Hi Guys,Could someone explain to me how to set up a span view in Vista.Using Vista 64 with FSX and 8800GT dual head card with 180 series nvidia driver installed. My problem is with both monitors connected to the one card (LG 22" and Samsung 15"), I don't see any options in Nvidia control panel to set up a dual (span) view.I can drag an FSX panel to the smaller monitor but don't see a way to span the two monitors. Is that a limitation of Vista, video card, driver, possibly the different size monitors? Thanks.

Hello All,I have been thinking about getting a second monitor for FSX. I borrowed a friends old 15" CRT monitor the other day, just to fool around with a two monitor set-up. I have an nVivdia 8800GTX card, so I just plugged the old monitor into the second DVI on the card. Changed settings in the nVidia control panel for two monitors (Dualview), and it seemed to work fine. I could undock and drag windows (like the gps, throttle quad, etc.) over to the CRT, no problem. What I couldn't do, however, was stretch the main VC view across both screens. What I'm after is the Triple Head 2 Go panoramic effect, just with 2 screens instead of 3. Is this possible just coming ou…

  3. Hi guys, i just another 24 inch monitor and a dual head unit. I am wondering if there is any tips for setting up and using to its best advantage?I have noticed that the text on screen on both monitors is now slightly blurred for example, just enough to annoy you. Do you need to use any special settings to avoid this? I am using 1920 x 1200 on both monitors. My FPS also seems to have halved, but i guess this is to be expected, yes? All tips gratefully received!!thx, Mark

I posted a question like this in the FS9 forum but have not received a solution that is working as of yet. So I thought I might try a similar question here in case someone else knows the solution.I'm running a Radeon 4870X2 in 1920x1200 and in High Color mode, (not True Color). My monitor is a Syncmaster 243T and the refresh rate is set to 75hz. The system is having refresh issues that manifest in 3 places and seem to exhibit the same behavior...namely, FS9 dialog windows are loosing their bitmaps. For instance, if I press F10 to display the kneeboard, it will appear for a second and then a complete screen refresh occurs and the screen goes black. When the display comes ba…

  7. hi all,i was wondering if the nvidia 8600gt on my system is the bottleneck preventing me from acheiving higher framerates?my system specs are:Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 @ 3.0GHZNvidia 8600gt 256mb with 190.62 driver4gb DDR2-1066 RamWestern Digital 500GB Caviar BlackWindows 7 64-bitFSX Accelerationi follwed NickN's guide and tuned my system. my harddisk is defragged too. in the Virtual Cockpit of the PMDG 747 and flying around KLAX, i can only acheive around 13.5 FPS. The weird thing is that I can get the same fps in both fine and stormy weather. Setting the traffic from 0 to 75% does not seem to have an effect on the fps too. autogen level has no effect too. Is this because m…

  8. Hello EveryoneAccording into my specs, is it worth to upgrade from an nvidia 8600gt into a Gtx 275 or into an HD4870? Will I notice some diferences running fsx?Currently I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 Ghz and 4gb ddr2 -800, I have Windows 7 x64bits... I run FSX at 15/17 fpswith some enhancements in the fsx.cfg but it gets worst if I go to detailed sceneries or if I put detailed clouds... Is it worth to upgrade my graphics? If so, wich do you recommend, the Gtx 275 or the HD4870?Thanks everyone!

I am using Nvidia card, gtx 285, after using ATI for so many years.I installed driver 190.38 with no problems. I installed NHANCER 2.5.1. Everything seemed to be ok. However, when I run 2.5.1, it opens up and closes instantly with no indication that it has done anything. I understand an XML file is generated, it was NOT. Am I missing something? Is there an extra step I should take?Appreciate any help. Thanks.Abe

  11. Hello,I'm trying to decide on a card for a new system. I read in the forums that I shouldn't do the GTX 295 because it has two chips and is basically SLI which is useless for FSX.I see that EVGA has a 1MB and a 2MB GTX 2852MBhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E168141304961MBhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130484Is the 2MB version worth the extra $80? I don't mind paying the $ as long as there is some benefit. I am looking at a I7-950 and 6 GB of DDR3 1600, CL6. To me, I thinking extra video memory can't be bad but with all the intricacies of hardware and FSX, I just want to be sure my thinking is straight. In addition, if I don't but the…

Those upgrading to the latest 190.62 drivers should know that Nhancer will not work with those. If you stay with these, uninstall Nhancer until an update is released. As for the 190.62 drivers themselves, performance wise they are about the same with FSX on my GTX 260 as the 190.38's (with Nhancer)

The latest driver for NVIDIA 190.38 doesn't seem to do much to improve frame rates, but in DirectX 10 I got a flash of progressive taxi when I turned it on. Then it disappeared. Never seen that before. One day it may stay on.I get less stutter in DX10 than with the previous version.

