX has traditionally performed much more poorly on ATI cards than Nvidia cards it would be interesting to see if the new drivers at least close the gap somewhat.

G'day I posted back in the old temp forums 1 time about poor FPS after getting a i7 920 that was not overclocked using 7800GTX x2 SliToday i got myself a grinward 285GTX 1gb card and no real change to FSX at all and i still have the same problems spikes i started to get when i used Nhaner and the tune up guide, Nick's Tune Up guide. The spikes started to happen as soon as i used Nhaner with the 7800GTX cards and i have also seen my FPS have dropped way off as well. Using fraps i could easy hit 150fps with most settings maxed out. Now with the 285GTX im getting same spikes and im lucky to hit 60fps that with all weather set to fine and clear. Flying over NYC with aerosoft …

I just tried to set up three 24" monitors in a wrap-around fashion using FSX on a Windows Vista 64 bit system, using two, identical, high-end graphics cards installed (I think they were something like a Nvidia Gforce GTX 285?). Also a high-end Quad core CPU, 6 gig RAM.I read a few threads here on how this should be done:1. Using Control Panel add the 2nd and 3rd monitor displays so as to be one seamless view. Worked ok.2. While in FSX using the '[' key, create a new view and make it a separate window. Ok, no problem.3 Drag it over to one of other monitors and resize. Ok, I did that and looked ok but the minute I dragged the window over to the monitor it went black. A…

I have earlier used Win XP and have no experience of Vista. Now I have built a new system and installed Windows 7 RC.When setting up things what should I think about? For example I find no NVIDIA controlpanel to set up the videocard in Win 7. So I have not been able to set it up as in Win XP.After installing FS9 and the 9.1 update I only got some 40 fps in the default KSEA flight. Isn't that low for this systemAMD X2 6000+4 Gb RAM PC6400NVIDIA 8800GT 512M DDR3

Good afternoon everonye. I was searching the web today when I came accross a utillity called ATITrayTools. I had heard about it before, but I didn't download it becuase I used to have an nVidia card. This utility has many options to tweak your ATi card, change your autofan, change anti aliasing setting, force vsync, enable filters and special shaders and much more. If you have an ATi card, I recommend you download this.TO GET ATITRAYTOOLS TO WORK ON A 64-BIT PC: Do NOT install ATiTrayTools yet Save your work, and restart your PC Keep pressing F8 constantly after the POST (If you don't know what the POST is, just keep pressing F8 repetedly) When the Windows boot options c…

Hello there,I just tweaked up my system following Nick_N guide for FSX. I have to say that the improvement in quality and FPS was amazing, thanks Nick for posting it!Since then, however, I'm experiencing BSOD after 20 minutes or so in the sim. Error messages vary each time, the last one was 0x100000d1 (0x062e5794, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xba009c0f)Before applying the tweaks everything was running fine, with lower video quality of course.Any ideas on the problem anyone?Actual configuration is:- Core2 E6600- 3x1GB DDR2-800 - Asus P5K mainboard (P35 chipset)- Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 640MB- 22" LCD monitor running at 1680x1050- 250GB maxtor system HD- HD WD Raptor for sims -…

As the topic says, what is the best proven driver version for fsx that improves performance but is not buggy? Is there a generally accepted one? I have 275 GTX with 182.42 driver.

I've had some graphics breakups while running FSX with some heavy duty aircraft,e.g. Level d,PMDG.I ran the Furmark stress test and it indicated a max temperature of 121 degrees C after about 15 minutes. The fan is running correctly and increases speed with temperature increase.I noticed that the fps on the test dropped to around 15.I'm currently using a standard PSU which came with the puter but have an extra PSU which I could install if necessary.I would like to know if anyone has used furmark test with the same card andwhat sort of results they got.Any suggestions welcomeRon

Hi . I am newbie. Tried to search in the forum but it took too long to find the answer that I want.I have FSX and I have dual CRT 19" monitors and spanned both display as one. And it works fine but...I am considering to buy 3 LCD monitors with willing to span all monitors as one view.So which is the best: 3 normal (4:3) LCD monitors or 3 widescreen LCD monitors?Would widescreen monitors get the spanned (across 3 monitors) view distorted?I have Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb SLi so I will need another graphics card in order to use 3 display units (monitors)My colleague said why not buy one widescreen for the centre and two normal (4:3) monitors - one each side.I am a bit worried abo…

It seems lately everytime I run FSX I eventually get strange scenery effects like poles in the sky, huge gray areas, etc. When I refresh the scenery everything is OK but eventually the weird effects return. Sometimes a little window opens up breifly which has the term "VPU" and my hard drive spins like crazy!! I checked the event viewer and sometimes there is an error called ATI2MTAG. The error suggests I should update my drivers. I am using an ATI Radeon X1900GT card with version 8.4 drivers. I use XP SP3. I cleaned out the inside of my PC and made sure all my fans were working. I also made sure all cards were secure and connections were OK. I also use FS9 with…

I have just begun using FSX with SP2. I have a system built around an Intel 8400, 4 GB of RAM, and Windows XP. I have my videocard settings at 1600x1200. My videocard is a couple of years old and is a Nvidia 8800 GTS 320Mb. My question is, to what degree is my videocard holding my FSX experience back? I know the CPU is what is most important in running FSX but that the videocard does contribute up to 25% of obtained performance. If it is holding me back, what do you suggest I upgrade to in terms of the best bang for the buck for performance (framerates, smoothness...). What kind of performance improvement could I (or others in my situation) expect? Thanks,RH

My nVidia 8800GT 512mb has a problem. The cooling fan sometimes decides to work & sometimes doesn't. My very temporary answer is to remove the side case & blow a large domestic fan straight at the graphics card which seems to be working. The question is simple. Do I spend money replacing the fan with a custom cooler - plus cooling paste etc & it might be a board rather than a fan fault - or do I buy a new graphics card?I am not sure how far I can go without buying a new power supply etc which I do not want to do.Cooling and replacement nVidia & ATi suggestions are all welcome. If I replace the card am I likely to see any difference in FSX performance? Dell X…
