I'm thinking now of getting a larger monitor (from my 32 inch curved) to something like a 4K screen... Just wondering form those who use such, will a larger screen on the desktop be too big or will it make the immersion so to speak, a little more life like? Happy to hear any suggestions guys Thanks Doug -- system specs in sig

linkHey. I've been going through numerous posts on different Flight sim forums regarding the debate where people using 5800X3D saying it has much better performance in msfs 2020 and xplane. Claims suggest the 96 mb L3 cache on 5800X3D takes advantage over 64 mb L3 cache on 5950X. For me this isn't a significant difference and measuring a cpu's performance based on just L3 cache is not a good enough data point. Sure the flight sims could be performing better with 5800X3D taking advantage for the additional L3 memory and pushing more frames but to me that sounds like an optimisation issue from the developers of flight sims where the can't fully utilise the potential of…

Hi I currently have the RTX 2060 and are running P3D v5.3 as my sim. I bought the 2060 for about 2 years ago, just to have an gpu to use during the gpu shortage. I've been using it with a 1080p monitor with 1080 settings in P3D, running fine at medium-high graphics with just a few CTDs. Now I have recently bought a new 144hz 1440p monitor, and I see that P3D is having difficulties running 2060 at 1440p, which I prefer running on. Therefore, I am planning to upgrade my GPU, and I have been looking at both 3060 12 GB and 3060 TI with 8 GB VRAM to be able to run fine at 1440p. I am unsure about which GPU to choose from. I understand that VRAM is an important thing to th…

Hi my fellow swimmers, planning on upgrading my graphics card from my 3070 which really isn't cutting it much for Microsoft light simulator. I was planning on getting a 4090, or even the 4080. Would the 4090 be bottlenecked with my system? Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 Asus Ryzen 9 5900X EVGA RTX 3070 64GB DDR4 Ram 3600Mhz EVGA 850W Power Supply 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 Would like your thoughts on it. Yes my PC is still running DD4

Hello, I am impressed what frame generation in MSFS does and would like to upgrade my current setup. Currently I have: i5 10700K; 3080Ti, 32GB DDR4 and Corsair 850W PSU Initially I wanted to make a "comprehensive" upgrade, so buying new motherboard (with DDR5 compatible RAM), 13900K and 4080/4090. However what can I read from different topic with my current setup, upgrading GPU to 4000x series alone will make significant change (in both cases - 10700K/13900K CPU will be a bottleneck, right?) That being said I am thinking about upgrading only the GPU at this moment but cannot decide whether will be better to buy 4090 vs 4080? Is the performance in MS…

Seems Flightsim is once more a popular benchmark tool. How retro is that? Anyway, those on a budget now have a slightly better option, if they are willing to settle for less than the best of the best.

Hi everyone,I'm about to buy a new G-sync monitor along with a new rig ( intel 13900k and rtx 4090) and I'd like to have some advice on settings in the graphic option in fs2020/Nvidia c.p. because even having done some homeworks these days I'm more confused than before. Some say v-sync on with frame capped half refresh rate, some others off because g-sync monitors don't need v-sync on...The monitor has a 180Hz refresh. Thanks in advance best regards steve

Hello all. I'm not very clever when it comes to differentiating why one particular 4090 GPU is better for a SIM than another one? I also see a fair difference in price. I am running P3Dv5 currently and will be getting MSFS once the good heavy's become available in that SIM. With that being said, might you please steer me in the direction regarding modal and specific 4090 I should be looking at? And why? Thank you in advance.

I have looked at a lot of monitors and options. There doesn't seem to be a clear winner for all categories. I like to do a bit of photoshop and video editing, so an IPS panel is most recommended. I have an IPS panel now and it does good, even though people say it's too bright for night flying. There are plenty of night flights I can't see a thing. Yes, the display is brighter and not 100% black, but having the color range and accuracy for photo editing is necessary. Any reason I shouldn't get this monitor? I am thinking of getting a new display and getting something larger than my Dell UltraSharp 34 Curved Monitor - U3415W as it is about 5 years old. If I get something bigger, based on my specs below would there be any issues with performance if I upgraded to something in the 40-49" range? I'd like to stay with a curved monitor and i mainly fly IFR and with tubeliners. Not being super technical, what should I be looking for in terms of refresh rates, resolution, panel technology, etc. Thanks!

Hello all, I received the first two pieces of the flight sim that I'm putting together the other day (Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo Yoke and Throttle Quadrant). My triple TV/monitor stand will be arriving tomorrow from Next Level Racing. Now it's time to purchase the 3 - 55" TV's. I think I have it narrowed down to potentially the 'Samsung - 55" Class 7 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV' which is model number: UN55TU7000FXZA. Price is great and reviews seem solid! Here are a few of the specifics; 60hz, motion rate 120, has gaming mode, and is obviously 4k (I plan on running 1080). It only has 2 HDMI ports, is this ok? This flight sim stuff is pretty new to me, so …

I am thinking of upgrading my GPU, but the fact is I have limited budget. I was thinking of going to RTX3060 with12 Gb ram. Is this a reasonable change? Thanks in advance.