I have been starting to look at a multiple display set-up and have noticed all the manufactures seem to be moving to the wide-screen format. I would think this could add distortion to panels in FS2004 even more than the typical "oval" gauges I read about. I was originally looking at 24" but now it looks like I would need a newer 27" wide-screen to match the sae "floorspace", sort of speak. And the larger wide-screen monitors have the same resolution specs as smaller ones so would that mean things are just getting bigger, not sharper?Anybody using these in FS2004/FSX? What's your opinions? Also, are "glossy" displays sharper than the matte type versions? Would like to g…

Recently all of my default aircraft somehow got blurry on the outside view at any zoom level. Actual gauges themselves and the 2d panel were not blurred but the interior VC background and the exterior model of the a/c looked terrible. This coincided with downloading XP service pack 3 and also updating CCC and the ATI driversI searched through several forums, utilized the google and followed the advice available, which was:1. make sure that global texture resolution was maxed or one notch below max.2. make sure that display resolution was equal to or worse than the native resolution of the desktop.3. set the display AA settings to anisotropic and AA checked.4. set the gr…

Hi guys looking for some advice here. I'm currently in the process of looking for part for a new build in the next few weeks or so and I've decide on an i7 920 based machine. However, I cannot decide what video card would be best for me. The two cards that I have chosen are the GTX 275 and GTX 285, both from BFG. The 275 is the OCX edition and the 285 is the new OCFU edition. The clocks on these two cards are as follows:BFG GTX 275 OCX Core: 709MHz, Memory: 2484MHz, Shader: 1566MhzBFG GTX 285 OCFU Core: 712MHz, Memory:2664MHz, Shader: 1620MHzI will be running a Dell S2409W 24" monitor at 1920 x 1080 and Flight Simulator X, so what do you guys recommend???Thanks,Ross.

I recently purchased a new HP Quadcore 8200 processor at 2.3/core & 8 g ram with a GeForce 9500GS 512 mb card. FX runs really well with very few stutters with most sliders at 1/2 to 3/4. I know the video card that came with the machine is not the greatest and I'd like to push the sliders further for the eye candy. I have no desire to overclock anything which I understand I can't do with an OEM anyway and I don't want to have to change the 350W power supply as the computer is really great and used for a lot of things other than FX. So any recommendations for a card under $200? Thanks in advance. I,m using Vista Home Premium 64.

for those of you that use wide screen monitors and the TH2Go i have a question. i am looking to replace 3 15" monitors with 3 19" ones. widescreen monitors seem to be going a bit less expensice then 4:3 ones. i was thinking of going with the 4:3 for one reason tough- the TH2Go will make the 3 of them widescreen anyway so do i really need 19 widescreen monitors, wont it be too wide? would love to hear from anybody that has experience with both set up's especially.thanks, Kyle

Hello,Recently I upgraded my system to an i7, 6GB Tri-channel DDR3 RAM, and a GTX260. The only thing letting it down is the GTX260, sadly, as I want it for FSX. It runs FS9 fine, 40fps solid, any aircraft, anywhere. No matter what setting I max out, the FPS refuse to come down from the clouds (pardon the pun). However FSX is a different story, and the fact that I'm looking for a new card kind of tells it's own story. So after much research and reading, I decided that a 4890 would be a good card, however many people report problems with clouds and ATI cards, but other say it's absolutely fine. The GTX 285 is just within my budget, but for the price of one of those, I could …

  25. Please scroll down to the bottom of this post for my system specs. I have been having a video issue when running FSX either windowed or full screen in Vista 32 SP1 with a GeForce 9600GT. What happens is that after a while ( any where from 5 to 30 minutes of flying) both monitors go black without warning, and the sound begins to revirberate like a cheap motor bike. It kind of reminds me of the engine sound made by the Cessna in FS3 (OK I know that I am dating myself here). The only cure when this happens is to shut down the system and reboot. When I reboot I get the typical "Windows was not shut down normally" message and the option to restart Windows normally or safe mode…
