I have a very old video card and I'm going to change it soon. I don't want the new one to be too costy so I think I will choose the 9600GSO, but I would like to ask about the performance of this video card in FS before I pay my money. Any suggestions are also welcomed.

Although it happens rarely, it's really boring and irritating to encounter that sort of problem almost everytime in the middle of some important tasks, regardless of using FS, my computer is locked up and crashes instantly and my screen specks, as for the rest of the operation as what i am expected to do is to restart the computer from the reset button with a fine edged pencil.Having restarted the computer, i get the message from Windows which is:STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_MBrand of my video card is: Ati Radeon HD 4800 SeriesIn the attachment will you be able to find 2 screen shots for the error messages i …

I'm about to fire away with my new PC order but before that I want to ask a question that'll save me $15. Is there going to be any performance gain between the 280 and 285? I'm hearing from my PC maker guy it's 10-15% but FSX is a funny animal as we all know. The 10,000lb Gorilla as Nick says.

There sure are alot of complaints about CTDs with the new nvidia 181.20 drivers. Myself included. However, I did find a solution for myself that might help others....I use Rivatuner v2.09. I only use it to crank up the fans on my 9800GX2. However, upon looking for the CTD solution with these 181.xx drivers, I came across an important tidbit. Apparently to avoid these CTDs with driver 181.20 using RivaTuner, you must get the newer ver 2.22. Reason being because of what it says under the heading: WHAT'S NEW when u go to the RivaTuner website http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner:- "Added ForceWare 181.xx drivers family support"- "Updated databases for Detonator an…

In another forum, BERT asked a question on this subject and requested some pics to explain the effect of ensuring that all monitors in a multiple mon setup, are at right angles to the pilot's eyes..Hope these illustrate the point.Alex ReidChart showing the narrowing of the view with a monitor (green) not square to one's eyes. Note how the "object" is moved inwards, and total view width is reduced when the left mon is positioned in line with main mon. (red mons are @ 90

Anyone running a GFX 260, using dual monitors that have different resolutions? Vista/W7/XP?I've been told that the new generation of Nvidia cards don't handle this very well. So far my experience in FSX has proved that. My old video card, GS7600 ran this same setup for years and years without a hiccup.Just wondering if anyone else has had troubles with this.

I've had this problem for quite a while now so I'm turning to the experts here at AVSIM as I am now becoming frustrated. My monitor automatically changes resolution without any input from me. I have it set for 1680x1050 and it changes to 1440x900 which causes FS9 to shutdown. The monitor is the 22" LG L226WTQ and the video card is G-force 8600 OC and I have 2g's of memory.Sometimes the change occurs a couple of times in a day or not for a few days or week or more. In other words, it is not consistant in time nor with any particular program. Can happen at any time and any program.Ideas anyone???Thanks for any suggestions. I will check on the driver and for any updates.Jim D…

Hi,I had to install my OS all new over again. So, I decided to install Vista home premium 32bit.I have a AMD X2 socket 939 with 2GHz for each core. 3GB DDR1 400MHz and a AGP Nvidia GF7600 with 512MB and 4 x SATA drives.Befor I had FS9.1 running at WinXP pro 32bit and it did not stutter, just had a performance of about 3 to 6 fps when being ground at a 3.party airport like GAP EDDH or alike with lots of AI, terrain etc. and ASA for real weather. Now ith Vista I have about the same fps performance, but with a lot of stutter - every AI a/c and moving airport objects does not move, it jumps from stutter to stutter throu the view, no matter which view I use.Is this because o…

Hi,I currently have a 512mb card (8800GT OC), which I am considering a 1 gig card. So much out there I just get lost. I do not use SLI, although the system can use them. I am running an LGA775 socket MB.I am really happy with this Video card, but I think the extra memory would help.Any help would be much appreciated.RegardsBob

I now have a NVIDIA 7950GT 512M AGP and I see that on the paper the ATI 3850 AGP is a better card. But I have also heard that ATI is bad about rendering clouds. How can a videocard be bad for such a specific task as cloudrendering. I also experience problems with nvidia graphics driver both in FSX and other games like COH. Could a ATI driver be better than the NVIDIA cards? If I would try a 3850 which driver would be best to use? I use the 181.22 NVIDIA driver? Because of my rather old system stated below FS9 is my main simulator but I do have FSX SP1+UTX USA+GEX+FSGenesis mesh+ some addonplanes installed and use them occasionally.AMD 64 4000+ OC 2.6 GHz2 Gb PC3200 RAMNVI…

