I have a home built flight simulator cockpit that has a 4 monitor setup (3 monitors for external display and 1 monitor for the instrument panel). My present setup uses 2 video cards and I am running Windows XP...not using the TH2Go. I have customized the 2D external and panel views in FSX. I'm planning to have a new PC built shortly which will be running Vista (64 bit) and two nVidia GTX 285 2GB cards. I've heard rumors of issues with multiple monitor setups in Vista, namely not being able to use both outputs on a card. Does anyone have any information on whether or not this is an issue? Thanks!

I read somewhere here in the forums that FSX does not work with Nvidia SLI. Is the same true for FSX and ATI Crossfire? If this is true then there is no point to having dual video cards for FSX?I'm looking to upgrade in the upcoming months and dual ATI cards with Crossfire was one of my options but if it doesn't work for FSX, then there's no point for me to do it.

Hi, I run 2 EVGA 9800GTX 512mb in SLI mode. I know SLI does not help FSX. If I got one of the newer 2gb cards would that help FSX frame rates? I have a Q9550 cpu now. 8gb of ramGreg

Hello fellow simmersIt has been made clear to me (by an beta tester of theres) that ATI do not consider FSX to be worthy of any kind of driver tweaks from there dev teamthis is a shame as ATI lag behind Nv by about -33% on like for like systems and like for like settinghttp://www.tomshardware.co.uk/radeon-hd-48...w-31433-22.htmlI have found this dip in performance on my own system when moving to ATI finding the 4870 tobe somewhat slower than my old 8800gts even after lower settings(in any other game it flys but not FSX!)It seems that ATI dont think simmers money is worth the same as that of the FPS crowd and while i understand the limitations of FSX and its CPU boundness …

I can't take it anymore, I recently purchased an EVGA GTX285 SSC for my FS system and have had nothing but dll errors in both Fs9 and FSX. With Fs9 I can do short flights but anything over 2 hours always ends in a g3d.dll error on approach. With FSX its a little more random, sometimes I can go an hour sometimes 15 minutes and the errors vary from terrain.dll to panels.dll. I've tried all different locations and AC it just always goes wrong!!!!!I've deleted both config files and let them rebuild, I've tried the 182.50 & 181.20 drivers & I've completly reinstalled FSX twice and FS9. I've checked for heat issues haven never broke 55c on the card! the CPU stays around…

I know this has been discussed in some detail in the past and many simmers have indicated FSX does not run any faster or better in SLI mode and it's just a waste of money, etc., etc. I am a bit confused though in that my secondary 8800GTX crashed on me a month or so ago and I had to remove it and run my system with just one 8800GTX until I could get a replacement. I run 3DMark Vantage as a benchmark for my system and usually run it whenever there are driver updates or system updates just to see if things have improved or not. What I don't understand is the fact that I get a benchmark of 13918 when running my system in SLI mode but only 7843 (almost 50% less) when runni…

I have installed Windows 7 RC on a new system. I would need to replace the current video card driver. Doing so in Win XP was a complicated process including safe modes and using Drivercleaner Pro. Is it easier in Win 7? Can I just uninstall the old driver and run the installer for the desired driver? How do you do it in Vista?

  8. Anyone have some advice about how smooth FSX is with a 9800GT 512mb videocard and a 9800GT 512mb videocard?I've currently got an 8500GT inside and it's okay but can't run DX10 without stutters... I have the 9800GT here but need to get a new power supply in the morning...I had to go for the 9800GT because it was the only high end card available here in the Philippines in the entire city, an 8800GTX was not feasible and other high end cards aren't available either...

  9. If you are in the market for a really high quality display at a super low cost, this is it. It's using an e-IPS panel, has superb color uniformity and 178 degree viewing angles, is plenty fast at 5ms, and is built well with a solid and very adjustable stand. 1680 x 1050 is its native resolution. Controls are easy to use. It's only weakness is does not do 1:1 scaling. Has a widescreen and 4:3 option if desired though. I am still considering a 1920 x 1200 display and would love to have this resolution version of this Dell I'm using now. That would be the no-brainer from heaven for sure. This Dell is available to your door for under $230. A true steal!Noel

