Hi, when MS2020 was launched I followed the hardware recommendations and bought this system: Intel iCore i9-9900K 8 x 3.6 Hz Power Supply 700 W GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super ASUS ROG Strix 8GB Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix 390-F Gaming-ATX The Motherboard has these Slots for the GPU: 2xPCIe 3.0x16 (CPU) 1xPCIe 3.0x16 (PCH x4 Mode) 3x PCIe 3.0x1 Can I put in a GeForce RTX 4080 Super in this board which has: 1 x 16-pin PCIe 5.0 (or via adapter 3x8-pin PCIe 5.0) ??? I allready was told that PCIe 5.0 is compatible with PCIe 3.0 (performance difference neglectable). And is the 700W power supply strong enough for t…

I’ve read several older threads but am looking for some recent experiences. Leaning towards the 4080 super but is the 24 gb vram of the 7900xtx superior? Then there’s frame on the the 4080s. Coming from a 2080 system. Not able to wait for the 5000 series. Building a new pc with a 7800x3d cpu. Last decision is the video card. Any recommendations? thanks

Okay. I've browsed until my head hurts, so I'm biting the bullet and asking here. I will receive my new PC in two weeks. 7800 3XD (or whatever the numbers are) and a 4090 card. I've got little knowledge regarding that stuff, but research tells me it is a good combo. I'll need a monitor, and that aspect is more confusing to me than I thought. Is a G-Synch monitor desirable with the 4090, or a requirement? These G-Sync monitors look very expensive, and not much choice (unless going for G-Sync compatible which appears to be less desirable?) I know people will say, "If you are spending THAT much on a PC, why try and spare the pennies on a monitor?". I ge…

Good morning dear friends; thanks for welcoming me in the community. I'm a little confused: I want to change from P3D 4.5 to FS2020. I currently have P3D 4.5, PMDG 737, fsuipc, mobiflight 10.4 I have 7 monitors (2 graphics cards); 14 arduino MEGA 2560; motorized throttle block built by me. almost complete dual side cockpit. I want to change because I have problems with sudden display shutdown and missing outputs after a few minutes. thanks for help

I had a small piece of Flightsim Hardware that took the video output on my computer and spread it into each of my three monitors. This allowed the view to be spread across all three monitors without distorting it. I've moved and cannot find that component. Does anyone know who made it so I can buy another one. Thanks much for your reply!! Captain Tom

My previous computer was a i7-7700K @ 4.20 GHz, 32 GB Ram, GTX1080Ti Driver 536.99 using Windows 10. Within MSFS2020 I had V-Sync ON with TAA selected - this gave no 'Tearing' problems at all but FPS reduced to 20 + flying the PMDG 737 over London, which made me decide to invest in a new computer. I bought a i9-14900K, 64 GB 5600MHz DDR5, RTX4090 24GB GPU with latest driver, using Windows 11 FPS has increased substantially over my last computer and much smoother with the same scenario as above (PMDG737 over London), however I now get very bad 'Tearing' when I scan side to side in ANY MSFS aeroplane cockpit. I have tried V-Sync on and off, various Anti-Ali…

Hi. I've just upgraded my graphics card to a GeForce RTX 3060 12Mb. Using a software tool Speccy it indicates I've only got 4Mb Vram, using the DxDiag tool it indicates 12Mb. MSFS 2020 does get a bit stuttery at high intensity ie the Tornado at low level, and nightime at large airports. I was hoping for better performance than my old card with only 4Mb vram. Can anybody advise which of the two diagnostics will be more accurate Speccy or DxDiag ? I have an Intel i7-12700k CPU and 32Gb ram.

I installed a PNY RTX 4070 a few days ago. My old card was a GTX 1080 FTW2 and I had Vsync set to OFF with no tearing issues. After installing the new card I immediately faced with tearing issues. As a result I turned Vsync ON to resolve the issue. I set MSFS using the GeForce Experience recommended setting, which are below, but was hoping that a current 4070 user could share their setting recommendations or possible solutions or reasons to/for the tearing issue. I'm using a LG 60Hz monitor and have the Max Frame Rate in NVCP set to 57 so that I don't overdrive the monitor. I've tried going back to the settings that I used with the GTX 1080, but still get tear…

Thinking of this but curious if anyone has ever tried 8K in MSFS... I have an RTX 4090 https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/57-odyssey-neo-g9-dual-4k-uhd-quantum-mini-led-240hz-1ms-hdr-1000-curved-gaming-monitor-ls57cg952nnxza/?cid=pla-ecomm-pfs-mon-us-google-na-03112022-170121-&ds_e=GOOGLE-cr:0-pl:295207915-&ds_c=CN~Monitors+Pmax_ID~n_PR~mon_SB~mon_PH~on_KS~pmax_MK~us_OB~conv_FS~lo_FF~n_BS~ec_KM~na-&ds_ag=-&ds_k=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwurS3BhCGARIsADdUH51H-4CtvyxND94t1iZVhjh9cbotYzcan4cVKaA-Fw8AQu3-eFQ571QaAoJjEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hi All, I'm trying to decide what TV or monitor to upgrade my 3 x 50" Hisense TV's to. I've been looking at the LG C4 48". The TV's are clearly a great item, however I'm mindful of how low FPS (i.e. 30 FPS) looks on an OLED monitor vs on an LCD. With the near instant fresh rate of an OLED, I'm guessing that it looks a little choppier. I'm thinking that this may be overcome somewhat by utilizing a little motion smoothing (soap opera effect), however for the cost of the C4, I'm trying to weigh up if I'm spending too much money on a monitor that might actually not be the best fit for MSFS. I'm working on a 30 FPS average as I can maintain that at 4k with my …

