Hello Do you think the Corona virus will have an impact on the flight simulation market? Will the addon manufacturers be "winners" or "losers" of the crisis? Winners because people are now at home and have a lot of time to fly virtually or losers because people are now busy with survival, earning nothing and keeping their money together? What do you think? Do you expect discounts or price reductions? I wish you all to stay healthy! Erik

This made me smile. Being someone who abhors 'Quite unique' or 'Very unique'. Is it "Complete", "Finished" or "Completely Finished”? No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words - "Complete" and "Finished”. In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over five minutes. The final question was: “How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand? Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and F…

Hello Avsim! I would like to share some of the joy and some of the agony I experienced over the past few years working on the simulation of ONE add-on for flight simulator. This is partially a bit of a personal story, a bit of shameless product placement and a rant. I started working on the Lockheed Vega about three years ago. The decision to work on that particular aircraft was driven by my passion for vintage aviation and the idea that the simulation of an aircraft like the Vega would be simple enough to complete within about a year time. Boy, was I wrong. While the essential bits of this iconic aircraft - the 3d model and textures - were completed rather…

I was just simulating a departure from Doha and stumbled upon a curiosity. The SID charts make special note to strictly adhere to level restrictions unless otherwise instructed by ATC. Since ProATC is very strict with adhering to restrictions I had to fly my simulated PATOM 1M departure from RW16L as published. Not only does that mean that it takes 20 Minutes until you are finally allowed to climb to cruise level but it also means that you fly across the city of Doha at 3000ft. Has anyone here flown out of Doha in real life as a pilot? Or does live in the area? I can't imagine that ATC will really have all those jet aircraft fly that low over the city…

Just saw this. Hopefully it does not affect the openness MSFS has with the community or the project itself. Unlikely, but, when I saw this news, the thought entered my mind since he was an advocate of the FS franchise back in the day. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/bill-gates-steps-down-microsoft-211546162.html

Hi AVSIM: Someone from the admin group at AVSIM could please check why every time I add a particularly interesting topic and save it to my Followed Content gets usually deleted in one day or two?. This is making this excellent feature useless by all means. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Ed

hi, The cloud system proposed by asobo seems great since it brings great levels of realism, but I have to say I'm a little concerned about the carbon footprint. We all know that streaming in general eats tons of energy, so... Since Microsoft has money, maybe they could lesser their foot print with alternative energies, like solar panels... What do you thing guys?

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /// HOW TO PUSH or PULL YOUR AIRCRAFT SMOOTHLY ON GROUND /// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// When you want to push/pull your vehicle on ground/water the last few yards to it's final position (parking spot, hangar, dock etc.) you need to slew it around. The following actions will reward you to perform such movements some more realistic to perform. So lets start to do this. Read all text until end of document, so you can't miss anything important! o First of all you need P3D (in my case v 5.5 hf2) and a registered version of FSUIPC (in my case…

Kind of excited to go to Europe this Thursday. Just hope there's no problems with Coronavirus and quarantines....but I think not. Flying Lufthansa to Frankfort on 747-800, then right on to Prague for 3 days ( Airbus 320) Then busing to Krakow for 3 days, then busing to Budapest, Hungary for 3 days. Then flying to Munich from Budapest (Airbus 320). From there take an Airbus 350 (FIRST TIME EVER!) back to Newark, New Jersey. In the last few years, my wife and I have gone to Warsaw, Gdansk, Bulgaria, Romania, Berlin, and Octoberfest last September in Munich. I just love Europe and the people there. Very friendly, great food, easy communication. Have you flown…

Last night my wife and I booked our flights for the upcoming Christmas vacation to Europe and ended up getting a round trip from JFK to Paris on an A380. We picked seats on the upper level for both flights. I’ve never been on one of these. Is their anything of interest in the upper deck or anything particularly interesting that I should look for? Wish it was on a 747 as I still never flown on one of those either.

Because once I had the FSW sometime later my pc corrupted and I had to reinstall windows and everything but I never could get any trace of FSW.when you buy a key for FSX you don't want to pay for once only because could have pc problem any time.

Hi all! I've been enjoying flying to private airports in the Orbx North American regions - but's really annoying with the GTN GWPS/TAWS warnings going off non stop when it thinks you're about to land in a grass field instead of landing at a private strip. Is there any way to turn that off? Thanks!

Hi All: Well, it's been a long winter and, as usual, I begin getting bored with simming as Spring approaches. I've been at this since around 1997, BTW. So this year I decided I would learn how to fly a helicopter, in FSX of course. So I went out and bought a book on helicopters, then purchased an add on bird from a developed who has a good reputation, so I assume this is a good representative model. I read all the docs, then installed the aircraft and worked myself up to the point where I could go through the checklist, start her up, and off I go. I found that getting in the air wasn't too hard but keeping her in the air was a different story entirely!! The aircraft …

The same can be said for FS2004 which is still widely popular for many of us. I spend as much time flying my MAAM DC-3 in FS2004 to California Classics world wide retro airports circa 1960 as I do flying my Kodiak in P3Dv4. Flying in this era is not available in the latest and greatest. Looking over the new files in Flightsim.com I find 6 pages of new downloads for FS2004 alone so far for February. I imagine a like number are available here in the AVSIM library too. California Classics and Military AI Works are both alive and well serving those of us who have not yet buried FS2004. I am about to install another installation of FS2004 on my 'old' comput…

Katherine Johnson had calculated the flight paths for America's first crewed space mission; worked on the first moon landing and later on for the space shuttle program. She knew our good Earth was round; she knew the Moon was round too and she figured out a way to get us around like we never had before. She finally gets to see the whole view. God bless all the unsung women involved in aerospace. By my calculations; they are all angels. https://www.npr.org/2020/02/24/517784975/katherine-johnson-nasa-mathematician-and-an-inspiration-for-hidden-figures-dies

You guys might be interested in this: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N17085 ...possibly this is a flight tracking of one of the DC-10 water bombers leaving Australia. This leg is from Oz to Pago Pago in American Samoa. This might be one of those DC-10's based out of California (?) or British Columbia. I hope the fires are out in Australia, or at least winding down.