Hi there,I am experiencing a problem with my installation of Flight Simulator. My system details are: FS2004, with 9.1 update, Vista Home Premium SP1 x64 bit, i7 920 CPU (with HyperThreading disabled) and nVidia GeForce 9800GTX+. I run a single-monitor setup - a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW at 1920x1200 connected using DVI interface. Basically I have noticed that if I try to "move" any panel, be it the overhead, main, etc... Instantly the screen goes black and I get "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to this problem" (which it does not find), and I have to click close which brings my simming to an abrubt halt!! I was …

  11. I am imagining there is a maximum playable response time for an LCD for it to be considered "good enough" from the standpoint of response time being fast enough. What is that level for typical modern FSX users and that is also adequate for titles such as COD: Modern Warfare, or Crysis?I am interested in getting a screen with better viewing angle (at least 170/170) than you see with most fast response time screens. Thanks in advance. It seems the really nice 178/178 screens have response times around 16ms, which at one time, was considered ok for action gaming. I don't think games have gotten faster per se, though monitors have.To cut to the chase: I'm looking for 21-2…

  16. Hi Guys, I'm running the Windows 7 beta. I have an ATI 4870 1GB graphics card and the latest W7 9.4 drivers. I can't get VSync to work in FSX without using D3D Overrider and FSX DX10 mode. This is not satisfactory because of the faults in DX10 that become more and more obvious and annoying the longer I use it.Has anyone had any problems getting VSync to work under W7 with nVidia cards, or is this just an issue with ATI cards? Thanks,Noel.

All,Since this is my first post I'll follow proper etiquette and introduce myself. My name is Ryan Cunningham and I've been playing flight sims since I was pretty young. I'm now a 2nd Lt Marine flight student currently in Primary flying the mighty T-34C. I downloaded the Alphasim T-34C for FSX in an attempt add some realism to my chairflying and feel that there is a definite benefit. However, I've run into a bit of an issue. While I have no problems running FSX on my laptop, issues arise when I attempt to hook it up to my tv in the living room. I start the game and the tv remains in 1080 when I have the HDMI chord connected, however, once the actual game starts running, i.…

Well, I've reinstalled FSX and tweaked with all I can do, OC'd my Q6600 as far as I can, (3.4), and I'm flying the Mustang at 24 fps real nice EXCEPT IN RAIN. The stutters in rain are pronounced. I've installed 256 clouds to try to help but still a lot of stutter. It seems Nick thinks there is nothing that I can do, as my CPU doesn't have enough throughput to use a GTX 285 and the GTX 260 is no better than my 8800 GTX. In the old days, (FS 2002), moving to a wider data path helped in the clouds. Why not now? Why not a GTX 285?Kdub

  19. I just bought a Dell 2209WA and it is really a lovely panel. Very uniform brightness & color--just top notch. Not quite as sharp as my .255 pixel pitched 1600 x 1200 Samsung, but it's really very nice. The problem is--it doesn't do 1600x1200, and that is a resolution I much prefer for TW2004 which I use alot--as much or more than FSX, for many years now. This title is not supported for widescreen resolutions, so it will default to 1280 x 1024 which really looks both not as clean and too small on the new Dell 1680 x 1050 screen. Had a 4:3 1600 x 1200 Samsung that was just right for that title. I'm trying to decide between picking up another 4:3 1600 x 1200 scre…

  20. My Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA 22" 1600x1050 LCD arrived. All's perfect and as advertised, but I'm not too happy with widescreen in this particular native resolution. I also use Tiger Woods PGA golf a lot, and with my former Samsung 204B 1600 x 1200 4:3 display, I could enjoy superior IQ and at 1600 x 1200. My new Dell can't do this, which I failed to consider prior to my purchase, so the game defaults to 1280 x 1024. Plus, quite frankly, it will take some getting used to--the wide aspect version of FSX. I don't like it right off the bat. I hope it's mostly a case of getting used to it.Anyway, I had planned to move this on to my honey who is in need of a new display, i…

This has been a hard problem to try to figgure out so I have just been living with it. I have a new 3-26 inch LCD monitor setup with a new computer that has three video cards; one for each LCD monitor. I 'm using a "wireless" Microsoft mouse. Sometimes I receive a "message" that the receiption of the mouse signal strengten is "low" then the message will go away. I start a flight using the B-200 King Air with a LEFT, Center and Right views on three differant monitors. Most of the time I leave the mouse "pointer" in the CENTER monitor and most of the time I don't have this problem and then again I do.... it comes and goes, at will.