Hi,I've just bought a Packard Bell Imedia for general use and the limited amount of time I have for flightsimming. Its a better spec computer than my old machine which used to run FSX at around 18-20fps.On this I barely get 5fps, is it something I've got setup wrong or is the graphics card not up to the job?Intel Core 2 Quad 82004gb DDR2NVidia Geforce 7100Windows Vista Premium

I'm considering doing an upgrade to my graphics card. Currently I have a 7000GT 256MB and was thinking of going for the 9600GT. I know I could go for something even better but I don't really want to spend too much. CPU is Intel E6600 and I have 2GB of RAM. Would the FPS improvement in FSX be worth it? I also use a TH2go set up.

Hi,Well finally I've decided to break ranks and find out what all the fuss is about!Being a loyal ATI user for many years this culture change won't be easy for me, but I'm hoping some of you can help smooth the ride.My Antec P150 tower restricts me somewhat in that I have to choose a card that is not too long and a week or so back, following some research, I managed to source and purchase an XFX nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 500M 640MB which is a PCIE x16 compatible card, the latter being important for my tried and trusted MoBo (ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 ( with AM2CPU Board). The price was very reasonable and considering the difficulty I had locating one in the UK they must now be q…

I have a GTX 280 and I run Vista 64. My main monitor is a BenQ projector. Today I added a Pyle 9.2" touchscreen monitor to use for the FMC on the video card's second output.I cannot get it to work correctly. I can see the desktop and move my mouse across the screen. When I launch FSX, I get a blue screen on the touchscreen that reads "Out of Range". I believe this little monitor is only 480x234 resolution. I can;t get the NVidia control panel to show below 800x600 and when I rotate it to portrait, it says that I must be at 1024x768.I don't know enough about this to fix it and the Pyle people are useless. I have read that I need to run "multi-monitor" in FSX and possibly c…

Hi al. Does anyone know how to fix the shimmering/flickering of runway/taxiway intersections? dx10 is gorgeous but this is really annoying. I have a brand new 9800GT XXX for XFX and it copes really well with FSX but is this a card problem or dx10/fsx problem?

While gathering updates for my FSX-rig yesterday, I noticed a new version of NHancer (v2.4.5) has been recently released. Also, Nvidia has updated the WHQL drivers to v181.22. Although I've installed the new Nhancer version I haven't had a chance to try it yet.Regards,

Just cleaned out the former nV drivers for my 8800GT, driver cleaner'ed, reboot, installed latest nV WHQL for a new 280GTX. Rechecked for all on NickN's tweaks intact and current, defragged and rebooted a couple times: can't get rid of stutters. I understand the 280GTX is not a true asset for FSX over my former wonder card, but this is not good. I'm at a loss of what to look at. It's stable, frames are ok, but herky jerky sucks wind. I've tried unlimited and locked frames, both tend to stutter. Nice to have the better perf in other games, but this has got to go. Tried bufferpools of different size, no real help. IQ is fine, as is frames. It's just a bit herky je…

I would appreciate comments as to whether this would be a worthwhile change on my system. The 285 is several generations newer than the 8800 GTX and the specs seem to indicate a substantial performance gain.I know that FSX is CPU bound but my last two upgrades (E8500 then i7) have not brought the performance improvement I expected. I wondered if the last two systems were no longer CPU boung but graphics bound. Note that the 3840 x1024 of the TH2GO does cause a substantial burden on the graphics card which may not manifest itself at lower resolutions.

Hi all from Jim. I am building a new system for FSX, I have the ASUS Maximus Extreme mother board,Running on Vista 64 bit OS with a Q9650 quad core FSB: 1333MHz L2 Cache: 12MB which will be over clocked with water cooling,in a Cooler master 830 case. Should I go with a single graphics card,or would dual cards be better? Also could someone recommend the best RAM? Thank's again!
