Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  1. Having purchased the excellent (from an armchair pilot's view anyway!) Virtavia/Flight1 BN-2 Islander for FSX:SE I set about looking at what was available by way of repaints etc. (Any FDEs for the piston-engined ones? although reviews seem to say it's pretty realistic...) I found out that the FIGAS (Falkland Islands Govt. Aviation) Service - nice red and blue scheme by the way - has got 5 Islanders and should have 6 this year (2020) http://britten-norman.com/1117bnpr/ Seeing as the Falklands are rather remote, and the Islander "only" has about a 1400km range, how are the aircraft delivered? Ferried to North America, then South America then flown over from …

  4. Hi All: I'm new to this mailing list. I'm interested in finding a flight simulator code-base for use in research in artificial intelligence. I'm looking for code for a flight simulator to hook to new artificial intelligence components I'm considering. Still in the thinking phase, nothing concrete yet. I don't want to change the flight simulator per se. I want to have the AI components learn to provide input to controllers to achieve a goal and track the progress of the aircraft. Eventually it will involve air combat sim, but not at first. …

I have a number of Albeo and Carenado A/C that use the term as per title - all later models. (Actually - they do not mention 650 - but Flight1 website now states that both are offered for the one price and are not separated). I assume that many on here are using this addon -- and I've seen a few videos for GTN750 -and it looks useful but is it worth nearly $A100 . Most of the videos are American in use and other parts of the world are not seen - EG Oceana - Europe - or SE Asia all of which are base scenery in P3D boosted by Orbx global and LCs. I would love to see the flight planning in these areas especially sinc…

Hi, I have SAADs fantastic A350 and was wondering where I can find more liveries for it. I have looked and can not find liveries that did not come with the original aircraft. Thanks in advance

Has anyone put together a list of flightsim aircraft that can Autoland in P3D, & similarly those that can Autoland in XP? If not, can readers advise of any Autoland aircraft they know of? Thanks T45

Hi! I recently downloaded a few add ons from mega and later realized that those where pirated copies of payware add ons. I’m only fourteen so at that moment I didn’t understand the consequences of downloading those softwares but now I understand what I did was wrong. I am ashamed of what I did and I’m wondering if anyone know what I should do Ex. deleting the downloaded copies.

  11. As we all know very well, a survey conducted by Navigraph and sponsored by big names of the flightsim industry (ORBX, PMDG, Laminar Research, Aerosoft, HiFi, Flight1, FS Labs, MilViz, to name a few) was performed from November 20, 2019 to December 2, 2019. The results are still unknown, for some reason. What could be happening?. Anyone knows?. Cheers, Ed

Quick question , which add on do you think has the most realistic virtual cabin? I know there's some people that would say it doesn't matter and all that matters is row zero … but some of us like the immersion and the ability to have a walk around in VR! Any thoughts? Jim

Does anyone know what has happened with the Pilatus PC24 developed by Iris and released by them a few years ago? I was thinking of treating myself to it, but it seems to have disappeared from the Iris website and is also no longer available from any other vendors as far as I can see. Bill

  14. I watched a late night episode of Law and Order and shut off the TV set. Then the shooting started. That's how Roswell celebrates the New Year. Everybody goes outside and starts shooting their guns in the air. It lasts about 5 minutes or so. We don't have a tower to drop a gilded ball from out here on the frontier. We take out our six guns, shotguns, and rifles and shoot the sky. When it gets light in the morning and warms up a bit people will be on their roof tops picking up any stray bullets that might have rained down on them. Deadwood. Tombstone. Roswell. Noel

  15. I know...get a life!! I can't help it, flight simulation is my life 😍 Well, for me, I'll be flying the TFDi Boeing 717 when the new year comes. I love my NGXu, my FSL A319/320/321, my Aerosoft CRJ Pro and A330, my Majestic Q400 and my Madd❤g. They are all my babies, but the aircraft that I am fondest of is my 717. Other than the fact that TFDi did such a wonderfully awesome job developing it, I think it is because I wanted this aircraft type for so many years and now I have one that is outstanding beyond my expectations. Actually right now I'm practically living in P3Dv4.5 since I got my new computer, but I also like X-Plane 11 with the Zibo, ToLiss A320, FF A…

Dear Sir or Madame, Hello. I apologize in advance if this is not the proper place to ask this, but does anyone have any information regarding the situation at FlightSimPilotShop? For months now, when I try to visit their website, I get a "403 Forbidden" message on url "http://www.fspilotshop.com/index.php" . If I delete the "/index.php I then arrive at a webpage that states "The webpage is parked for free, courtesy of GoDaddy.com" (this is the url: http://fspilotshop.com/?reqp=1&reqr=) . I was hoping to attach photos to show what I am referring to but I was unable to do so. Thank you in advance. Regards, Gregorios TSAMIS

Hi all, in the real world, is there general rule of thumb as to when one gets landing RW information as you make your way towards the destination? For instance, does a controller clear you to a designated RW 30nm, 40nm etc? Just wondering how does one prepare the FMC for landing information as you near the approach? I guess I'm a bit confused about how this is handled (I'd like to prepare for Vatsim sometime soon but would like to get an idea of how this all works beforehand).

Sorry for posting this here but I couldn't find an Aerosoft forum down below. I recently purchased the Aerosoft Twin Otter X Expanded aircraft and I love it except for one problem. The torque meter on the amphibian version panel won't rise above 10. All the other models work fine, but not the amphib. I've swapped out the panel.cfg files from the other models but the torque meter problem persists in the amphibian. Has anyone else run into this and/or found a solution? Noel

Just wondering how this pushback would be dealt with in the real world. The image shows progressive taxi arrows for where I need to go. I'd elected to pushback to where you see i.e. on the apron, from the parking space which is just on the left side. More than a 90 degree turn almost as soon as the aircraft began moving. In the real world, still assuming the apron was clear of any obstacles, would the tug have positioned me there, or would it have continued to pushback and turn on to the taxiway, thus eliminating the right-left manoeuvre I had to do? Thanks.
