  4. There are some affordable, small single prop airplanes, and some experimental aircraft. I wouldn't want dive into a solo flight in an experimental aircraft with no lessons or formal training though. What is a relatively cheap, relatively safe method for getting into personal aircraft piloting? What about the pilot's license rules, with experimental aircraft? I've heard that one doesn't need a license to fly an experimental aircraft, and that simply simply keeping a pilot's license active isn't cheap. I want to do it safe and thorough though.

Just had a flight today with an Air Baltic A220-300 aircraft. It is now easily my favorite medium haul airliner. First of all it looks amazing, very modern sleek design. When it arrived at the departure gate it looked like a bigger business jet compared to an A320 next to it. I thought, it should be really tight in there compared to my experience with A320s and B737s. When I boarded, I was amazed on how spacious was the cabin. I had huge leg room and the cabin is very elegant and comfortable. What drew the biggest attention though was the windows. They are huge oval windows, giving a unique view of the planet from above. Arriving on sunset at my destination it was a …

Hey Guys, I'm in the process of cleaning up my office and flight bag, and came across my QRH for the 767. It's way too much to scan into a PDF, but if anyone needs a specific page, from a real world QRH, happy to grab it and send it out. Regards, Bill

  14. It's been a long time since I started using ( proudly ) ELITE Flight Simulator, and one of the main reasons is that, albeit having outdated graphics for World views, unless you couple it with P3D / ESP, it does have the most advanced simulation of aircraft and systems on the included fleets, up to and including the latest release v9 XTS. Now, sometimes in the past and regarding the implementation of PT-6 free-running turbines and specially aircraft like the Beechcraft B200, I insisted that Fuel Flow shouldn't vary with RPM adjustments for constant throttle, and condition, and assuming staright & level flight. In this technical video where the author talks ab…

  17. Happened today in Moscow. These are pilots I'd love to fly with. Hit a flock of sea gulls just after lift off and lost both engines. Stopped the climb at 750 feet to make an emergency landing in a corn field with the gear up. Only 10 injuries. Whole story with videos and pictures: http://avherald.com/h?article=4cb94927&opt=0

On the slim chance that the captain of the Etihad Boeing 787 Dreamliner which I was talking to on the headset yesterday whilst pushing it out sees this, I just want to give him a shout out for making me laugh and cheering me up. As is common with big jets like that, as it got loaded, the weight of all the ULDs and cargo pallets and fuel etc causes the tires to pin the chocks in place so they cannot be removed (usually the ones behind the main gear tires), necessitating us pulling the aircraft forward with the tug a bit, in order to free them up prior to the pushback. So I said to him, we're gong to have to pull you off the chocks, thus advising him of the move and to…

Imaginative and hitting a new target audience. I saw it for the first time this evening. A woman enters her apartment after work. She throws her hand bag in the corner, flips off her shoes, and walks to the refrigerator. She opens the door and several cans of Coors are on the shelf. She picks one up, closes the refrigerator door, and retires to an easy chair. Then she moves her hand behind her and unsnaps and drags out her bra. She throws it on the table next to the chair. Then the message pops up. Coors, celebrating the removing of the bra! Ya gotta love that one. Noel

Anyone here who knows where I can find more information about how an RNAV approach is being done in the Dash 8 Q400 in the real world? There are a lot of video's of simmers but they are all different. Some fly the entire approach by hand, some use LNAV, some use ARM APPR on the FMS to arm the approach and some even use ACT APPR to activate it, after which they use CNCL HDG to go from LNAV HDG SEL to LNAV APPR... But those are all video's from simmers, not real world Q400 pilots. I am also interested in how you have to deal with NO LINKs in the FMS: someone said you should not delete them because that would result in problems during the approach but I find that when I do d…

So I am trying to register for the forums on the VRS website but it is asking for my product license and password. The thing is I purchased the plane awhile back and for some reason going through my emails I can't seem to find any email which would contain this info. The only email I have is my receipt from Paypal which shows I made a payment to VRS but no email from VRS which has an Invoice that has this info. Is there another way to contact them as it looks like the only way is through the forums which won't let me register? Thanks