Hey guys, I am planning to upgrade my GPU in preparation for FS'24. I'm currently using an RTX 2080 Ti paired with a 5800X3D (this is my full rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qZdgDZ ) Overall performance is still pretty good, especially with LSFG. 11 GB of VRAM doesn't quite cut it, though... I previously considered the 4070 Super, but that would hardly be an upgrade on the VRAM side. The next best option from Nvidia would be the 4070 Ti Super 16GB, which I'm currently considering. I'm not completely ruling out the 7900 XT, although the rumours of poor drivers, poorer ray tracing (which could become a factor in 24 and beyond) and DLSS 3 make me prefer Nvi…

First, a little background. My current system does not meet minimum requirements for a flight simulator, so I am building a new system specifically for a flight simulator. Therefore, I have not purchased a simulator, so I have no knowledge of what or how I can position windows within monitors. I will be using a GeForce RTX 4080 Super card (16GB), which has 3 display port connectiions and one HDMI. My main focus is to use this setup specifically for flight training with a single engine prop plane, so all flying will be from the cockpit only. I would like it to be as realistic as possible, so a major thing is to be able to see out of the right & left windows wi…

Will upgrading resolve my issue, or will I have to upgrade the power supply as well? I recently added an A320 FCU/EFIS combo as well as a 737 MCP/EFIS unit for my simming pleasure. These are both USB plug-and-play modules running their APIs. I have also been running ASFS, Couatl, Steam's Lossless Scaling, Navigraph, and two iPads that emulate CDU and EFB. Couatl and various other apps run in the background. All ran exceptionally well together until I added the two pieces of hardware; I started experiencing VRAM issues and power-ups and downs of the hardware. After some investigation, I found that the GPU was overwhelmed, and the RTX 3080 Ti only had 12 GB of VRAM. I added…

I'm a little sceptical that I would see any tangible improvement upgrading from an RTX 3090 to a 4080, but happy to be proved wrong by hearing from someone with experience of such an upgrade.

Hello, While I know 5.1 isn't fully operational with MSFS (some say yes, some say no, PMDG says no with their products..), I want to set up my rig to be able to decode 5.1 if/when available and I'm fine if I simply have to work with multichannel stereo if that's all I can get for now. I tried a SteelSeries Arena 9, and I'm not satisficed with the sound. I should have known this product would be woefully insufficient before purchasing, but that's on me (sound quality is only slightly better than a phone speaker with a sub added). I am now looking at the used AVR market to see I can get better results. I am trying to decide which features I must have to make …

After the better part of 10 years with my 34" Dell UltraSharp 3440x1440 it is time for an upgrade. I'm interested in anyone's experience with a 49" Oled monitor 5120x1440. I am also considering an Asus 41.5" 4K and to a lesser extent the Samsung G8 3440x1440. I would really like to step up in size plus move to the Oled. I have an excellent computer shop and the manager suggested i consider the 49" oled. He's actually downloading DCS for me to try out when I'm back in in a couple days. My computer has a 7800x3d and for a gpu the 7900xt so power should not be an issue. In addition to DCS I also use XP12, MSFS2020 and P3d. So I would really app…

The RTX 4070 has finally come down in price, picked an Asus up for £456 on a Prime Deal (they were £570+ a year ago)! I was running at GTX 980 so I'm massively out the loop on the frame generation and scaling that has now come to the fore as my card didn't support those, and I'm seeing new tools that I don't understand either. I was using TAA at my native 1440p as other types available made the instruments fuzzy. Would anyone be kind enough to write (or link to) an word not allowed's guide on this frame generation stuff and particularly how it pertains to MFS; what settings do I need enabled, what tools would be best (if any), what side effects do I need to watch for…

Hello, tonight I was watching a YouTube video - so a very non GPU intensive task - and suddenly I heard the GPU fans spool up to full speed. I had never heard the fans this loud before. After a few seconds of this I lost my video signal to my monitor, but the computer was still running. I could hear my video continuing to play. I hit the reset button, when the computer rebooted it made it to my desktop then I lost the video signal again. I did a full power off and back on, this time I was able to stay at the desktop so I took advantage and updated my drivers. So far so good, I haven't had a repeat now after about 10 minutes, fan volume seems normal. …
