Not sure if this is the right place......I am considering getting into VR and to be honest really know next to nothing about it. There are so many different possibilities in manufacturer, memory sizes etc. I'm not looking for the cheapest bottom end unit but rather a good cross between cost and quality and ease of use and set up. Sims I currently use MSFS2020/2024, XP12 and occasionally Aerofly 4. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

So I am in the market for a touch screen so I can use air manager to simulate the MCDU in the FSS ERJ. 30 years with MSFS flying GA I figure its time to enjoy some commercial flying 😀. My question is what size touch screen would be realistic for a MCDU. 8 inch perhaps or bigger? Will also buy a 16 or 18 for the ERJ overhead panel but thats a different story. Thank you so much for any advise. Mike

  5. Managed to upgrade my graphics card to an RTX 5080, and I'm seeing varying opinions on the internet and between manufacturers as to whether its better to use the native 12V-2X6 cable that comes with the PSU, or to use the adapter that comes with the graphics card. What are you guys doing with your 50 series cards?

Specs below. I'm still on 566.14 because I don't have any issueswith it. I know I'm behind and wondering if I'm messing out not being on newer drivers. I always believe, if it's not broke, don't mess with it. I'm also on Windows 11 Pro, 23H2. What drivers are considered good for MSFS2024/SU4 on a 4090?

  12. I've been experimenting with custom-built instrument panels for my home flight simulator setup, especially for gauges that don't fit well on standard 16:9 screens. Recently I started testing a square-format 8.82-inch LVDS TFT panel, mainly because its aspect ratio works better for certain cockpit instruments (HSI, RMI, engine gauges, etc.) where circular displays need more vertical space. For anyone interested, the panel I’m referring to is this one: https://www.aptusdisplay.com/products/8-82-inch-lvds-square-tft-lcd-display (Just sharing the specs because I couldn’t find many options online.) A few things I’ve noticed so far: The square layout m…

My real suze 737 homecockpit is getting an overhaul. I have upgraded my 4090 for a 5090 and my 2x 55 and 1x 65 4K tv’s for 3x TCL 75P89K 4k tv’s. These tv’s support 144 hertz abd Freesync, and I was wondering if that would work together with the 5090, as it is a Nvidia GPU. Anyone with more experience can chine in ? ” The TCL 75P89K does not officially support NVIDIA G-Sync, but it does have FreeSync and a 144Hz native refresh rate, which allows for variable refresh rate gaming . To use it with an NVIDIA GPU, you may be able to enable it through a manual setup for compatible graphics cards via the "NVIDIA Control Panel," although this is not offic…

Hi all I've been using MSFS on a laptop for years as I needed the portable solution. Now I'm stuck in one place I've just dropped money on a desktop with a 5080. I've been looking at 1440p curved widescreen monitors. There is also the option to go 4K. I'm assuming this graphics card is powerful enough to drive decent results on a 4K at 30FPS? I value a sharp, smooth terrain solution over super high frame rates. I don't want to spend more than a couple of hundred dollars on a monitor, so I'm not looking for super high end. What are the pros and cons of simming on each? I'm not quick enough to be racking up kill streaks on Battlefield, so I'm …

So, I started with an old PC and realised it wasn’t enough, built a new one in April this year with a 9800x3d and ran my old 3080ti with a single screen and it was kind of OK but not great so got a 7900xtx based on recommendations here. At that time a 5090 was absurdly priced where I live - about 4000 USD or more. It’s now about 2800 USD so even with the loss I’ll take on selling the 7900xtx I am better off than having bought the 5090 in April. Still getting stuttering and fps below 30 on high settings and 4k on center screen and 1080 on side screens. Then moved to a 3 main screen, and 4 touchscreen setup and now I have some stuttering in busy airports, and I ca…

So I'm still on MSFS 2020, I'm using a AMD 5800X3D CPU, 32GB DDR4 RAM on a RTX 2060 Super GPU - I'm reasonably happy with my output. Using two 1080 20" monitors I'm looking to upgrade my GPU - something like an RX 9070 XT Does anyone have a set up like this? are they able to share screenshots? What sort of graphics improvement should I expect

  20. I am sure this has been asked many times before so my apologies up front. I have been MS flight simming since it first arrived on the scene many years ago.I have grown weary of spending alot of money on updates that bring very little improvement to the sim experience. I now find myself retired with Parkinson's disease. I tell you this because stupidly I still want to upgrade to enjoy simming now that I have more time at home because of Parkinson. "Get to the point old Man" My pc currently is I7 13th gen, 32 gig RAM and an RTX 4070. I have a couple of VR head sets but want to go to triple TV screen. 21. 1000 FPS on AMD 9950X3D 610Hz ASUS Monitor There is no human that can react faster than 60Hz (meaning they see the frame, understand the frame, move their input device and perform action in less than 16ms). As far as visual identification of image difference, maybe 120Hz (8ms) if my head is on a swivel and I’ve had too much coffee (aka rapid motion). BUT, if the game requires reaction (aka kill the target), then by the time I’ve identified the target, moved my mouse (or joystick) to aim, then clicked on the button to fire … 60Hz or 1000Hz isn’t going to make any difference to a process than takes longer than 16ms. I’ve searched and can’t find any qualifie…

Hi all, I'm currently upgrading my pc from i7-11700kf and 3080 10gb. I got a second hand 7800x3d and ddr5 16*2 ram in a good price, now just need to decide the new graphics card since the 3080 is too hot and power inefficient. My choices: 9070, 9070xt, 5070, (second hand) 7900xt My addons: Fenix320, ini350(super lagging on my current pc, just want to make it work after upgrate), payware scenery and airports, vPilot or Fstraffic. Navigraph and browser at backend. My expectation: 1440p on 3440x1440 with high-ultra effects, TAA or DLAA with frame generation. Raw fps at least 30fps. These cards are in the price that I can afford, wanna wait till black…

  23. Hello everyone. What do you think about this monitor? https://www.asus.com/displays-desktops/monitors/proart/proart-display-pa278qv/ This would replace my current 24" Viewsonic VX2458MHD. I'd be using it for MSFS (both 2024&2020, almost always airliners, like Fenix and the PMDG 777), P3D v5 and sometimes FS9, FSX and XP11. The lower refresh rate (just 75 Hz) is not a problem for me: I can barely keep 30 native FPS in all situations and sims (except FS9) and thus I apply FG to "fill" the whole 120 Hz in my current monitor. Also, since I'd be upgrading from 1080p to 1440p, would my 5060Ti be good enough for this?
