I've been following this project for years..... Way back when it was the main competitor for Outera, though the two projects have diverged so far apart from each other at this point as to now have very little similarity. It's looking pretty good at this point, and very soon heading for Steam. Something for our resident Space-Sim fans to maybe take a look at.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION REGARDING FSPILOTSHOP Dear Simmers, A lot of confusion arose among Flight Simmers, after the temporary (or not) shutdown of FSPilotShop. Since this issue arose, we have been contacted by many people who confused our store with FSPilotShop’s. As we are aware that our store’s name might be somehow confusing, we want to clarify hereby, that we have no connection whatsoever to FSPilotShop. Our company is called FSPS (Flight Simulator Platform Solutions) and it started 15 years ago as a flight simulator add-on development company, having released many best-selling products.…

I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti0 video card. Every time I start one of my simulators I get a message that my display will improved if I set the resolution to 2560x1440. I have my displays set to 1920x1200 because these tired old eyes have a hard time reading the tiny IACO airport codes on the GPS and MFD map at 2560x1440. So I set my resolution at 1920x1200 to make them easier to read. Is there any way I can turn off the annoying notice that comes up every time I start a simulator to change to 2560x1440. Even eagle eyes need help as they age. Noel

Just finished a very well written account of the two recent Boeing 737 Max crashes that resulted in the grounding of the entire fleet. Here it is: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/18/magazine/boeing-737-max-crashes.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share The author's main point is that among other errors in operation, the lack of aviation skills was as much responsible as anything else for the crashes. The article is long but I think worth while for anyone who flies or is interested in aviation. Jim Driskell

Just something I wanted to share, awesome and awe-inspiring, with just a touch of melancholy and mortality. To a science geek, which leads smoothly to an aviation geek, this whole pageant of possible future history is..... beautiful.

A quick catalog of all the products categorized as "Prepar3dv4 Aircraft" for sale at one of the larger online distributors reveals these interesting numbers (subject to minor classification distinctions): 366 total products 37 products that could be called "commerical airline" including regional airline aircraft and AI products 10% 94 products that could be called "military and vintage military" including helos 26% 7 products that could be called "designed primarily for aerobatics" 2% The remainder could be called "general aviation" 62% Gosh, sure seems like there are a whole bunch of folks in the community buying a whole lot of non-commer…

The above headline is from yahoo and I am not going to support click bait for any site by linking here but info can be found doing a search. I post it because I wonder how much MS is depending on this tech to become main stream and provide the higher bandwidths that are going to be needed to support expected streaming requirements for MS20XX. There are quite a few countries that are not all that excited about becoming a big microwave oven.

Hi, I like to watch the show and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that there is an official video game in the making. They try to fund it via a Kickstarter campaign and it looks very promising: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playway/deadliest-catch-the-game

I’ve been here on AVSIM since the beginning under different user names. I’ve been using one flight sim or another going back to the early 1980’s on a monochrome monitor. The AVSIM forums appear to not have nearly the participation as we once had here. The AVSIM library doesn’t seem to have the quantity of new files we once had. The AVSIM news isn’t as current or updated as it use to be. AVSIM did not participate in the FS EXPO when AVSIM use to participate in many FS trade shows and use to hold AVSIM Fancon. Is everything OK here at AVSIM? Is it a dying hobby? Is it that Social Media groups have taken away from forum participation? I don’t see hardly a…

Don't know how this compares to Orbx's TE yet but it is a good price. Am going to grab it tonight and do a comparison although so far Southern England TE is only out for Xplane. It is still the same files though so should compare ok. I imagine the orbx autogen and custom buildings would be better but who knows? Competition is great! Cheers

I am not sure where to place this post, since it covers all the sims I use, and some of them are not flight simulators. I have noticed with the latest series of Nvidia drivers some good improvements in my sim performance. When I run Windows update as recommended, I go thru a few steps to follow up with the update with my latest video drivers. A recent Windows update has really amped up my sim performance and the speed of my system in a big way. There have been posts about uninstalling such updates and I just want to caution others--do not be a beta tester for someone making such posts, because all of our systems are not mirror images of my system or your system. …

Hey there, I'm learning to be familiar with different airspaces and I was wondering. On a commercial flight does the pilot have to check in with the new regions Control/ Center and say his altitude or does he not have to do that? P.S. I'm talking about long haul flights. Thanks, ~Taylor

Hi Simulator-Pilots, For the coupling between your flight simulator (FSX or P3D) the tool XMapsy V2 has been on the market for almost 2 years, which has been constantly improved and further developed. I was asked by many users about the possibility to show AI traffic of the simulator to different EFB apps. Previously this was only possible in ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot and FlyQ EFB. In order to be able to display the simulator AI traffic in other EFB-APPS (such as Airmate, SkyDemon, Aerovie or AVPlan EFB), a new path was be taken. In addition to the XPlane / simulator interface, the GDL-90 protocol has now been implemented in XMapsy. XMapsy V3 can now simulate an A…

Hey guys, I missed this on my drive to my practice today, and holy cow! I am glad that everyone is okay!!!! That plane is a Mooney, and I love Moonies (my first GA ride was in a Mooney, hence the love). https://wtop.com/prince-georges-county/2019/09/small-plane-crash-lands-on-route-50-in-bowie-may-have-hit-car/ https://beta.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/small-plane-hits-vehicle-on-us-50-in-maryland-injuring-four-officials-say/2019/09/12/f918a0ce-d572-11e9-b00e-9e1a72cc6813_story.html Be safe out there, skywolf

Seeing the post regarding electric taxiing systems got me thinking (dangerous, lol!) and playing Devil's Advocate. I hope this may generate an interesting discussion, so please bear with me if you would. Electric taxiing would be trying to cut down on greenhouse gas production by not having engines running for as long at airports far and wide, fair enough.. But... How much more greenhouse gas production would be eliminated by only having essential flights taking to the air? By that I mean, medical, humanitarian aid and cargo flights. No holiday flights........ WHAAAAT? Holidays: We all like holidays: It is good to relax and not be at work for some time thro…

I always loved these aircraft--I always tried to book seats up front, in the 2 seat side of coach, so I would be in the quietest part of the aircraft and have only an aisle next to my Window seat.... I have flown in the DC9/MD8x/MD9X and also the similar British aircraft just once, the BAC-111, on my way from Gatwick to Amsterdam in '84.... I also enjoyed all tail mounted engine aircraft I have flown on, the 727 and CRJ7xx/9xx, I only disliked the CRJ 200 because of the low window placement, corrected in the CRJ7XX/9XX and also aircraft like the Embraer 13x/14x/17x/19x.... and finally, the 787.... Why in some cases, the angles are different for the same PAPI? Can PAPI lights quickly change angle at the command of a dispatcher? i think it can't be so really... For example,Lugano: PAPI angles for both runways are indicated 4.17, and in none of the APPR schemes does this angle exis/not required... Spoiler APPR the ISG runway 01, we must use an angle of 6( use only after passing D3.7 ILU), how PAPI angles can be simultaneously with an angle of 4.17 and 6?🙄 And, why do we need such an angle(4.17) if it is not used anywhere?🤥 Another example, USSS, for the runway 26R, two different angles 3 and 3.17 are indicated (3.17 i…

On the keypad of the FMC / MCDU of both on Boeing and Airbus aircraft, the letters E, N, S, W often have a box around them. Anyone know what that's about?
