After a long hiatus Eaglesoft have finally released a new product, a Citation XLS+. http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/xlsplusG3.htm Obviously this would normally be very exciting, but for two caveats: It's only for 32bit platforms (P3D v3, FSX, FSX:SE). Given that even PMDG realize P3D V4 may not be long for this world, the idea of releasing something for v3 and FSX seems crazy. On top of this, it doesn't support Navigraph navdata and instead you have to use Eaglesoft's own navdata which is $40 a year and only updated quarterly. Genuinely do not understand how anyone came to the conclusion this is anything people wanted, even as desperate as we are for a…

I've just received an email from Navigraph informing me that " without any cost to you" my subscription to FMS data is being extended 3 months because " You are one of the few remaining subscribers to only subscribe to one of these." That seems to imply that the vast majority of flight simmers subscribe to both and I'm definitely missing out on something. BS. But not to worry, Navigraph is here to help me. " We will discontinue annual subscriptions for Charts and FMS Data in favor for monthly and annual billing of a single Navigraph Subscription which includes all of our services." OK, I can $ee where thi$ i$ going. "Effective today we have upgraded yo…

Hello everyone,, When I looked at the latest releases on the first page of the SimMarket website yesterday, my first thought was the German vendor had diversified into selling domestic appliances! But Machine Washing Design - UKCC 2012-2014 FSX P3D is actually scenery for an airport in Donetsk, Ukraine! I am puzzled though as to how this developer chose their brand name? I know there have been a lot of new developers springing up over the last couple of years but surely they can't have used up all the brand names that might suggest some connection with aviation!?

Hi, I recently got ut live and I am loving everything but the CRJ-200/700/900, A380 and ERJ 135/145 aircraft models. They look hideous! So how can I add other better looking models with respective repaints I have to replace the default ut live aircraft with?

  13. This question is directed to pilots of the big iron, at heavy landing weights, specifically the MD-11 carrying about 90 tons of payload. When the autopilot has captured the localiser and the plane is configured for the approach, does the autopilot run out of available stab trim? I would suspect that the answer is a definitive NO! I also suspect the autopilot uses elevator input in conjunction with stab trim. I think one of the issues within the SIM (FSX:SE) is that the autopilot controls pitch using stab trim alone even if the aircraft has elevators too. (Yes, it seems that I appear to have found another of Sky Sim's MD-11 foibles..) Thanks.

Hi, I have an issue when i start sf3d and my sim, p3dv4.4, I don't see sf3d in the addons tab, and it will not inject snow into my sim, where it is snowing in real life. I am also using rex enviro force.

  15. You can find now an excellent app in the Apple store, with the chart set of 511 French airfields and 145 heliports and some enroute inf and sup maps. It is free (donationware 25 EUR but no obligation) and published by the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile. Updated at it goes. Look for "VAC & eAIP". If you know of any such app for other countries, please feel free to add the information here.

  16. Just wondering why, sometimes but not always, the Pilot Flying and the Pilot Monitoring each have a hand on the thrust levers at the same time during the takeoff roll. I have seen it on a few videos on Youtube.

I am planning a project to provide simmers with a flying ground school based on the lessons available from the Aviation Training Network. This exciting project requires additional interested members to join the development team. If you would be interested in joining, please reply to me at speedbird747[at]ntlworld.com stating your interests in developing educational materials, your simming experience and experience in working within a software development project. We shall be developing within a pre-packaged learning management system and you will not be required to have prior knowledge of the software. All necessary training will be provided. Applications s…

  20. Simple question really. Why is there an LE Transit/Extend light on the 737? What is the impotance of this light? Shouldn't it be obvious when I change my flap settings to anything but 0? By all means, roast me for my lack of knowledge on leading edges because I really don't know their purpose. Thanks for answering my question!

I am ready to buy a new yoke. I would like to get a pedestal yoke as they are easier to adapt to a sim. This is my personal opinion. Has anyone bought, used or know of anyone that has one. Also what is the best one to buy. I know that they are overpriced but I am tired of the way my Goflight feels. It has too much drag and does not give me the feel that I have with the real airplane that I fly when landing. Tom Johnson I9-9900 Nvidia 2080 TI OC

This is a funny read that gets passed around occasionally among my flying colleagues. I think many of you will get a laugh out of this 🙂 After every flight, pilots fill out a form called a squawk sheet, which conveys to the mechanics any problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken. The pilot reviews the squawk sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor! Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems as submit…

I like to fly CAVU and have my custom weather set to Cirrus with bases at 30,000ft and tops at 39000ft just to give some texture to the sky when I fly. That is the only layer I have enabled in the custom weather setting. But I keep getting random Cumulus clouds at various altitudes. Normally I don't mind them, but when I am flying at higher altitudes in the mountains I hate see random Cu sitting on the ground and most especially sitting on a runway when I am about to take off or land. These popcorn Cu are formed by rising warm air and can never be formed on the surface. Totally 'unreal as it gets'. Noel
