If you have a 4000series Nvidia GPU and use a 4KTV with frame interpolation (also known as judder reduction or motion smoothing) for display, have you tried Nvidia FG and the TV's frame interpolation together? For example have you set your frame rate to 30 to get 60 with Nvidia FG and then 120 with the TV's built in Frame interpolation. If so what where your finding?

I think in the next few months I will finally retire my 43" samsung 4k HDR tv and replace with a monitor. The big problem is it will be hard to find something that checks all the boxes. -Considering downgrading from 4k to either 1440P or a widescreen. That opens up more doors but will also create more criteria to judge. Widescreen vs 16:9 for example. -Not interested in a curved display. -Main reason for my switch is to get full use out of my 4090. So that's why I am leaning to gsync ultimate. Or gsync. But not really interested in just gsync compatible. -Obviously I'm focused on having a good VRR refresh rate range. I'm more interested i…

Hi all I read a lot that anti-aliasing setting should be set to application controlled in the Nvidia setting, Should I then untick ant-aliasing in fsx and that filtering is the best Cheers Rhys

As the chart in the video shows, DLSS 2 adds fps improvement to 2000, 3000, 4000 Nvidia cards in MSFS. DLSS 3 adds frame generation to 4000 series cards only in MSFS. DLSS 3.5 will add ray reconstruction to 2000, 3000, and 4000 series Nvidia cards. I suppose how much you like these technologies depend on whether you are gpu or cpu limited, or both , or neither. And also your like and dislikes of the strengths and weaknesses of the changes which these technologies make to the sim's images. For me DLSS 2 was an enormous improvement and DLSS 3 (FG) was also. Perhaps because I was pushing a fairly large number of pixels. FG does double the frame ra…

I have a Philips 43" monitor which is displaying annoying patches on the display and is getting worse. I am also considering a rebuild of my cockpit and thinking about the Odyssey Ark 55" monitor from Samsung. It's a lot of dosh and I'm wondering if anyone around here has one of these and can offer their thoughts?

Hello, I wanted to exchange my NVIDIA GPU for an AMD GPU. First I removed the NVIDIA driver using DDU. Disconnected the PC from the power and removed the old card. The new GPU inserted, GPU power cable connected. and the monitor connected, the PC/monitor supplied with power and the PC switched on. What happens: absolutely nothing, monitor stays dark. Question: What mistake did I make? Peter

It will display but the fps will be wildly incorrect if you have Frame Generation turned on. Use the Steam display, or Microsoft store fps meter, or MS Gamebar, or AfterBurner/RivaTuner. etc/ Those all display correct fps with FG in use. Dev mode display is correct unless you turn on frame generation. Then it reads out a nice number, but is wildly incorrect (it reads almost twice low of the real number). Rule of thumb: A 4000 series card will double your fps minus 10 percent when you click MSFS setting Frame Generation to on. If you are seeing 50 fps with it off. Turning FG on will give you somewhere around 90 fps (doubled 50 minus 10 percent). You do NOT h…

I am just in the process of pulling out my credit card to buy this monitor, and I have done a fair bit of research online. However, there is one thing that I keep reading about, and that's regarding a warning message that regularly pops up on screen to warn about 'burn in.' I have a feeling that this has been addressed with a firmware update, as there were a lot of people complaining about it being very annoying. I too would find it annoying if a red warning message kept popping up regularly while using the monitor. So my question is, to anyone who may have this monitor, are you aware of this red warning message? Thanks guys.

AMD gives an update on FSR 3, the follow-up to FSR 2 that triples the fidelity of the frame rates in PC games like Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum. FSR 3 comes out Q1 2024. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zttHxmKFpm4 https://youtu.be/zttHxmKFpm4

If all else is equal, then the more pixels which are displayed means the slower the fps (frames per second). But it's not directly proportional, i.e. frame rates will decrease, but not as much as by half, if you double the number of pixels displayed. The calculator: https://toolstud.io/photo/megapixel.php This calculator tool will not only show the total number of pixels (megapixels) but also aspect ratio type (16:9 for example). And pixel density (dpi). DPI is how fine the display is, in other words the clarity.

I have a strange issue with Nvidia RTX 2080Ti lately. During the flight the fans are pretty loud but every few minutes or so they become completely silent for about a second and then start again. I assume they stop and almost immediately start again. I'm using MSI Afterburner to control the fans - I'm using this setup for about two years now with the same settings that NickN suggested. Nvidia drivers 536.23. This started to happen lately. Anybody else experiencing this? What could cause it?

Hello, I’ve been monitoring VRAM usage as a possible source of stutters in large cities in MSFS and I’m wondering how to figure out when I’m “out” of VRAM versus just getting by. An example would be last night in the Fenix I was descending over Vancouver heading for YYJ and when I looked I had about 800mb of VRAM left. What I’m unsure of is if that means I was just getting close to being out (ie was that 800 a true buffer?) or would I have been in a range where the card (or MSFS?) was restricting my VRAM usage to keep it from getting to zero available…I’m not really sure how this works. Once I got to Victoria I had about 3gb available. One thing is for sure,…

Hi All, I've had 3 x Samsung T240 monitors for about 15 years now and want something new and shiny. I've a fairly decent rig with an RTX 2070 and i7 6700K mobo. Was interested in an ultrawide monitor of around 34-inches but thought I'd come here to ask what other people would recommend. I'd also consider a 4K TV if that would offer better value for money without sacrificing quality. Cheers Daz

I recently posted a question about the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55" monitor, as I am looking at a new sim buikd around a new monitor. My Philips 43" has hit the bed and needs to be replaced. So it seems reasonable that I consider a larger screen. I am looking at several options, but one which ha staken my attention is the LG UltraGear 48GQ900. Is there anyone here that is running this monitor and if so, what are your thoughts? One thing I am conscious about, is what I think is called automatic dimming (or similar) where the monitor keeps adjusting the brightness depending on the scene. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi guys, Been a long time, finally burned out on the whole scene around 2016 with my last flight being the PMDG 737NG .. KSNA to KLAX .. Megascenery and all the other top addons of the time .. using a Dell 30” monitor and Saitek Cessna full kit. So fast forward to a couple weeks ago when I started watching 4k videos of both MSFS and X-Plane on my 12.9” iPad Pro .. I was blown away with the image quality and add-ons like the Fenix a320 and thought to myself ‘ok it’s time to build a new PC and start up again’. So I’m half way through a Z790/4090 build, and just took delivery of a Samsung QN90C 50” 4k TV. I’m a YouTube Red member and last night aiplay…
