I’ve read several older threads but am looking for some recent experiences. Leaning towards the 4080 super but is the 24 gb vram of the 7900xtx superior? Then there’s frame on the  the 4080s. Coming from a 2080 system. Not able to wait for the 5000 series. Building a new pc with a 7800x3d cpu. Last decision is the video card. Any recommendations?

About a year and a half ago I up dated to the 7800x3d and the 7900xt(20 gig) video card. The xtx was sold out and not available. I have zero complaints wit the 20 gig card. That said were the 24 gig card  available I would have bought it.

If you were really hoping for a 5000 series card, just use your 2080 for a while in the new build. You may have to moderate eye candy to satisfy the 2080 (2080 VRAM is certainly limiting), but you'll still be able to have tons of traffic and fly complex aircraft at complex airports because of the 7800X3D.

I( you plan to use 4K go for more VRAM.
