Hi guys. I currently own a Sapphire X1900GT video card that is running on an ECS NFORCE6M-A mainboard. I'm thinking of getting a Sapphire HD 4870 1G GDDR5 PCI-E QP video card. I have a few questions: 1: Will it fit in my PCI-E slot? 2: Will it work with my mainboard? 3: Will I see a noticable upgrade in performance between the 2 cards? 4: Is the HD 4870 already DirectX 10 or is it "DirectX 10 ready" as so many cards claim to be 5: I'm currently running Windows Vista 32 bit. Will the new card work with it? Will it work if I decide to upgrade to Windows 7 in the future? Thanks in advance.Paul Biderman

And my experience is that there indeed is a problem with round gauges clearly looking oval. You notice it right away. I have heard about this for FS9 but it's the same in FSX. And I thought FSX was fully widescreen compatible. In FS9 I think I remember someone mentioning a simple solution. Just resize the 2D panel. But that was tricky since the side parts of the screen looks weird. I have seen this in F1 C172 and FSD Panther. But in the PMDG 747-400 I didn't find the three round gauges oval at all. How do you widescreen users do about this?

Sorry Mod I just noticed I have posted to the wrong forum could you be so kind as tomove it to the correct one for me, I'm sorry should have paid more attention.I have a Asus P5B Motherboard which supports 1066 FSB but using an E6750 CPU whichsupports a 1333 FSB. This combo seems to run fine but there is always a nag aboutthe loss of speed due to the front side bus of 1333 not being supported. My Video cardis a Ge Force 9600GT with a 1Gb Memory.I do not wish to re-install all my flight simulation stuff, so I'm asking what I should doto increase my FPS? at present am using FS9.1 and have it locked at 25 FPS. UsingFlight Ontario's high end scenery like Hamilton I have seve…

I experimented a lot already, but I cannot get any AA and AF to work when they're set in the NVidia control panel and disabled in FSX. Only when I put "application controlled" in the fields of the NVidia control panel and enable AA and AF in FSX, I get AA and AF. I also installed NHancer, which had no effect, so I uninstalled it again. The same works with an ATI adapter where I get at least AA with the driver when AA is set to off in FSX. The adapter gives slightly better results in AA than FSX built-in AA. So, I'd like to do the same with my NVidia adapter.I have a NVidia GTS-250. Is there any way to let the graphics driver control AA (i.e. disable FSX built-in AA) with m…

Hi guys,I have a Nvidia 260, with a mid to high-end machine. I fly in fullscreen mode and have a near perfect image. However, when I start SB for VATSIM, my AA deteriorates and my scenery develops jagged lines througout the VATSIM session. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening? When I exit SB, AA resumes as normal (8x).Thankserich

'Oh no!' I hear you say, 'not another sub-par computer owner complaining that a very detailed aircraft won't run well on his system!' Well actually it's an i7 system so if you have anything to offer on this subject, be my guest a read on.I previously doubted myself after seeing the results of a GTX260 in FSX, and turned to these forums where I was very kindly pointed in the direction of NickN's post on FSX ans OS optimisation. What a life saver! I'm hoping that the same generosity and expertise can be applied in this situation. Basically, as you will have gained from the little flash back/chat up line, I've got the system running wonderfully with every other aircraft in s…

My old Samsung 19" TFT 1280*1024 failed this evening. When getting a new monitor I would like to askDoes it matter if I choose 24" or 22" if you consider performence ? I mean different resolution different load on the videocard.I find 24"s that use 1920*1200 and 1920*1080 and 16:10 and !6:9 ratio. Does it matter which I choose with regard to FS? I use both FS9 and FSX.My FS systemAMD X2 60004 Gb PC6400 RAM8800GT 512M DDR3 videocardWin 7

Hello everyone,I've been having some problems with my ATi 4850 card in FSX (I have Vista 32bit). I used to get about 25FP/s with a ATi radeon 1900Xpro and when I swiched to the ATi 4850 I saw a decrease in FP/S and started seeing "artifacts"(picture attaced) in FSX i think it's something to do with the driver. Any suggestions?

For DX9, 182.5 has been a great driver. However in DX10 it's not long before I get BSOD, and an "NV" module is fingered in the description. I'd like to try out DX10 for a week to see if I can live with it, and would be interested to hear what driver versions work well with DX10. I know about all the image issues but when FSDT Zurich runs at 25fps with very dense autogen and full MTX traffic (c.f. 18fps on normal autogen with DX9), it's worth spending some time with.ThanksSimon

Last time I tried to run my FS9 ported planes I got dismal frame rates. Today I tried the Flight1 ATR and wow! 30 frames per second! (This is where my frame rate is locked).Likewise with the LDS767. Is this yet something else I've missed? For comparison, the PMDG J41 does 18 in the same setting. The ATR use to be at 15 on a good day and in the single digits.I'm using the latest 190.xx drivers and beta nhancer.

G'day all,Based on an idea I picked up from this forum (can't find the thread now), I decided to go out and buy a USB to DVI adapter. The idea was that I could use it to hook up a second monitor and set it up to show non-motion critical items such as the GPS and other instruments instead of having them clutter my main screen.Yes, I have a dual-DVI port video card but the use of that second port resulted in a significant FPS drop, and so I stuck with my single-monitor setup. The problem I'm having with this adapter is that, on startup, FSX kicks up an error saying that the display adapter is not supported as it doesn't have the right level of shader support, etc. and will…

I was fooling around with FSX to try and get my frames up (as usual). I noticed loading a saved flight over and over again that I appeared to have higher FPS on 8xq than just 2x. The frame rates jump around, however the average appears to be about 4 fps higher and definitely when it settles down about 4 fps higher. This held true even with "gray and rainy","building storms" and the current weather from ASA.Anyone else ever seen this? It doesn't make any sense at first thought. My machine:4GB ram, 3.0 9650 asus P5Q-E GTX 280

Hi,I posted this on the FS9 forum, but haven't gotten any replies, so I figured I'd try here - I have been experiencing a texture rendering problem lately in FS9.1 (but no problems w/FSX). I thought it was due to running FSACARS, but it's happening now on all flights. Textures, both aircraft and scenery, are failing to render properly, and everything is "greyed out" briefly while flying and changing views (2d-->3d cockpit/external/panning around/tower)...eventually they load, but it can take up to 20-25 seconds.By the time I reach my destination airport, FS9 is failing to render properly at all - everything is just "green nothingness" - no runways, taxiways, or buildin…

I posted on ATI's site but didnt receive any responses....anyone here seen this?Hello -I am using a 3 monitor set up. Up until this week, I was using an HD4800 series that came with my Dell XPS 730 as the main video card (center monitor) and a much older Radeon card (cant even remember what it was) to run the left and right monitors. This worked very well all the time. I used the left monitor for FSX 2D panels and the right monitor for charts and stuff.I just bought the HD4850 and now use that as my main card. I then use the older 4800 series card for the other two monitors. Here's the problem:Whenever I start FSX, and the main screen pops up (the one where you select the a…

I have had this problem with a GeForce 9800GX2 with one monitor, and I returned the card. Now I am having another similar problem right now on my work computer. The work computer has a PNY GeForce 8600GT 512MB superclocked, and I have a 20" screen with a resolution of 1680x1050 as my primary screen, and a 19" screen with a resolution of 1280 x1024 as my number 2 screen, positioned to the left of the primary screen. My number 2 screen does not work in FS. I do not know how to configure it to work separately from the primary monitor.Secondly, I am also having the problem that I had with the 9800GX2. When I go to the menu and click an option, the dialog box I want is hidden be…
