" An underpaid, overworked Certified Flight Instructor cheats death while attempting to teach a cast of incompetent student pilots to fly at a skeezy South Florida flight school; all in the quest to build flight time so he can get a “real job” at an airline. I don't mean, do they fly real aircraft, do they have a PPL or the like. That we know for most of them. I mean, do they take time to fire up the sim and just enjoy a good flight over a good scenery with a good simcraft from time to time ? Developing is an obsession requiring a lot of work including testing within the sim and I suspect that when they get tired of a long work session, they 'd do anything but simming. But I wonder 😊 !

This is one of the most scenic flights I've taken in a while. A one hour (in my Kodiak) flight from Jarred Marshall's new Orbx Austurius (LEAS) to Bilbao (LEBB) Westbound along the north shore of Spain. The Bay of Biscay to the north and rugged mountains to the south. The first half of the flight many cities and towns, rolling hills, tilled fields, rugged coastline and beaches. The second half of the flight less urban, rural and closer to the mountains. Lots of things to see at 3500 feet. Noel

We are all very busy having fun pondering the potentialities and implications of FS20 that this news went unnoticed. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3944410&postcount=86 I put it here, at the moderator's discretion, because it is not exclusively related to DCS. If these two major developers of the FS/P3D and XP (for OrbX) worlds have discussions with DCS that could lead to make the latter which is an excellent sim already, a major player at the expense market-wise of P3D and XP. Premature to say anything ? I know but interesting nonetheless. And I was teasing Chock when he was alluding to a combat extension in FS20 in the Speculation Forum 😃…

Despite being an owner of all of Orbx's scenery I still tend to fly in my own home territory of the western United States. But lately have been flying in other Orbx regions. Yesterday it was southern Germany. I took off from the grass strip at Weimar Umpferstedt (EDOU) for a one hour flight to Durach (EDMK), another grass strip. I flew over the hill country with lots of forested areas and many villages and towns and small rivers. The scenery was very pretty and as I approached Durach the Alps slowly came into view. It was one of the better flights I have chosen to fly outside my home territory. Today I will fly in England. I think flying low and s…

Hi all! I'm looking for some recommendations, as when it comes to VA's Google is not always your friend! I have just two stipulations: - Rank Progression through hours is a MUST. I like starting small and gradually working my way to bigger aircraft. Being able to jump straight into a 747 is a major immersion Killer for me (though I understand it for people with less time). - Codeshares with other airlines, rather than just flights with a single airline, so the routes are constantly interesting and I can switch it up if I get bored. There are only two airlines that come close that I have found! The first being AFVA - schedules are great as they hav…

I was trying out some split-screen video shots for my aviation-related Chocks Hangar youtube channel, and decided to have a bit of a laugh whilst doing so. It ended up being quite amusing, so I uploaded it. It brings an entirely new meaning to the phrase, 'the eagle has landed'. You get to meet my co-pilot too. 🤣

I hate to admit it, I have become a payware junkie. And I do not regret it one iota, I have so many options and things I can do with Xplane11 and P3DV4. And LOL, last night I splurged and bought an eleven year old title, "Sprint Cars Road to Knoxville" bought over Steam, which I love because I trust it so well, for an appalling $1.99. After all, I grew up in the early 60's in Chicago, home of Gary Bettenhausen and his son, the Indy driver and friend of everyone of us in Tinley Park who shopped at his furniture store, when he was not racing Sprint or Indy Cars, he was a carpenter, kind of like JC was 2000 years ago. I loved aviation so much because I loved the sig…

Hello fellow simmers, We are about to start a closed beta of OnAir Company, an airline manager based on a persistent world. The beta version is compatible with FSX and Prepar3D all versions (via FSUIPC), but the final will support XPlane11 too. We are looking for motivated testers to join the Closed Beta. Our goal is to receive the early user's feedback and to check the gameplay balance. Let me know if you have any question. Antoine Becker https://www.onair.company

  15. I started the first thread because I didn't make sense of many derogatory comments about dev, seen in recent weeks. Your answers were great, so many names brought up that deserve recognition and some good recommendations to go further. Even a poll 😏. So let's try that. If the idea is to set up a Developers Hall of Fame, we need a selected introductory batch of inductees and then add names every so often (every year in June ?). Set up a poll in various categories is impossible to manage so I selected about 20 names with a maximum of three in each category. I didn't separate payware and freeware. This is not the issue. Value added, innovation are the issues. …

Hello to all, Well this new sim has been out now for a couple of days and so far to a dearth of comment or first impressions. I downloaded it as a demo and found that 7 minutes is nowhere near long enough to set it up, let alone assess positively whether or not to purchase. First criticism out of the road, three restarts later I found that I could only load a single throttle, and as I do not generally fly single engine anything when the third restarted finished, I ran out of patience, and decided that I would try again later. As a result, I have not made a flight as yet and will keep attempting to set it up in the future. I have to now, admit a couple…

In the new FS sim thread, some fellow simmers show rancour at the developpers community. Not me, I've seen this hobby live and proper for almost 40 years and I know what I owe them. To the best of my knowledge there is no FS Hall of Fame. Maybe some of them deserve kind of a recognition. Criterion ? They made the hobby what it is now. Many made great products too but they rode the wave. I chose people I see as innovators. Scenery Design : Justin Tyme (FSGenesis) and Todd Klaus (Terrascene for Fly!) : Pioneers in the 1990's in the use of GIS data Allen Kriesman, Holger Sandman, John Venema : Integration of GIS data and art in mega-sceneries Ric…

  19. Some aircraft that we loved in past versions of the FS world (from fS2k2 to P3Dv3) have entirely disappeared from the radar screen. I miss some, like the ACOF DH88 Comet or Marcel Felde's Do27. I suppose that you can tweak and import them in our present sim but revisiting old loves with just a little make up added might not be such not a good idea IMO. What are the aircraft you'd love to see remade anew to todays standards ?

Hey folks, Was going through new payware addons to buy and I realized FSX payware prices haven't decreased much.
